’s Charlottesville plaintiffs just won our lawsuit against the neo-Nazis, white supremacists, and hate groups responsible for the Unite the Right violence — securing huge financial judgments.
(I am typing this through tears.)
Biden’s speech tonight was precisely what a president should say at a moment when democracy is under siege by violent extremists.
And the fact that some are debating decorum — instead of the fascist threats to our democracy — is exactly why we’re here in the first place.
A “Camp Auschwitz” shirt. This is who these people are.
You can draw a straight line from today back to Charlottesville, where the neo-Nazis proclaimed: “Next stop Charlottesville. Final stop, Auschwitz."
I was the witness MTG lectured about Manuel Terán supposedly killing a Georgia State Trooper.
Except that didn’t happen. Manuel Terán was the one who was killed. No police officer was killed. ()
Greene: They actually murdered someone. Oh you don’t know because you don’t study left-wing extremism. There was a 26 year old activist, Manuel Terán, shot and killed Georgia State Trooper

Underwood’s Trump Foundation lawsuit:
As the AG’s lawsuit detailed, the Trump Foundation functioned as a personal piggy bank to serve Trump's business & political interests
A festival in VA canceled a menorah lighting — which had nothing to do with Israel —because it claimed celebrating Chanukah would imply support for the “killing/bombing” of Gaza.
It is antisemitic to hold Jews collectively responsible for Israel. Period.
Your Jewish friends are not doing ok right now. Even the ones who have spent years steeped in the conflict and who have been fighting for peace & human rights for all.
The epigenetic trauma of seeing Jews pulled from their homes, kidnapped, & killed — it’s real. 1/
Can we talk about these sweet photos of

@FLOTUS
while walking to Marine One? Taken by my talented former colleague
@demetriusfreem
.
In 1974, when she was teaching at
@YaleLawSch
, Barbara Underwood put this
@NewYorker
cartoon on her fridge: “I’m afraid by the time I grow up it will be too late to be the first woman anything.”
I’m 2018, Barbara became the first woman to serve as NY Attorney General.
This morning, I’m grateful to work with the best colleagues in the business - including Barbara Underwood, who will be acting NY AG. She’s argued 20 cases before SCOTUS, clerked for Thurgood Marshall, & much more. The work continues.
This guy is wearing a boogaloo patch front and center. Boogaloo extremists are committed to a second civil war, and are among the extremists seemingly trying to coopt these protests.
No reporter should be quoting this guy without that basic context. Come on.
“If I have to make myself a target to keep people safe I while they speak their minds I will 100 percent,” the born & raised KY resident & military combat veteran said.
He said he wants people to be able to protest peacefully.
That’s an AR-15 he’s holding.
1/2 Sad that the outrage media has gone crazy about my recent intv with Glenn Beck.What I said was accurate.Many in South Carolina did see the confederate flag as symbolizing heritage, and many others saw it as symbolling hate.That’s why it was such a difficult issue for so long.
I was just sent this photo taken during the hearing. To be fair, my face could have been in response to any number of MTG comments, including:
*falsely claiming a cop was killed
*telling me abortion is the real white supremacist violence
*claiming that there’s a “trans invasion”
2019 in America: a school principal wouldn’t provide Holocaust education because, he claims, it is a “belief” and he must be “politically neutral.”
“I can’t say the Holocaust is a factual, historical event...”
A former GOP candidate in Albuquerque was arrested for conspiring with — and paying — four other men to shoot at the homes of four Democratic officials.
And right-wing political violence has become so common, this will barely break through…
Lots to learn about today’s horrific mass shooting in Buffalo. But there’s no question: the crisis of white supremacist violence has been made infinitely worse by politicians and pundits who have normalized Replacement Theory over the last few years. Full stop.
This does not take away from the real suffering of the Palestinian people, and the many other layers to the conflict and the region.
But when we see people celebrating the massacre of Jews as “resistance,” that is not ok — and it does nothing to advance peace and safety. 2/
MSNBC’s
@GadiNBC
just walked by a guy in a Hawaiian shirt with a massive gun outside the Phoenix vote counting center, asked him if he was a boogaloo boy, and the guy said yes - live on air. That is how emboldened these extremists are right now.
Please stop comparing things that don’t involve Nazis to the Nazis. There is no scenario in which that is necessary or ok. cc:

