As a Muslim who’s profoundly spiritual, I don’t support a Muslim-Muslim ticket for the presidency because it’s deeply unfair, divisive and un-Nigerian. Imagine how you’d feel if a Christian-Christian ticket was proposed. Islam teaches us to treat others how we want to be treated.
In the interview, CP Fulani Kwajafa (rted), who created SARS in 1984, told BBC Hausa that had he known SARS would become the evil it became, he won’t have created it.
He condemned SARS’s abuses and said he’s ashamed to have created.
Those defending SARS should bury their heads.
Today, Buhari justified his oil price surge by citing Saudi which charges N168 and said “It makes no sense for oil to be cheaper in Nigeria than in Saudi Arabia.”
But he forgot to mention that the minimum wage in Saudi is R3,000 which is N305,126.
Pay N305,126. We’ll pay N168.
Your husband “spent” billions on the Villa clinic. Yet it couldn’t treat “neck pain”. You flew to the UAE during lockdown on a presidential plane and spent our money.
As you land, you called for better hospitals. Don’t you know who the president is? Don’t you have access to him?
In 2018, a 14-old Fatima wrote me a short letter begging me to rescue her from her father, who's been raping her since when she's 7 years old when her mother died. She wrote her name, her school and class. I immediately asked a colleague to direct me to G. G. S. S. Sheka, Kano.
Families of the 7 victims of the ABJ-KD train attack released Saturday told Daily Trust that they paid N800m ransom. Each Nigerian paid 100m while the sole Pakistani, 200m. One freed captive said their captors jubilated wildly when they returned to the den with the Kuje escapees.
BBC Hausa has interviewed a 17-years-old boy that escaped while being conveyed to the bush. He said they initially ran but the abductors assembled them back claiming to be security agents. He said when they left the school, the abductors asked one of them count them. They’re 520!
The Minister of Defence, Bashir Magashi, has told Daily Trust that none of the Boko Haram suspects detained at Kuje prison was found after the attack. This gets scarier as the picture becomes clearer. Terrorists broke into a prison inside the FCT & walked away with their members!
Nine months ago, the CBN shut down Aboki FX for “undermining” our economy by weakening the Naira. Has the Naira made any gains against USD in the last nine months? How much has our economy improved since the decision to close Aboki FX?
I know why Shekau is obsssed with me; he wants to bully me into silence. Let him get it loud & clear that:
I will never be bullied into silence!
I will never be bullied into silence!
I will never be bullied into silence!
I will never be bullied into silence!
NEVER. NEVER. NEVER.
Sad how Ganduje betrayed a guy who squandered his reputation defending him. From his dollar clips to robbing Kano's 2019 election to his politically-motivated removal of Sanusi II, the guy struggled to justify Ganduje's every wrong. Selfish politicians are never reliable allies.
BBC Hausa reports that 50 villages in Katsina blocked the highway for 5hrs to protest insecurity. They gave the FG a 4-ultimatum to confront bandits or they’d arm to defend themselves. They said security agents know the bandits & where they are, but have refused to confront them.
President Buhari said being president is so tough that he’s “eager to go”. Please someone help me tell him that the constitution allows him to resign today if it’s truly “tough” and he’s genuinely “eager”. Nigeria would be super relieved to see him go now.
Two northerners, including a farmer, on BBC Hausa this morning called on Pres Buhari to resign. This is unprecedented and unimaginable, but they spoke the minds of millions frustrated with condemnations, promises and failures. Buhari needs to show leadership before it’s too late.
A coalition of northern groups will start protests tomorrow demanding Buhari to tackle deteriorating insecurity and take steps to end ASUU strike.
They’ve my full support!
Buhari’s stronghold is protesting against him. This speaks volumes on his dismal performance.

While the police is busy killing and wounding peaceful protesters over the weekend, bandits invaded Kadai village of Kaduna killing nine people and burning their property. BBC Hausa reports that 3,000 villagers have fled and bandits have taken over the village and their farms.
From 1999, ASUU has gone on strike 16 times for a total of 51 months. That’s about one year’s strike in every five years. For every five years, a lecturer receives one year’s salary without working for it & every graduate of a public university loses one year. How this be right?
On a weekly program of BBC Hausa that I was on last night, a father told a story that kept me awake. Bandits in Zamfara asked his brother to “lend” them his daughter for a week or they destroy them. They took her & raped her in their den for the period. His isn’t the only family.
