, the Charlotte Hornets have shown "significant interest" in hiring Knicks Vice President of Basketball and Strategic Planning Brock Aller to Jeff Peterson's new front office.
Aller was Leon Rose’s first significant hire after he took over as the Knicks’ president
Brock Aller master class:

2) Trade

The gaslighting of Knicks fans that Donovan Mitchell is a star but not a ‘superstar’ is so funny to me.
If Mitchell is traded to the Knicks, his jersey is going to be
#3
in sales behind Lebron and Curry. Lol.
All Donovan Mitchell had to do was say New York or nothing and we coulda gotten him for 2 firsts, Fournier and Obi.
He taught future league superstars what NOT to do going forward: i.e. Dame.
The overwhelming feeling among league insiders is that Donovan Mitchell is likely to sign outside of Utah at the first available opportunity in 2025, per
@andyblarsen
Rich Paul denying the Knicks of all of his Klutch represented clients isn’t exactly the ~ hinderance ~ he thinks it is, lol.
Probably a blessing in disguise:
The “don’t trade Julius Randle” crowd must also believe he can lead us to the NBA finals.
The reality:
• this is the highest his trade value will ever be
• we are at best a 5 seed roster
• even if Randle continues his play of late, this team is not there to compete
(1/2)
The New Orleans Pelicans are as dysfunctional of an organization as it gets - at least top 5.
New York has built something these last 3 years. Zion needs a change of scenery - if he can FORCE his way to the Knicks (he’s at his lowest trade value EVER at the moment) + NYK (1/2)
Donovan Mitchell would have been a Knick two weeks ago if Steve Mills/Isaiah Thomas was team President.
But then again, we wouldn’t have any of the assets we have today with those two bozos.
Leon has built an asset arsenal in quick time, and will not blink at Danny Ainge.
🤝
Throwback to the night after the 2020 draft. Quick was so cool. Asked to look at the picture to see if we needed to take another one.
@IQ_GodSon
🤝 Brock
Everyone’s saying the NYK front office is on the hot seat after this one.
I disagree. For me, the person I’m staring at is Thibs
Can’t express how much heat, both internally and externally, there will be to give the youngins - that we didn’t include in a trade, substantial mins
New York’s Leon Rose set a Monday night deadline with Utah to reach an agreement on a trade for Mitchell – or the Knicks would commit to the Barrett extension, sources said. Knicks, Jazz closed gap on deal points in recent days on a Mitchell trade, but neither would go further.
Not enough people talking about how if Utah does Donovan Mitchell wrong and keeps him on that G-League squad…
Screwing over a CAA client will haunt them in free agency/trades and will come with years of consequences.
But yes, Utah fans, I’m open to discuss your leverage lol
If the Bulls are the ones calling the Knicks, which they are per Jake Fisher, I’m not offering anything more than a couple protected first rounders, Fournier, Toppin, and Rose/cap-filler.
What a joke. I’m not trading RJ for Zion STRAIGHT UP, 1-for-1…never mind for RJ + another young asset + 4 1sts.
If the Pelicans wanna play hard ball, we’ll just sign him as an unrestricted free agent after he opts into his qualifying offer next summer.
Would you make this ESPN reporter’s Knicks trade with the Pelicans for Zion Williamson?
“We’re starting with RJ Barrett….I’m asking for Barrett and another one of their quality young players - and I’m asking for at least 4 first round picks”
Man…this Zion video is a tough watch and makes it much easier to understand why the Pelicans are open to trading him.
He’s a kid but he has so much to work on - clearly isn’t dieting, admitted that the money has/still is impacting his desire to elevate his game, etc.
Woof.
There isn’t an NBA GM / FO member that has the balls to go on the record (with their name) and say RJ Barrett isn’t a key piece.
Let them talk. RJ is 22 years old and just finished a season averaging 20 PPG.
Zion Williamson has played 85 games in 3 years.
I hope Leon calls Ainge this morning and takes a pick/player off the table.
Every day that passes is another day closer to Donovan Mitchell arriving at training camp with a G-League roster around him.
Jazz fans, this isn’t 2K22. He’s gonna ask out.
I’m over the Mitchell stuff. Let’s see what our dawgs got and how they develop this year.
Add CAA and the Knicks to the list of people that won’t be doing business with ole Danny Ainge going forward.
Leon, this is Danny Ainge. He got 5 picks for Rudy Gobert. The rest of the NBA knows it was an overpay and how MIN is in their own tier of desperation. He now wants more for Donovan Mitchell but the whole league knows he’s tearing it down + we’re the only team with a solid offer.
Initial reaction:
- RJ Barrett is who he is. He’s regressed again this year. Net negative asset w/ his contract and play.
- IQ is going to be the most obvious ‘Thibs was an idiot for not playing him more’ player.
- OG in Thibs’ defensive schemes is going to elevate his game
Embiid should have been ejected in the 1st and goes on to have 50 points.
These refs should be ashamed. We should file grievances with the league office. That’s how this works, right?
Mark Cuban penny pinching Jalen Brunson in 2021 has got to be…one of the biggest front office botches in sports history?
Could you imagine if Brunson was on a 4/$55.6M contract right now? Sheesh.
Am I in the minority of people that actually doesn’t mind James Dolan these days?
Used to be low hanging fruit to point at him as the main reason for decades of horrible Knicks basketball but the guy has been in quarantine since Leon Rose was hired.
- Jalen Brunson is a cornerstone
- 2nd half of the season RJ is here early this year
- I just know this front office - once a group I was very confident in - is going to hold onto Julius Randle (peak value ATM) and have to attach picks to get rid of him in a year or two.

Quickley can be interchangeable between the 1 and 2. I don't think this eats his minutes too much. Plus Kemba is bound to get hurt at some point but this is one of the biggest low risk high rewards of the NBA offseason. Credit to Brock and Leon.
I never want to hear Donovan Mitchell wanted to be a Knick ever again. He doesn’t/didn’t, and that’s ok.
If Donovan Mitchell wanted to be a Knick, he would have publicly stated he would only play long-term in New York. That didn’t happen and now the big market he goes to is CLE.
The point of this tweet is not that RJ is on-par with Donovan…because he’s not, yet.
The point is Danny Ainge wants multiple picks ON TOP OF RJ.
If you think this isn’t ridiculous, I don’t know what to say to you.
@Markbristow22
So much better of a fit than Donovan Mitchell too. Sure a little drop in offense but size + defense + familiarity. The chemistry is undeniable- I don’t think they could ever be unhappy playing together.
Crazy that if Phil Jackson hadn’t fallen asleep during Donovan Mitchell’s draft workout, we might not have had to trade 7494838 first round picks to acquire him
Unless we get back a significant asset, I don’t want to move D-Rose.
- Too solid of a depth piece / mentor to ship out for a couple 2nd rounders
- I get the too many cooks in the kitchen argument, but we’re one JB injury away from Alec Burks-esque PG play w/o 🌹
- IQ is a SG
Knicks Receive: Porzingis
Wizards Receive: Fournier, Hartenstein, Reddish, WAS’ own protected 1st round pick in ‘23 and DET’s unprotected 2nd round pick in ‘24.
• Porzingis x Randle front court is fascinating from a spacing perspective
• Don’t know if WAS accepts this
