If you’re wondering just how slick roadways are in downtown Portland, this was the bike lane near Pioneer Square last night. I busted out the skates and gave them a go. Definitely not proper skating conditions (and would not recommend it) but it is indeed possible!

The city of Rochester is lit red this morning in honor of RFD firefighter Elvis Reyes who passed away last Wednesday. His funeral is being held this morning at the Blue Cross Arena at 10am. @News_8 will have live streaming of the service for you at .

Esmatullah Ahmadzi worked as a TV news anchor in Afghanistan under Taliban regime. After being constantly threatened, and even attacked, he was able to flee & ended up settling in Rochester. I'll have more on his journey to the US tonight on @News_8 at 11.

Crews just cleared NE Connell Ave. near Treehaven Dr. in Hillsboro after a car crashed. Police say the car is connected to an assault that happened in Seaside and was spotted by @WCSOOregon deputies on Highway-26. After crashing, the driver ran off and still hasn’t been found.

UPDATE: We just saw police take two more people into custody. They took the two away in handcuffs after hours of trying to get them out of the apartment. Police say they detained 3 other people earlier this morning. We are still waiting on official updates from police.

HAPPENING NOW: @bikeloudpdx is celebrating protected bike lanes on SW Broadway. @PBOTinfo was looking into moving the bike lane directly next to car lanes (with no parking spot buffer zone), but after a lot of community feed back, that possibility has now been put to rest.

Technology is always changing and @monroesheriffny stays on top of it, especially w/ the evolution of drone technology. Most recently, MCSO used the assistance of drones during the police scene in East Rochester that was linked to RGH going into lockdown.

RPD Chief Smith just spoke on last night’s incident on Culver & University where an officer was reportedly dragged by a car. The incident involved the officer firing his weapon, striking the male suspect. RPD says surveillance video revealed the involved car was stolen. @News_8

On our way to what looks to be a massive building fire on NE Sandy Blvd in Portland. Crews have just called a third-alarm and are working to keep the fire from spreading. Sounds like the building used to belong to a K-Mart store. We’ll have the latest on @fox12oregon shortly.

2 hours later, the fire has calmed down significantly and that massive plume of smoke is gone. Small flames and some smoke can still be seen coming from the top of the building. Crews say they’ll likely be here monitoring the building and what’s left of the fire all day long.
