You are exactly right - just spoke with the farmer - he was desperate to save his trees - his actions also helped prevent a local community from the floodwaters. Easy to criticize from afar.

@Jeff_Aiello @agleader I think folks who don’t farm don’t have the grasp of the the urgency of the flooding (from reading the comments on the original post). Crops are insured not the orchard itself. How dire the situation must be down there to have to resort to doing that.

@agleader @jn_moore Cal Fish and Wildlife may go after Mr. Farmer. Looks like he violated a number of hazardous waste laws and regulations.

@agleader Agreed that folks from afar do not grasp the farmer dilemma. This is the new normal - floods/droughts. Insurance is not the answer, but saving the land from both. #jaltara can likely help - hoping to try it out in California @kamboparai