This *insane* idea that public servants “can’t do anything” in a moment of crisis is a perfect illustration of how many on the right now perceive public service. It’s not about serving the public -- it’s about grandstanding and obstructing.
So this is insane. The law is clear that the federal government doesn’t have the right to use state and local police as federal immigration agents. Taking away New Yorkers’ Global Entry to pressure the state to help deport people is truly totalitarian.
NEWS: DOJ finally admits that Wilbur Ross talked to Steve Bannon about the decision to demand citizenship info on the
#2020Census
. Ross suddenly “recalls” this now, in a new DOJ filing in
@NewYorkStateAG
et al’s suit. It’s no wonder they’ve been fighting Ross’ deposition...
To be very clear about what Hawley is saying:
“Globalists” means Jews.
“East Palestine & the working people” means white people.
And it’s precisely rhetoric like this - and other similar lies and conspiracy theories - that’s emboldening violent white supremacists.
I’m really sick of media & viral social media posts painting the Jewish community in a false binary: pro-Israel or pro-Palestinian.
The vast majority of American Jews support Israel (but not necessarily its government) AND believe in Palestinian humanity & self-determination.
We should be clear: Nazis marched on Nashville today because Nazis are emboldened by increasingly normalized antisemitism and white supremacy from our politicians, pundits, and social media. None of it happens in a vacuum.
our office is closely monitoring the Nazi rally downtown—
these groups once relegated to the dark corners now feel empowered to spew their noxious ideology out in the open due to our state’s leadership REFUSING to condemn their speech and actions.
"You have good genes, you know that, right? You have good genes. A lot of it is about the genes, isn't it, don't you believe? The racehorse theory. You think we're so different? You have good genes in Minnesota." -- Trump
The sleazy New York Democrats, and their now disgraced (and run out of town) A.G. Eric Schneiderman, are doing everything they can to sue me on a foundation that took in $18,800,000 and gave out to charity more money than it took in, $19,200,000. I won’t settle this case!...
It’s me. I’m “Witness.”
And nearly a year after this hearing, the increasingly-normalized extremism, hate, and disinformation on display from officials like MTG should still frighten all of us.
Witness: “In 2022 … every single politically motivated murder was committed by a rightwing extremist.
MTG: “Are you sure about that?”
Witness: “I am.”
MTG: “The TN shooter ... was she a right-wing extremist?”
Witness: “That happened in 2023.” (2023)
Some highlights from the decision:
Justice Scarpulla finds she has jurisdiction over Trump.
She also denies the motion to dismiss on statute of limitations grounds or due to Trump’s claims of political bias, “given the very serious allegations set forth in the [AG’s] petition”
The man who shot and killed a CA store owner over her pride flag trafficked in anti-LGBTQ, antisemitic, anti-vax, and other forms of extremism — because all of these conspiracy theories and hate are deeply interconnected.
Travis Ikeguchi has been identified as the man who shot and killed Lauri Carleton over her pride flag. Based on his limited twitter activity, Ikeguchi was anti-gay, antivax, antisemitic, anti-choice, and an RFJ Jr. fan.
Your daily reminder that Israelis and Palestinians are real people. Most simply want to go about their lives in peace and safety. Their deaths (or kidnappings or injuries) should never be celebrated, no matter how you feel about their government or leaders.
My grandparents would not have been able to immigrate to the U.S. after surviving the Holocaust had this been the case then. Neither would many (most?) Americans’ ancestors. 💔
BREAKING: On 5-4 vote, Supreme Court lets Trump administration start enforcing new immigrant wealth test, designed to screen out green card applicants seen as being at risk of becoming "public charges".
Scarpulla also finds that AG’s petition sufficiently alleges breach of fiduciary duty, as well as our claim that Trump intentionally used Foundation assets for his private interests knowing it might not be in the Foundation’s best interest.
She denies Trump request for discovery
The Virginia man who drove his truck into a crowd of protesters is an admitted leader of the Ku Klux Klan:
One of his fellow white supremacists did the same thing nearly three years ago, not that far away, in Charlottesville. This is a deliberate tactic.
There are so many layers of danger here. Defining Judaism as a nationality pours fuel on the fire of the anti-Semitic trope that Jews are “disloyal."
Jewish Americans are American. That is our nationality.
President Trump will sign an executive order defining Judaism as a nationality, not just a religion, thus bolstering the Education Department's efforts to stamp out "Boycott Israel" movements on college campuses
My thoughts and prayers are with all those who have been devastated by Stephen Miller’s white nationalist policies, including the many in immigration detention centers subjected to horrifically unsafe COVID conditions.

