I’m sorry but it is wild to me that primary care pediatricians are refusing to see sick kids until they have a negative PCR. We are PRIMARY CARE DOCS. This is what we do. Waiting days for a negative PCR isn’t an option for every kid. This is worsening inequities & will hurt kids.

Anyway, I never told my dad but I wonder what he would have said. He thought very highly of the guy. I was 20 or so and left feeling insulted and uneasy (and also he didn’t help diagnose my actual problem) but as a 32 yo physician I am disgusted by behavior like this.

My sweet little 6 who has always struggled with low weight has GAINED a pound since starting stimulants for ADHD a month ago. He can finally sit still at mealtimes and focus on the task of eating. He says he feels calm and smart. I am so happy for him 🥰

I’ve made it to 8 weeks of pumping and providing exclusively breast milk to feed Baby 🍋, despite prematurity, physical separation, C-section, low supply, and all the other speed bumps along the way. I didn’t think I’d be able to do it, but we made it. Now on to the next 8 weeks!

Once again, the issue is not that women docs don’t want to be confused with nurses. The issue is that when we see patients, share our time and expertise, patients will often complain they “haven’t seen a doc yet!”—because of our gender.

If you want to be a primary care pediatrician, you should be able to manage straightforward asthma & at least be willing to start kids on ICS while awaiting a pulm appointment to keep them out of the hospital. The same is true of basic anxiety/depression meds & oral contraception

Baby Lemon arrived unexpectedly early at 34 weeks via urgent C-section for PPROM in the setting of vasa previa. She is doing wonderfully in the NICU! We have been so so fortunate to have such an amazing team of OBs, nurses, neonatologists, and anesthesiologists caring for us.
