I walked out of The Last Jedi and watched every Star Wars ever made for the screen and then The Force Awakens at least 20 times within two months. I walked out of The Rise of Skywalker never wanting to see a Star Wars ever again.
do they hate money? I think they hate money

as problematic as AHL was, it shows how important it was to the boys to not simply take rap and hip hop, but to honor the history and transform the art for their own stories. the shift in their music post-AHL is proof of this imo
I shouldn't have to walk on eggshells to explain why I ship Reylo
Rey is a Disney princess and Ben is a Disney prince and they got a Disney kiss.
there's not argument to be had
There's a huge misunderstanding here of what villains actually are/what they represent. A storyteller doesn't write a villain solely to reflect bad people irl and punish them within the fiction. Villains are there as adversaries to the heroes - they're intrinsically linked +
Yall. Willow (2022) is now a lost piece of art. It's a cult classic. It's been banned from the mainstream distributions. It's in our rebellious duty to continue to consume it and to shove it in their faces.
Like honestly, propaganda is first and foremost *funded*
Even if a fanfic has an agenda behind it (rare) it still couldn't be propaganda. There is no grand conspiracy behind proshipping. There is no conspiracy behind anti-censorship efforts.
imagine reading your kaeluc abo mpreg lactation kink fanfic but then some random twt user with a savior complex starts treating it as a political issue, calling it propaganda and then gaining thousands of likes out of it โ ๏ธ
Unpopular opinion of the week:
Guys should learn to adapt to women's media. We've been doing the reverse for years.
Scream this from the highest mountain pls
what is even the message of using two crossed lightsabers which belong to two twins but ACTUALLY one of them is really Anakin's so it's the legacy saber and a saber we didn't even know existed till now that belonged to Leia who had absolutely no relationship w/her father
one of the worst things Lucasfilm has done is refuse to give us Reylo promo-shoots or Reylo merch.
it's been long enough now that I can say this. I'm really fucking mad about it.
I'm sorry but... the Jedi aren't examples of heroes to me. Obi Wan, Qui Gon, Ahsoka, Luke, Han, Leia, Ben, Rey... those are heroes.
the space wizard police force or space Templars or whatever they are, are not interesting unless they have epic heroes that choose their own path.
this is like the "women are only attracted to kylo ren because they want to f*ck adam driver" or the "women are only attracted to colonel brandon cause they want to f*ck alan rickman" hot takes
maybe we're just attracted to interesting, multi dimensional characters, karen
Lots of thoughts about the Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot Snow White nonsense but at the heart of it all is that these women do not know what they're speaking on, and they're not to be trusted. Snow White is a warrior AND a lover.
there are two things I have extreme issues with coming out of the film.
1) this film is not about carving your own path and finding the balance between two dualities. it is about sacrifice. this is the American Monomyth, not Campbell's monomyth.
goddamn are we not allowed to be critical at all because a group of men were previously critical and that criticism grew into toxic and abusive behavior?
like... it was never the criticism that was bad. it was how their criticism was masking obvious sexist/racist views
Domhall, you sweet man... it's ok, I'll say it for you...
JJ ABRAMS IS WRONG AND HE SHOULD KNOW THAT AND PEOPLE SHOULD STOP TELLING HIM HE'S A GOOD FILMMAKER CAUSE HE'S MEDIOCRE AT BEST AND HE FAILED US ALL
The wild context for the George Lucas quote that's not really a quote: "If the boy and girl walk off into the sunset hand-in-hand in the last scene, it adds 10 million to the box office."
thread+
I think this is the time to say this.
I think TROS is the most uninspired film I've ever seen. it's stale. it's flat. it's devoid of passion.
it's like digging into a fish taco that was served with too many toppings and not enough fish... and the toppings aren't fresh.
so men can write monsters, live vicariously through their twisted morality and bloodlust, but women aren't allowed to write and transform them into romantic partners?
this further makes my point that feminine gaze is transformative and the patriarchy is afraid of transformation.