Scarpulla says that the AG’s petition sufficiently alleges that Trump’s interests in the Iowa fundraiser & disbursements were financial in nature & substantial. She rejects argument that the benefits were incidental, & cites NY statute’s “strong remedial purpose” re self-dealing
I can’t stop thinking about the full-on revolt that would have happened if I called a press conference at the NY AG or NYC Mayor’s office and told reporters the materials wouldn’t be released for another hour-and-a-half.
There is literally no plausible explanation for the gap between the so-called “press conference” & report release other than trying to control the narrative.
When we say Jews are being gaslighted about what happened Oct. 7, this is what we mean.
It’s not hard: you can stand up for Palestinian humanity and rights without turning to conspiracy theories, antisemitism, and support for terrorism. And yet.

There is nothing partisan about calling out the normalization of extremism among the GOP. The people flouting “norms” are the GOP leaders who have emboldened and embraced Nazis, promoted violent extremism, and advanced authoritarian policies. Full stop.
This is not an anomaly. Full-fledged support from Nazis, Replacement Theory, authoritarian policies & rhetoric fueling violence — all features, not bugs, of the GOP right now.
It can’t be partisan to say so, & horse race media coverage only accelerates the antidemocratic crisis.
3 weeks ago marked the deadliest day for Jews since the Holocaust & I’m still heartbroken.
I’m mourning the many killed - Israelis & Palestinians - and terrified for the hostages.
But I’m also broken over the callous antisemitism being normalized in