BBC Hausa reports that the farmers attacked yesterday were 66. Now 43 bodies have been recovered while the remaining 23 people are still missing. The toll may rise.
Most of them were from Borno, but there were many farm labourers from the NW: Kebbi- 7, Sokoto- 8 and Zamfara- 9.
BBC Hausa reports that twelve police officers (all ASPs) have been abducted by bandits. The wife of one of the officers told the BBC that her husband had phoned and instructed her to sell his house to raise ransom. She said she knows the families of eight other abducted officers.
So she assessed the damage peeping through the window of a moving plane? And she’ll be paid allowance for a work trip? How many families will the cost of the flight help? Why did you have to report this rubbish to us? What have we done to deserve this?
Ten days to inauguration, Joe Biden has finished announcing his cabinet nominees. That sounds like someone eager to deliver.
In my world, it took a winner that contested FOUR times six months to bring back the very people we thought we’re voting out. He didn’t know what to do.
Bello Turji’s last mass atrocity that we know of was setting 23 travellers, including a pregnant woman, ablaze in Sokoto. Now, Zamfara govt says he’s repented and is helping “with killing unrepentant bandits”. Don’t be surprised if the govt bought him weapons and logistics soon.
Now that ASUU has suspended its strike, FG should find a way of holding lecturers accountable. Many ASUU members don’t do their job and ASUU doesn’t care. They don’t start lectures until weeks to exam and all the wahala ends on students. We need a system to hold them accountable.
BBC Hausa reports that terrorists killed at least 135 people in Plateau villages yesterday. A traditional ruler said they've buried
54 in Kukawa
34 in Gyambau
16 in Shuwaka
31 in 2 other villages
That this isn't the major news says volumes on how cheap Nigerian lives have become.
Boko Haram has been in the bush for 10 years. But they’re still eating, fueling their vehicles, wearing new clothes, acquiring weaponry and conscripting teenage boys.
It’s elementary that the first step towards defeating them is blocking their supply routes. That has to be done.
~ Buhari’s daughter is in self-isolation in Abuja;
~ Atiku’s son is at Gwagwalada;
~ The Governor of Bauchi is in self-isolation in Bauchi;
We might see more “Big Men” in the coming days.
Politicians may now realize that they might someday need the systems they SO neglected.
Senator Ali Ndume told BBC Hausa that a “repentant” Boko Haram fighter released by the Buhari admin has killed his father, robbed his wealth & disappeared [possibly back to BH]. He claimed that most released fighters go back to BH and that his constituents reject the initiative.
Hypocrisy is refusing to hold
Buhari to the same standards we held Jonathan to.
I won’t excuse Buhari for anything I didn’t excuse Jonathan for.
I will judge APC on the same terms I judged PDP when it was in power.
If you’ve chosen to apply different standards, good luck.
Flying Officer Muhammad Auwal is one of the latest gallant men we sadly lost to terrorists. He’s killed yesterday (5 Sep.) on duty at Birnin Gwari. He’s the Best Graduating Officer at the NAF Special Forces Course that held recently in Bauchi.
One Chibok girl was reunited with her parents this week. She escaped with a man claiming to be her “husband” and 2 kids she had in captivity. This and many girls were violated for 7yrs and, at the end, she had to save herself on her own. Can there be a worst failure of a country?
So sad to hear that Shema’u Adam Imam has passed on. As a founder of the Sickle Cell Community in Kano, she helped others fight the disease while still battling hers. She impacted and inspired many. She’s resilience, kindness and love personified. May Allah admit her to paradise.
If you’re in doubt that the Buhari govt is clueless, listen up. Garba Shehu told BBC Hausa today that they gave the Abuja-Kaduna train attackers all their demands, but they refused to free their victims. That’s because the terrorists outsmarted them. Here’s what Garba Shehu said.
I like this BBC Hausa guy.
He said to Garba Shehu “You previously said a gun dual is going on and now you’re saying negotiations have started”.
The man struggled to explain how both opposing tactics are being pursued simultaneously.
May you never be a spokesperson.
Early evidence suggests that ABJ-KD train attackers are Boko Haram. In this video, they released the MD of Bank of Agric because “he’s old and it’s Ramadan”. They said government should work to free the remaining victims quickly or they would “turn their abode into an abattoir”.
I personally think this is the best thing that has happened to the Emir of Kano. This throne had limited his opportunities and contributions to Nigeria and the world. I believe he will make an excellent President that will bring Nigeria together or a great UN Secretary General.
