Humans learn chronologically. So start small. Learn to draw a rock. Just a simple rock on its own. You can do a lot with rocks in a setting. Then try some plants. Mix them with the rocks. Try a tree to give some shade to the rock. Build upon your internal asset library.
Someone DM’d me to drop all my tutorials again so here you are. I’m working on my first video tutorial. Might be a bit because I gotta learn editing hardcore now lol.
Last image was a paint over, I used to run a BG Discord and do paint overs. Too busy now tho w/ work.
Adding stuff like chipped corners and more planes helps a lot.
If you just want graphic read rocks, study people you really nice who you think execute it well! But tbh not much is a cube in natural occuring terra forma. So if you clump up a bunch of cubes it'll read as a rock.
Coloso Animation Class Thread- I'll be going through 6 animation courses on Coloso. Keeping it contained here.
Starting off with :
Animating in Toon Boom Harmony. I've graduated from SBPro thanks to Bloop Animation's UI Course.
Explaining to someone I don't use noise but Copic Marker Textures on soft light, hard light, overlay, and lighten blending modes for a more natural looking texture noise.
Sources for Texture
Since I got asked about this-Update! I'll be making a new version of my tut zine to put on Gumroad with updated info and using it as an opportunity to do vis dev for my 3 projects, Mythic, Shatter and Glass Egg. Not sure how long it'll take me but I'll be actively working on it!
Some more Zelda concept stuff. After my current Action Storyboarding class I want to start working on storyboard to eventually animate. A lot of pre-vis for it lol.
Got Magma Studio Pro to have an open canvas 24/7 to share with my partner to doodle on. I forgot what my stream of consciousness is like. Sometime's it's just p i g.
Bunch of Magma doodles (You guys remember pchat? It’s that essentially) from the previous weekend hanging w/ buds.
Life drawing warm ups, Morrigan studies. Then we were watching Dun Meshi together and one of our buds coaxed us to make Dun Meshi OC’s of ourselves.
2.5 hours because I spent most of my time messing up frame stuff and tumbling around in Harmony making a whole animated multiple scene thing in it for the first time. It's more...like animatic then a animation but I'll get better at this as I go.

Wippu gonna color and learn AE to animate this ala a gatcha character promotion kind of thing and loop it to music. First time learning to do something like this so wish me luck.
Thanks for this wild browser app recc
@JunyIsHere
The ONE undo having a timer is the funniest thing tho. I'll keep using it cause it is kind of fun to be restricted especially for life drawing. Definitely the app to work out your digital line confidence-
Rough animation, wanted to do a complex thing over the abstract shapes. Also practicing animating on 4's, 5's and 6's and longer frame holds.
Also feel free to mute this thread, I use Twitter more like a digital sketchbook/research journal. I'm gonna be posting in this one a lot
Spencer was my first animation teacher and now I’m working professionally in the animation side of production doing Character Layout / FX animation freelance and really loving it. He’s a really solid teacher, he obviously loves this craft and he reignited my love for animating.
Hey y'all! I'll be teaching another workshop this year! This time I'll be demoing how I construct and animate FX. If you missed my last one, you won't want to miss this one.
Also, I'll show you how I drew the Castlevania opening.
August 3rd at 10am PST!
I’ll be painting color on this 05/17 2PM EST/ 11 AM PST Friday on Twitch. I wanna do this as a loop animation and Twitch stream the process on Fridays!
I’ll put the vid recordings up on YouTube after.
Plus some master studies, most of the time if you see me doing these I’m trying to figure out something at work but I’m not doing it fast enough imo for myself, so I do auxiliary studies so then I can figure it out and I’m not sweating a deadline. Ppl seem to like them tho.
Also brushes:
I use this A LOT. It has the brushes I used for sand/reflections.
Custom Sets:
If these don’t download right I’ll fix the post later when I can get to my laptop.
Last note: I’m a character designer that learned bgs because I was bored with my work. I didn’t start off admiring a building like I do now.
Challenge yourself but reasonably. If you take on too much it gets stressful. One foot in a comfort zone, another foot in a new skill.
Then start figuring out how to place them around. If music is the arrangement of time then art is the arrangement of space.
Make some huge! Medium! Small! Contrast is everything that makes things interesting. Rocks are rather simple geometry shapes but you can push them a lot.
