Obviously - best to start with a point of trust. My statement was about a pattern. Unfortunately, many use this phrase as a way to guilt people into commitment, as if saying no would imply a lack of professionalism. Reciprocity (in due time) is a good test of authenticity.
@amodm
Disagree and commit is a transfer of ownership and not shutup and do as I say. When somebody asks somebody to disagree and commit, one is saying i own it and will take the consequences as well.
@pankaj013
While technically true, the defn of consequences can be very subjective, and thus insufficient protection against manipulative uses of this.
@amodm
It’s an obligation to dissent. It works only if the entire team is committed to making it work. Otherwise it becomes toxic. It is orthogonal to strong decision making and accountability structures. If the latter is missing/broken, the former is akin to a shotgun with no safety.
