I requested to have it in my apartment but my leasing office said I had to prove that Iโm Deaf by paying for audiologist. Which my insurance doesnโt cover.

Strobe Fire Alarms are a life saver for deaf people. They cost more so most people and business do not use them, but they are so worth the extra money if you have a hearing loss.
@bluejay19xx
You can sue them for that because that is against fair housing. Your request for reasonable accommodation should've been met. All you have to do is provide a statement from your MD not pay for an audiologist.

Discrimination in housing is covered under the Fair Housing Act. HUD enforces it. Look for a Fair Housing Office where you live. They helped me.
@bluejay19xx
Look into Fair Housing Laws in your area!!! Also if it helps, some local hospitals have med school programs who offer reduced cost services. Sometimes CVS does them for free as well.

Blind people have a certificate of blindness as proof of disability. Is there such a thing for deaf/hard of hearing individuals? they should already have those accommodations in ADA units. Thatโs unacceptable

@ravenscimaven
An ADA lawyer would likely be able to get significant damages if they refused to fix it. And write the sort of letter to encourage fixing it without having to sue.
@bluejay19xx
I would think that's a violation of ADA compliance... You're documented as being deaf and I'm guessing you're registered as being disabled due to being deaf. That should be more then enough proof. I'd suggest looking into finding free legal aid resources you can contact.