I very much dispise Rey Skywalker Saga ยฉ๏ธ
it should've been Ben and Rey, period.
light and dark, yin and yang, feminine and masculine, the old legacy and the new legacy.
both Terrio and Trev didn't like TLJ. they fundamentally disagreed with it. neither of them should've been able to write the script for the end of the Saga
Joseph Campbell believed in happy endings. George Lucas believed in happy endings. what is that? a "happy ending"? it's whatever the heroes WANT. it's what they learn that they NEED along their journey. Rey and Ben WANTED a family and learned they NEEDED each other. and then ?
today's worst line in TROS is when Rey said she wasn't worthy of the saber that called to her, that came to her rather than Ben, and that SHE REPAIRED ON HER OWN ๐ฅด
this criticism on "culture of negativity" doesn't sit well with me for obvious reasons. these types of takes lump all not-positive viewpoints together and disregards concerns of sexism, racism, and other legitimate criticisms of TROS as being simply "negative." overgeneralized ๐๏ธ

it's like people have forgotten that the most iconic villains are not actually based on serial killers or murderous dictators, but our own internal darkness. studying what makes a villain, a villain is not a third party, voyeuristic ordeal. it should be an internal journey.
the act of loving is punished at the end of the Skywalker Saga.
TROS says "that's how we win. not by saving what we love, but fighting what we hate. unless you're Ben Solo. then you can save what you love, but you have to give up your life to do so."
now there's an argument that calling antis "antis" is silencing marginalized voices for real social injustices.
you're an "anti" cause you take issue with a fictional pairing. you're against two fake people kissing. you chose that stance. you are anti-ship.
it's not that deep
There is no such thing as "shipping culture" please just disengage from online fandom for a moment and talk to people irl about shows. You might be surprised that general audiences actually enjoy romance being at the heart of a story. It's literally what keeps shows on air.
love how the sequel trilogy had the potential to be better - yes, better, in every sense of the word - than the original trilogy, and they just... stabbed the ball to purposely deflate it in the third act
it's really unfortunate that LF doesn't realize that the problems of the Jedi Order they have been left perpetually unresolved and problematic has put a bad taste in our mouths for all content involving the Jedi.
Has anyone talked about, speculated/noticed that Reyโs staff has what look like lightsaber parts?
My son pointed it out to me the last time we went to the Disney store in Downtown Disney.
it's so funny that women Reylos knew that Poe and Rey wouldn't get along and often wrote Poe into fics as Ben's foil, but these men wrote Poe as either the main romantic lead or had Rey and Poe bickering with no reason or meaning in the story for either of them ๐ฌ so so funny
"Loki should've learned to love himself on his own"
y'all realize that the way these stories ALWAYS go is that the person sees themselves through someone, sees hope, then they have a moment where they are alone and do have to learn to love themselves without that other person
the cowardice masked as "I don't give af" I can't even
if it actually doesn't bother you, if you are above it all, why would u make a video with everyone's names on full display? you absolute coward wow
2) the end was planned from the beginning. the Skywalker line was destined to die out and it's bullshit. they took the easy way out. TLJ was about how bloodlines don't matter. TROS made bloodlines the entire point of the Saga. it rejected the themes of TLJ+
I've been working on this for longer than I'd like to admit. Here's a spoiler-heavy edit for Volume 1. I ADORE this story and everyone involved in it.

I know ppl are out for blood for JJ rn but I just want to remind you who made a lot of the story decisions for this film and that a lot of ppl trusted this man to end the Saga without consulting the story group... and he'll never have to answer for it.
me: I'm not a delulu shipper, I just think they're pretty together
also me: *checks Tu's insta several times today to see if Bright liked her latest post*
Tonight I met a ten yr old kid who LOVES Star Wars. Has seen all the films. Has all the Lego builds of the new ships.
I asked him if Kylo Ren should be redeemed. He answered "Ben has more light in him than Vader did."
I love this kid.
Hot take but the term Mary Sue was always mean and sexist. Just because it was created by a woman doesn't legitimize it and Paula Smith and her zine were wrong when they published it.