Shaykh Goni Aisami was the most popular Muslim cleric in Gashu’a, my hometown. He’s killed on Friday by a soldier who claimed to be on duty & begged for a lift from Nguru to Jajimaji town. On their way, the soldier stopped & shot him 3 times and dumped his body to steal his car.
A family source confirmed to me that N100m, in cash, was paid for the release of the MD of Bank of Agric. The crazy money terrorists are making in Nigeria! This problem will simply keep growing. Not only are there no consequences to terrorism, it also pays handsomely. It’s sad.
I just received a phone call from Alhaji Abdullahi Alfa, father of SARS victim, Hassan Alfa. He’s very grateful to you all for keeping the cold blooded murder of his child by SARS in the limelight. He’s too old and fragile to come out to the streets, but is 100% with

Clearly, some ppl are ignorant of how a democratic Nigeria works. The Constitution guarantees everyone, including dethroned Emirs, the right to free movement, stand for elections and to association. Any law or custom that contravenes the Constitution is null & void. Go to school.
Clearly, some ppl are ignoramt of how dethronement works. When an Emir is dethroned, he is sent to exile in a remote location & will basicslly be under house arrest & won't ve access to visitors. A person under this circumstances will be after his freedom & not the next election
I just listened to a 19-minute conversation with a survivor of the ABJ-KD train bombing. The horror they faced in the 90-ish minutes before help arrived is unspeakable. But his account of the bravery & help of the soldiers who rescued them multiplied my respect for Nigerian Army.
Here, BBC Hausa details how women in Bardo of Jigawa contributed N1k monthly to get N1m & bought a vehicle that’d convey women in labour to clinic. This is a painful example of how politicians failed Nigerians, but also a testimony of our sheer resilience.
Daily Trust reports that at least 900 inmates including senior Boko Haram and bandit suspects escaped from Kuje Prison. Only about 60 of over 1000 inmates were re-arrested. The attackers operated for over two hours from 10pm and used dynamites to break the Central Terrorism Unit.
Killing innocent Nigerians in Ibadan for the crime of being Hausa is barbaric. The FG must do everything possible to stop this carnage and punish offenders. Those that supported Sunday Igboho's violence and raised money for him must now take responsibility for this dastardly act.
You think Buhari’s govt is useless, but Osibanjo is exonerated because he’s “sidelined”. Are you sure you aren’t a bigot?
I think this govt is clueless and all of them are to blame. But if you insist he’s relegated, doesn’t he have the integrity to resign or at least speak up?
Pleased to see a clip of our National Heroes inside Sambisa Forest. Their recent offensive has restrained Boko Haram’s ability to attack civilians. I hope they would keep pushing until Shekau and his fellow terrorists are captured alive or eliminated. May our soldiers succeed.
Gov el-Rufai’s claim yesterday that the killings in Southern Kaduna are “organised” by the victims “so that their leaders are invited” to wine & dine with the Governor & be given brown envelopes is untrue, reckless & dangerous. It’s irresponsible of him to make such a statement.
One thing we don't appreciate enough about Nigeria is cheap university education. I've met people who graduated from the UK and the US that are still paying their student loan + interest many years after graduation. We can complain of anyhing but not university fees.
I did this special report for BBC World TV (which airs on UK channels & PBS in the US) on Yusuf Anka’s “The Bandit Warlords of Zamfara”. I am honoured to have worked on the film as an Executive Producer along with a great team. You can watch the film here:
The Imam sobbing for seeing the Kaaba in this state. This sight is sufficient to demonstrate to everyone who has been to this place or seen it in pictures/TV or heard about it the gravity of the situation that we are in. The Kaaba completely empty!
Nigeria is the only country in the world where universities nationwide would just shutdown for months after months and no one seems to even care: not the politicians; not the lecturers; not the administrators. How can we ever make progress in this situation?
You returned from Lagos, had symptoms, admitted to hospital and your sample taken for testing, yet you attended Jumu'ah prayer on the day your result was due. And you're a former ambassador. I wonder if some folk think at all. I reckon reckless patients should be prosecuted.
The terrorists that abducted the 136 Tegina students have refused to release them despite collecting N50m ransom. Instead, they’ve held one of the delegates that delivered the ransom and are demanding more money and six Honda motorcycles. Only in Buhari’s Nigeria can this happen.
BBC Hausa is reporting now that gunmen have abducted the APC chairman of Nasarawa State.
