halloween-inspired tune i wrote back in 2014 as a lsdj test (i think it was called "skeleton dance"). i managed to recover the original gb file from my old pc so here's a video of it!
i never really used electric guitar in my music, but listening to the origami king's soundtrack made me crave those power chords. so i got an interface and a cable and now i can record guitar...!
i've always tried to customize SMW samples but i actually love some of the vanilla ADSR instruments! i feel 0 and 13 work very well with slow, mysterious tunes... there are a lot of older ports with a really cool atmosphere
such beautiful dynamics in this tune... the soft delayed tremolo in the longer notes really stands out when isolated (0:36, 0:49)
(track: the arena from kirby super star)
here's a little tribute to Il Maniero Spettrale, a Halloween-themed Super Mario World hack I worked on with two friends a few years ago. I did some improvisation and then added more stuff manually.
there's a special atmosphere when you reach the final world in a mario game and the ground levels start having underground music (e.g. smb3 8-1, yi 6-1)
here's the track I made for Super Slime Arena! It plays in an underwater stage filled with giant creatures and sunken ships. I had a lot of fun making it, and I'm glad I could be a part of this project!
here's a collection of five new short tunes! these were originally piano/guitar sketches... I went and finished writing all of them around last April. hope you enjoy it!
here's an arrangement I did of the capital theme from SimCity's unreleased NES version. it's such a lovely tune and I hope we'll be able to hear the full original version someday! originally composed by Soyo Oka.
one thing i love about the sm64 blindfolded speedrun is how the music/beat plays a big part in coordinating one's movements inside a level. the lethal lava land tune seems to be particularly hard to use as a reference because of its freeform rhythm!
i've always loved the camera work in n64 games such as mario and zelda. like when the credits roll up and they start going through all the areas, there are some really cool drone-like shots in there
KK's songs have some of the best "midi guitar" imo ~ I love the attention to dynamics & how you can hear all the little slides and ghost notes. it sounds like he's playing a real instrument, in spite of its very short samples

saw the tweet and thought i would jump in - so, i think the bass and the chords are what really give it away that it's an ando tune... (cont)
especially when i was younger, i'd try to imitate the style of my favourite composers in a very direct way. of course, i had a sakuraba phase too... i learned so many interesting techniques through his music