If you’re going to support Nazi websites as part of your business model, maybe don’t pretend like you’re doing it in the interest of fighting Nazism.
@slpng_giants
If you’re going to tell me that abortion is white supremacy — but avowed white supremacists are somehow not a real threat — at least get my name right. 🤷♀️
Calling for a “complete boycott” of and to “cut ties” with Hillel — the center of Jewish life on most campuses, where students attend Shabbat & holidays, do social justice & interfaith work, and come together as a Jewish community — is antisemitic. And ridiculous.
How hard is it for women to get credit for their work?
@NewYorkStateAG
Barbara Underwood filed suit on June 14th against the Trump Foundation, yet Trump’s lawyer is trying to argue that the suit is the doing of the former AG who resigned May 7th. 🤷♀️
*NEW*
@NewYorkStateAG
filing: "the Trump Foundation was a shell corporation that functioned as a checkbook," used to benefit Trump's business and political interests.
Here's the full filing, opposing Trump's motion to dismiss AG Underwood's lawsuit:
If you’re a public servant in a moment of crisis (and, you know, in general), you literally do *anything* you can do to protect and serve the constituents who hired and pay you.
And if you’re a US Senator, you have unique reach and power to direct resources and information.
Neo-Nazi Andrew Anglin runs the Daily Stormer, the leading neo-Nazi site. He’s a defendant in
@IntegrityforUSA
’s suit for orchestrating the Charlottesville violence.
Anglin heard Trump’s “stand by” comments and voter fraud disinfo exactly as intended: as a call for a race war.
I’m not going to share the video but in case you’re wondering, “Zionists don’t deserve to live” is deeply antisemitic and should be universally condemned by anyone whose stated goals are peace and justice.
This is how the Charlottesville neo-Nazis reacted after we sued them — avoiding future violent events because they didn’t want to be sued again.
Accountability works. Proud Boy Tarrant was arrested last week and is now discouraging his members from attending upcoming events.
I worked for various NY officials during Hurricane Sandy, big blizzards, & other crises. For example, during Sandy we organized door-to-door delivery of food & meds in public housing.
Those were our busiest - and most impactful - moments. It was precisely why taxpayers paid us.
Tucker Carlson is now openly and explicitly promoting the very same white supremacist conspiracy theory that fueled the Charlottesville, Pittsburgh, Christchurch, Poway, and El Paso attacks (among others).
A security guard at an Ohio Jewish academy and former National Guardsman was arrested after posting a photo of him holding a gun: “I’m at a Jewish school and about to make it everyone’s problem.”
(He posted on Discord — where Unite the Right was planned.)
A child is dead and Oklahoma elected officials respond by saying they “don’t want that filth in our state.”
This dehumanization - in the form of bigoted rhetoric and deeply dangerous policies - will only jeopardize more lives.

LISTEN: "We don't want that filth in our state"
Oklahoma State Sen. Tom Woods responds to a question about the death of Nex Benedict, a nonbinary student, following an altercation in a high school bathroom.
These are the "role models" of this state where Nex died.
Antisemitism isn’t simply a form of prejudice. It’s also a conspiracy theory intended to undermine trust in our democracy.
Unsurprisingly,
@maddow

Neo-Nazi Richard Spencer’s lawyer is currently arguing before the court that he should be allowed to withdraw as counsel because Spencer has not paid him or communicated with him. Spencer is a defendant in

Putting aside that Pence has been around a skyrocketing list of people w/ COVID — why is his official govt staffer handling his campaign comms? Katie Miller is paid by the taxpayers & now using that role to attack Kamala.