I don't understand why so many ppl put more emphasis on Ben's death than anything else. every single character was done wrong in TROS. Rey was done more of a disservice as a character - for what she stood for, for the female fandom - than Ben dying.
reylos bringing up the ship dynamic through any conversation about star wars is not "derailing the conversation"
it's fandom. this what fans do. they talk about what they love most in the thing they love. it's all related to them. your anger is your problem
seeing all the reylos tweet "honk honk" now is funny every damn time. in case you don't know the origin, here's the original tweet from 2019, which was supposed to be an insult.
I love us
ty, after hours:
I really enjoy how body-positive and sexually-positive reylos are. I'm 28, got one sexual partner in my life (the only one ever), am trying to make a baby and have had two miscarriages this year.
this fandom has been... like a literal lifesaver.
yes, I'm a little bitter that threads that break down why TROS is bad get more attention from blue checkmarks when they are 1) written to sound more 'scientific' and 'analytical', and 2) by men
I've seen the same points raised by women that get very little attention
this is important
maggie nowakowska and tish wells discussing what brought fanzines to an end.
remember that fanzines were created by mostly women (90 percent to be more exact) and you can guess how that percentage played out in official SW books prior to the disney era.
while maintaining the surface level symbolism. it's cheap and it's frankly offensive. at some times it made the movie feel like a joke.
I broke down after coming home. I feel like I actually lost someone, and for what? there was no reason for that. no point.
#willow
offered what the other fantasies shows didn't. With the new D&D coming out, I really hope
@DisneyPlus
sees how much they messed up. Audiences were looking for fun and whimsy to counter the grimdark and serious fantasy that we already have. Willow was a breath of fresh air
in tros Kylo literally says "you have his power" to Rey
but according to the novel, her dad was a Palps clone who didn't have the force
so where do her powers come from?
what is canon?
the thing about the live-action MULAN is that it seems to have learned a bunch of bad lessons from STAR WARS: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER, including "what if mulan had midi-chlorians?" my review:
LF doesn't realize how massive the reylo fandom is compared to other sub groups, and that the reylo fandom is the largest subgroup including mostly women
if they do know then they all need to be replaced
#RiseofKyloren
spoilers
this in particular hit hard. it's the realization of the third path - just be who you are. but just like the Saga, it gets cut short, and we're back to believing you can only be light or dark.
Within the context of the time and the state of the franchise, The Last Jedi will actually go down in history as one of the best movies, period. It's undeniable.
being in the star wars fandom is surreal because only about 20% of the individuals creating stories for the franchise understand what drew in new fans in the past few years
It would be a grave mistake to remove Willow just months after it was released and loved by so many.
@DisneyPlus
we were still in the process of building the fandom and you want to rip it from us completely. It's villainous behavior.
Disney+โs documentaryย โHowardโ will not be removed from the service. โThe list of titles coming off of Hulu and Disney+ next week is still being finalized ,โ a rep for the company said, indicating that there could be additional changes
yall remember that the fandom menace re-edited TLJ without women
but reylos re-edited this scene with all of the canon material that JJerio forgot about when making TROS
Star Wars fanboys: "I don't wanna see another Vader. I wanna see him be evil and then die by Rey's hand!"
Reylos: "I don't wanna see another Vader. I wanna see him live and atone for what he's done!"
Star Wars: Kylo Ren is another Vader
anyone else still trying to figure out how to deal with this sudden existential dread caused mostly by a Disney movie?
it's been a month and it's gotten worse.
once again I am lamenting how a multi million dollar franchise failed in delivering the final installment of a decades-old story because of the hubris of man
it's twilight zone levels of weird that LF employees don't want to say anything about the canon romance but please please please tell your fellow reylos to stop @'ing the creators. our fan experience is so much better without them
"Disney removed Willow because it sucked" is not an opinion people should have. If you say this, anything else that follows is wrong too. Art is not good or bad. Stories shouldn't be treated like garbage, period.
You, on the other hand, are a garbage person.
it's not creative or interesting to make the audience sympathize with a character you're just going to kill off without giving the character anything they actually wanted or *needed*
it's not brave. it's not original. it's not challenging.
it's lazy.
