I always loved seeing industry animatorsโ student work when I was younger. Seeing the jump in skill was inspirational for me, and looking at my old work often helped me beat my imposter syndrome. So I decided to make one of my own!

Was talking to a student the other day and they asked about the demo reel that got me into the industry, so I went and found it!

Animated all the faces in this shot! The character needed to look like they were talking, but wouldnt actually be heard thanks to montage music, so now this is canonically true!

Destiny 2 x Mass Effect Finisher

The eyes, nose, and brows can move anywhere on the body because they are geo constrained. The feet can also detach from the body to operate separately

I had the opportunity to work on Party Animal Danza's VXG Emote. Ive absolutely ruined my yt algorithm watching shuffling videos but it was worth it.
We ( I ) love saying that the Animators Survival Kit isnโt useful until we ( I ) need to animate a walk cycle. Then we ( I ) google the same image from the book of walk cycle key poses

In Hogwarts Legacy, the avatar had turn, start, and stop animations every 15 degrees, sometimes even less, for walk, run, and sprint. Thats 70+ animations that 90% of people wont ever notice. Enemies had the same treatment every 45 degrees
You tell a group of gamers that "oh, we added turn in place animations to the game" and they look at you with dumbfounded eyes. "You mean, you didn't HAVE animations that play when your character turns around? That was in every game ever!"
Yes. Games do not come with that, lol
In an attempt to justify the ridiculous amount of rigs Iโve downloaded from the internet Iโve made a randomizer in Excel that randomly selects a rig from my list, and then i have to make a shot or game cycle with it.
Iโll continue until im out of rigs.

Any day of the week I would be more impressed seeing art someone made on their own than seeing art that someone has โenhancedโ with Ai. There is no longer any intent in the work and as far as im concerned its no longer what the artist made

How do people even come up with animation ideas ๐ฉ i want to take part in the animchallenge thing but im so bad at formulating and idea and putting that to paper. I overthink all my ideas to the point that i get lost in them
Is there a job in animation that is just making pickers for rigs? Keep in mind, i dont want to rig or do anything technical, i just want to make pickers look nice