I really don’t know what’s going to happen at Columbia — or elsewhere — tonight. But I’m confident that none of it will make Israelis, Palestinians, Jews, or anyone else safer. 💔
@IntegrityforUSA
This case has sent a clear message: violent hate won’t go unanswered.
And at a moment of rising extremism, major threats to our democracy, and far too little justice, this case has provided a model for accountability:
If you’re targeting Jewish people, organizations, and events — like a Shabbat dinner — for the actions of the Israeli government, you’re engaging in antisemitism.
It’s really not hard to find another location, unless of course your goal is to harass Jews….
Whether canceling menorah lightings, or vandalizing synagogues, or targeting Jewish-owned businesses — again, holding Jews collectively responsible for Israel’s actions is antisemitism.
That Goldie is owned by Mike Solomonov, an outspoken peace advocate, only underscores it.
Barbara Underwood has agreed to resume her former role as NY Solicitor General in January.
Barbara will remain AG through the end of the year.
@TishJames
will be sworn in as AG on January 1st.
I’m confident these two history-making women will continue to make history together.
To be clear: we live in a country where Jews can't go to synagogue without worrying that they might be murdered.
That should not be acceptable to anyone. Nor should it be used as an excuse to spread bigotry and hate against any community -- which only makes all of us less safe.
@IntegrityforUSA
Neo-Nazi Richard Spencer says
@IntegrityforUSA
’s Charlottesville suit has been “financially crippling” to him for a long time.
He says it’s hard to raise money because he’s been deplatformed from a number of sites. “I’m in a very difficult situation in terms of getting funds."
Many things can be true at the same time:
1. Israel and the Jewish people are not one and the same — AND many Jews are deeply impacted by what happens there.
2. You can support Palestinian rights, oppose Israeli policies/leaders —AND be appalled by Hamas’ massacre of Jews. 3/
The violence is the point.
Anti-LGBTQ policies and rhetoric are intended to dehumanize and normalize bigotry — so that violence against LGBTQ people, those who support them, and other communities becomes more acceptable. It’s why neo-Nazis are recruiting off anti-drag protests.
Anti-LGBT protestors attack Pro-LGBT demonstrators outside of a Glendale, CA schoolboard meeting.
The schoolboard is voting on recognizing June as Pride month.
Things that are antisemitic:
1. Promoting conspiracy theories about Soros funding campus protests.
2. Treating Jews participating in these protests as the “good” Jews — and using their presence to excuse or deny real antisemitism experienced by other (“bad”) Jews on campus.
Reminder: a loophole in NY law could unintentionally insulate someone pardoned by the President from subsequent prosecution for certain state crimes.
For nearly a year,
@NewYorkStateAG
has been pushing Albany to close the loophole. More here:
This is not a protest of Israel. It is a violent, antisemitic attack — targeting Jews for the actions of the Israeli government.
And it is precisely why Jews across the globe are feeling isolated and terrified right now.
Insane footage on Russian social media from Makhachkala in the North Caucasus region, where there have been several anti-Semitic protests this weekend.
A crowd of people, some with Palestinian flags, broke into the airport in search of passengers on a flight from Tel Aviv.
NY Times: White nationalist Richard Spencer, “organization has dissolved, his wife has divorced him, and he is facing trial next month in Charlottesville, Va., over his role in the deadly 2017 neo-Nazi march there, but says he cannot afford a lawyer.”
These comments by neo-Nazi Andrew Anglin are a perfect example of how Trump’s voter fraud disinformation + emboldened white supremacists and other violent extremists are a recipe for disaster this fall.
Elizabeth Warren is good at running for President because she takes nothing for granted and assumes she has to earn every vote.
It’s actually quite astonishing in the modern world to simply watch someone work so hard.
I don’t think most Americans realize how dangerous this moment is. HBCUs terrorized with bomb threats. Swastikas on our train stations and synagogues under attack. All while extremists whittle away at our basic democratic institutions.
I spent tonight with the families of some of the remaining 130+ hostages.
More than anything, they simply want the world to understand that calling for their families’ release does not mean you’re implicitly supporting Israel’s actions. It just means you’re human.

This is Replacement Theory, the white supremacist conspiracy that fueled the Charlottesville, Pittsburgh, Christchurch, Poway, and El Paso attacks. It’s what “Jews will not replace us” means.
Half the House GOP caucus gave this white supremacist a standing ovation today.
In 2018, Rep Greene approvingly shared a white supremacist video claiming that “an unholy alliance of leftists, capitalists and Zionist supremacists has schemed to promote immigration and miscegenation, with the deliberate aim of breeding us out of existence in our own homelands”
We should be very clear: white Christian nationalists like Feucht use Israel to advance their extremist, antisemitic, and bigoted worldview. And it’s deeply dangerous for Jews, Israel’s long-term safety, and anyone who believes in inclusive democracy.
Statement from Acting NY Attorney General Barbara Underwood: “this extraordinarily talented, dedicated, and tireless team of public servants will ensure that our work continues without interruption.”
It feels harder & harder to hold the complexity of this moment. The loudest voices are telling us this is zero-sum. That we can’t mourn both innocent Israelis & Palestinians. That combating both antisemitism AND Islamophobia & anti-Arab hate isn’t possible. Please don’t buy it.
If COVID testing were lower, there would be less cases. And if the people didn’t know what Trump did, he’d be more popular. Same insane authoritarian logic.
