Today I received 7 phone calls from parents of 8-12 yr olds regarding tryouts .It is sad, downright WRONG what is going on with youth baseball at these levels. No wonder why youth leagues are seeing dramatic reductions. Travel Baseball 8u-12u needs to give the game back 2 kids!

As a Head coach at the college level. I never once recruited a young man who wasn’t a WE type player. I once drove to Portland ME to recruit a player, last guy off the bus, put spikes on away from teammates, didn’t stretch with teammates. That was a HARD PASS! All ME no WE = ❌

Went 2 16u game 2 see a player.Batted 9th, 1-3, moved runners into scoring position,took hard turn on gap single,forced over throw, standing on 2b,took a 3-1 FB with team trailing 3-1 in 7th,bright future and college prospect. Dad was bummed hitting 9th, “0 worries, he can play!”
