If you “avoid” the knees by shoving them back as you squat up, it will make this aspect null and void. But if you push down through the knees and use your legs to squat yourself up, you will effectively use more quad and therefore build more strength and density in your quads.

It COULD be cheating if you do not push down through your knees. If you push your knees forward/use your quads, you actually will only help INCREASE your ankle mobility due to the extra weight on your ankles pulling you deeper into a stretch.

Great question! I think that’s pretty common. There could be several factors. ATG Split Squats are UNDERRATED for low back. Split Squats + Seated Goodmornings = improved deep squat ability. I recommend the Back Ability program on the ATG app:

@Cerk26 @kneesovertoesg Oh man! Sorry to hear that. We’ve helped many people handle those issues even though we don’t address conditions. Increasing you pain free ability is how we bulletproof against injury and handle pain. Walking backwards is a great start and I suggest checking out the Zero program!
