My post on functional slowness and tremor (parkinsonism). A fascinating if uncommon condition @jonstoneneuro @AlanCarson15 @Tim_R_Nicholson @kailashbhatia @AlbertoEspay

@ajlees @jonstoneneuro @AlanCarson15 @Tim_R_Nicholson @kailashbhatia @AlbertoEspay In FND clinic we have started to see PD being missed, not just as prodrome. Mostly in young; either because variation in tremor with co-activation/mirror movements is deemed FND distractible or because of perceived acute onset 1/2

@CoeberghJan @jonstoneneuro @AlanCarson15 @Tim_R_Nicholson @kailashbhatia @AlbertoEspay This is why a balanced view is needed as well as expertise in data gathering. I saw a case of functional parkinsonism diagnosed as PD because of incorrectly reported DAT scan. The other catch is psychomotor retardation in severe depression

@ajlees @jonstoneneuro @AlanCarson15 @Tim_R_Nicholson @kailashbhatia @AlbertoEspay Some people with neurodegenerative conditions give an acute history; which I have seen in MND/CBS and twice in PD; one day a threshold of perception is reached so open mind at all times is needed