Gradually, criminals are teaching politicians and elites that the more they ignore them to attack ordinary Nigerians, the more they’d build capacity to target those who think they’re immune.
Rahina was my youngest sibling. She passed on last night. She phoned me twice in the past two weeks and during the period two of my friends told me how she kept in touch. She’s a very beautiful soul that loved children to a fault. If you’re reading this, please pray for Rahina.
Earlier today, I phoned the legendary
@mrjamesob
to underscore the dangers of a heavy-handed approach in Gaza resulting in mass civilian casualties. My three main points were:
1. The right to self-defense, as defined by law, is never "absolute"; it's a conditional right with…
Boko Haram has killed 40,000
Boko Haram has displaced 7.5m
Bandits have killed 8,000
Bandits have displaced 300k
They’re still killing, maiming and destroying with impunity despite repeated promises and billions of Naira in security expenses.
Enough is Enough.

Just learnt that Fatima’s father-rapist has been sentenced to SIXTY years in prison by the High Court of Kano State. The beast was 61 when he’s sentenced so he’d be 120 years old when his term expires! Her ordeal has rightly caused outrage and I thought this could be consolation.
Sixteen people, including nine children playing football, were killed in the attack on Maiduguri two days ago. Today, Shekau took responsibility and celebrated the death of the victims who have never wronged him in anyway. This beast is the sickest man you can ever find on earth.
APC has raised over N23B from forms. Here’s the calculation based on figures of forms sold provided by the party
Presidential- 26 x N100m = N2.6B
Gubernatorial- 109 x N50m = N5.45B
Senatorial- 270 x N20m = N5.4B
Reps- 969x N10m = N9.69B
Who can guess where this money came from?
First they condemned every Fulani for the crime of some and justified attacks on them.
They are now justifying attacking Hausa traders because of Fulani herders and are exonerating the hoodlums that started the Oyo attacks.
That's the definition of hypocrisy amidst ethnicism.
If you visit local markets or factories in Aba, Lagos, Kano or Maiduguri & see how hard ordinary Nigerians are working to make ends meet, you’d know that Nigerians are among the most industrious people on earth. With the right leadership, our country will catapult to greatness.
The first step towards halting fake news in Nigeria is to stop all ministers and government spokesmen from speaking. They are the major purveyors of empty promises, lies and propaganda.
Buhari is a complete disappointment for neglecting the horror unfolding in Kano. No state can do it alone.
Ganduje is useless for not standing up for his people against FG's neglect.
It's disgusting how some Nigerians think other Nigerians don't deserve to be treated as humans.
This old woman is weeping over the removal of Emir Sanusi because, she said, he feeds her and her 10 orphans. He does same to dozens, if not hundreds of others, of others. Where are those who say he doesn’t help the needy? Must everything be publicized?
The Buhari regime has imposed N5m fine on Trust TV over the broadcast of a film “Nigeria’s Banditry: The Inside Story” on 5 March 2022. This action was clearly triggered by BBC’s recent film which exposed the extent of brutality and lawlessness and sheer govt failure in Zamfara.
BBC Hausa reports that bandits in Zamfara have stipulated “harvest fees” to the few farmers that managed to cultivate. The farmers had to pay the gangs to access their farms at the beginning of the season. And now they’re denied harvesting until they pay N300k-N900k per village.
5-year-old Hanifa was allegedly kidnapped & killed in Kano by her private school teacher. The accused has confessed to abducting her & demanding N6m. When she recognised him, he poisoned her & buried her in a shallow grave. He led police to the grave where her body was recovered.
In 2018, a lady trafficked from Kano to Oman reached out to me seeking help. The agent offered them a job in Saudi Arabia. Given every Muslim’s eagerness to visit the Holy Land, she didn’t hesitate to accept saying, “If nothing, I’d be honoured with a visit to the Prophet (SAW)”.
Got local info that it isn’t just Zamfara farmers that pay “harvest fees”. Unguwar Laya Village of Birnin Gwari, Kaduna paid N1m to harvest their crops. The gang came back, kidnapped some of the farmers and demanded more ransom. Parts of Katsina also pay. Do we have a government?
Police probe of the Owo attack found that it’s people who disguised as worshippers that detonated explosives inside the Church before shooting started. How likely is it for ‘Fulani herdsmen’ to successfully disguise as Yoruba worshippers? It’s always better to wait for the facts.
