Very late to the party but Susanna Clarke's Piranesi is hands down one of the best books I've ever read. Very hard to talk about without impacting on the reading experience, as discovery is a major joy in the book.

They literally knew how to get to the Moon. As a result of a crap ton of calculation and huge amounts of planning. They got to the Moon by very carefully working out how you get to the Moon. Jesus Christ do not make the Moon landing some kind of triumph of ignorance.

So I discover that Marvel's character Silk was bitten by *the same spider* that bit Peter Parker and now I am delighted the spider apparently survived its encounter with PP and if Marvel want me to write a comic where that radioactive spider is the main character I am here for it

Handed in the MS of my new book to the agent. By which I mean I sent the MS, then sent the correct version, then told him not to read that because I was changing it, sent him the revised one then sent him another one where I'd got the chapter headings right.

My first contact with LotR was the radio play, which I heard staticky bits of in my dad's car. I was utterly baffled but determined to learn more because of one character. Imagine my disappointment when, at 13, I read the book and found Aragorn was not in fact called 'Spider'.

The success of UK vaccination isn't due to greed. It's a no-profit jab rolled out by a socialised medicine system. It's the one thing UK gov has done that's worked efficiently and well, without vanishing into a hole of corruption, self-interest and nepotism - aka 'greed'.

FB and Twitter seem to have about the same frequency of ads (around 1 in 5 posts). The difference being that FB, for all its sins, reckons I like board games and RPGs, whereas Twitter apparently thinks I like cryptcurrency and gambling.
