Really poignant moment as 'Nothing Compares 2 U' is played at Croke Park before the All-Ireland football final. Followed by a warm ovation for the late Sinéad O'Connor

A first look at the Kerry ladies' new black shorts... Kerry are the latest women's sports team to ditch white shorts in favour of a darker colour.
Players say they are more comfortable wearing dark shorts while on their periods

Some sad news. The death has occurred of Ellen Clifford, mother of Kerry footballers David and Paudie.
I'm sure the thoughts of all GAA supporters are with David, Paudie, their sister Shelly and their father Dermot at this difficult time.
Can't believe people are worried about Evan Ferguson joining England. He's an 18-year-old born and raised in Meath. If he wasn't busy banging in a hat-trick for Brighton he would have been at that Wolfe Tones gig belting out A Nation Once Again.
This will bring a smile to your face. All-Ireland Intermediate champions Rathmore get pelted with snowballs by their clubmates upon returning to Kerry.
With friends like these...

Funny exchange on the Luas there. Some young fella and his pals were trying to take the piss out of a random guy who for some reason was wearing wellingtons.
Young fella: Do you suck cows' balls?
Guy in wellies: Cows don't have balls.
It's costing Kerry captain Anna Galvin €1,792 a month to play for her county. Galvin lives in Dublin and commutes for training. (Unlike her male counterparts, she is not reimbursed for her travel expenses.) That is incredible commitment.

With Drake's logo appearing on Barcelona's shirt, here's what some GAA jerseys would like like if they were sponsored by local musicians.
1. Dublin 🤝 Thin Lizzy
Just heard a great one. Two lads from Firies chatting about the Kerry ladies' win. One fella goes, "Jeez they were very good but there's no sign of Emma Sherwood, whatever happened to her."
Emma got married and took her husband's name (Costello). She was playing centre back!
The replies to my tweet about that English lad are a howl. The highlight has to be someone referring to me as "the mainstream media". My friend, I write articles about David Clifford in the Killarney Advertiser.
When the sin bin rule was brought in, how did the GAA not foresee acts of blatant time wasting like this? It was bound to happen.
(This is particularly poor by Comerford/Dublin all the same.)
BC (Before Clifford): The Sem hadn't won a Hogan Cup in 24 years. No minor team had ever won four in a row. East Kerry hadn't won a County Championship in 20 years. UL hadn't reached a Sigerson final in 25 years. And Fossa were a junior club.
I'm genuinely saddened by that Páirc Uí Chaoimh/SuperValu Park news. Some things should remain sacred and the names of our most important stadiums is one of them.
Seán O'Leary is back in action. The former Kerry panellist broke both his legs in a serious car accident in July 2021. This week he lined out for UL. Fantastic to see

Unbelievable. Fossa are through to the final of the Kerry Intermediate Championship. Hard to explain to an outsider how crazy it is for Fossa to beat 13-time senior champs Austin Stacks. Unthinkable

1. Cork having a go at Munster GAA for switching the game for commercial reasons is a howl. The only reason they're in this mess is because their own county board are prioritising a pop concert over their county teams *for commercial reasons*.
Congratulations to legendary Kerry player and manager Mick O'Dwyer who has married his partner Geraldine.
O'Dwyer (86) and the Tyrone native tied the knot in Killarney on Friday

I knew I saw this goal before. Colm Cooper against Dublin in 2009 v Ciara Murphy (Colm's niece) against Dublin in 2023

Analysing the major incidents including all six red cards in the Fossa v Stewartstown game (plus a big one many may have missed)...
37 mins: Strike to the face. Red card. O'Shea goes down easily but why should he stay on his feet and do the player who punched him a favour?

BREAKING: David Moran has announced his retirement from intercounty football. The Rahillys man bows out after a 15-year career which included three All-Ireland titles

When he turned 24, he still hadn't made his senior debut.
Now, at 27, he's an All-Ireland winner, a three-time All-Star, and (as of last night) Kerry's captain.
A piece on Paudie Clifford's remarkable journey to the top

Bigger kids who develop earlier dominate underage sport. Smaller kids are often overlooked.
Fascinating research by
@fionnfitzgerald
is helping GAA coaches to identify early/late maturing players. The new info could have a radical effect...
60+5: TG4 highlighted this after the intermediate game.
"This doesn't look good in any way."
"That's very dangerous... Certainly when you think of the damage that can do to David Clifford..."
(Clifford appears to say "...my f***ing balls" to the ref)
If I was in charge of the Kerry GAA Twitter I would @ Tyrone GAA and say "are ye sure now ye want to play today or does next week suit ye better". Guaranteed numbers.
Congratulations to David Clifford. Four-time All-Star, All-Ireland champion, Footballer of the Year. And he's still just 23 years of age. The best I've seen anyway, I don't know about the rest of ye

This young fella travelled all the way from his home in County Meath to Killarney to watch his favourite player Seánie O'Shea line out for Kenmare

Paudie Clifford has made a right fool out of anyone who thought he wouldn't make it for Kerry (and many did). Three All-Stars in his first three years as a starter. Phenomenal achievement.
A major story that has perhaps been lost in all the noise: the Kerry ladies have an All-Ireland semi-final on Saturday. Kerry haven't reached a final since 2012 and they haven't won it since 1993. With Dublin and Cork out, this is a massive opportunity for them

Seán O'Shea is the GAA's new Ambasadóir Gaeilge for 2024.
The Kerry footballer, who is a teacher in Pobalscoil Inbhear Scéine, will be helping to promote the Irish language via schemes and initiatives throughout the year.
Maith an fear, a Sheáin 🇮🇪
Interesting to note that new Kerry captain Paudie Clifford will wear number 10 on his first start of the season.
He wore 13 in 2023 but there is a piseog around the fact that no player wearing 13 has captained Kerry to an All-Ireland.
We'll be hearing a lot about the "tight" Páirc Uí Rinn pitch in the coming weeks so just a reminder that according to
@GAALeagueTables
, it's the same size as the pitch at Páirc Uí Chaoimh, and bigger than the Fitzgerald Stadium

Sad to see Brolly having a needless dig at Éamonn Fitzmaurice. The level of insight Fitzmaurice offers is miles ahead of what RTÉ offered up in the past.
RTÉ and the GAA have been profiting off GAAGO, putting our national games behind a paywall.
Meanwhile, RTÉ are spending €138k on rugby tickets. That would pay for 11,500 Kerry and Tyrone supporters to stream this weekend's All-Ireland quarter-final.