Following my tweet on the attack on Gov. Zulum. A v senior public servant wrote to me that it wasn’t BH but “a resistance & delay tactic by the Military to stop the Gov. from accessing Baga, the Center for the Military High Command’s illegal Multi-Million Naira Fishing Business.”
Today, Lance Corporal John Gabriel was sentenced to death by hanging by the Yobe State High Court in Potiskum. He was found guilty of both robbery and the murder of Sheikh Goni Aisami. The convict, attached to the 241 Recce Battalion, committed the crime in August 2022, shooting…
My NCE teacher, Lawan Cheri, saw this boy drawing this on the wall of a neighbour in Damaturu.
This tells you everything about the experiences of the children in the northeast.
To stop transgenerational trauma, survivors must be properly treated and community healing promoted.
BBC Hausa reports that last night kidnappers invaded a secondary school in Katsina and abducted dozens of students. DW Hausa reports that over 2,000 parents trooped to the school this morning to check if their kids are safe. And Buhari is in the same state for a one week holiday.
For those who say Lekki protesters are being arrested because it COULD get violent, were the Kankara kidnappers left alone because they're peaceful?
The same constitution that made Buhari president is the same constitution that enshrined the right of every Nigerian to protest.
Moments ago, I explained to
@AJEnglish
how the Nigerian army's Supercamp Strategy gave control of rural northeast to Boko Haram and abled attacks like the
#ZabarmariMassacre
. BH is ruling the northeast & criminal gangs are ruling northwest. A major food crisis is on the horizon.
For those asking, the walkout by some parties from the collation of presidential results will NOT negatively affect the validity of the exercise. The law doesn't require party agents to be present nor are their signatures neccessary for the final result to be valid.
When the Abuja aiport was renovated in 2017 and flights were diverted to Kaduna, heavy security was mounted on the Abuja-Kaduna road. No SINGLE incident of kidnapping or killing was reported throughout the period. But the security was withdrawn once the Abuja aiport was reopened.
Nine years ago today, I, along with two fiends, initiated this protest in Kano against Pres. Jonathan’s fuel price hike. Some who hailed us as heroes then view us as villains today just because we’ve been consistent. They want to hold Buhari to a lower standard than Jonathan. NO.
In Buhari home Katsina, bandit terrorists have turned many people into slaves according to Dr Bashir Kurfi, an elder & community leader. He told BBC Hausa that gangs have occupied people’s homes in many villages, where they force the owners to live in makeshifts & work on farms…
El-Rufai's approach to the NLC is telling of how much the guy respects laws. He, according the NLC, led the police and armed hoodlums to fight them, his govt likened the NLC to bandits & declared its president wanted. Today, he dismissed all nurses below GL14 without due process.
Kano State has unilaterally slashed its workers’ salary from the minimum of N30k to N18k saying it did so because of the economic impact of the Coronaravirus. Civil servants are heartbroken. I hope NLC will rise up against this arbitrariness before other Governors borrow a leaf.
Buhari’s first promise since 2015 is ending Boko Haram. As he keeps claiming to have defeated them, they continue to kill daily.
In the northwest, bandits keep operating with impunity. This can’t continue.
Buhari must do everything to end

Rape is so pervasive in our society. It's almost been normalised. It's high time we all acted decisively. We must stipulate the severest sentence possible, set up special investigators and get special courts to try rape cases expediously. WE CAN'T LET THIS CONTINUE.
Pleased to learn that Nigeria has developed its Covid-19 test that gives result in 40 minutes and is cheap.
If this happened in another African country, many would’ve celebrated it and dragged Nigeria.
Let’s not pretend it’s nothing because it happened in our country.
Bravo!
Last Friday, bandits invaded a Friday mosque in Dutsen Gari of Zamfara and abducted the more than 100 people praying there. When they got to the bush, they called 20 people from a list they went with, killed 5 others and released the rest. This impunity is simply unbelievable.
So devastating to hear that one of the pupils who was released by culprits of the latest Niger State school kidnapping for being "too small to walk" subsequently died of trauma. He was just 3 years old. Rural northern Nigeria has become one of the most lethal places for children.
BBC Hausa reports that the funeral of 51 people killed by "bandits" in the Magami area of Zamfara is being held this morning. A witness told the BBC that the bandits operated for 7hrs from 7am - 1pm yesterday. He said they reported the attack to security forces but no help came.
Clearly, soldiers have been given marching orders to shoot protesters peacefully seated at Lekki. The world is carefully watching.
@jidesanwoolu
and his enablers will regret this.
