if you have branding, merch design or illustration work you need done without blowing your budget, hit me up and let’s talk.
i make cool shit, work sliding scale for low income projects, and am an all around rull cool dude 👍.
there is a woman crying in this coffee shop talking to her friend about “…and like i know colonialism or whatever but there’s no nuance and it’s just horrible.” and i am STARING at her.
you know i love kate winslet and i’m gonna support these orgasms you all seem to be having but i am so tired of lesbian period pieces. so tired of the white men who write & direct them. so tired of cishet women starring in them.

a thing about horror as a genre is that it is very very very ableist and also beloved by many disabled people, myself included, for the ability to depict and often speak to a LOT of that ableism.
never will get over the fact that my partner of nearly four years with whom i share a home (and various hoodies), own a car, and raise two dog children, still has me in their phone as “angus from a-camp.”
queers love to get real mad when ppl are like “oh you’re gay my cousin has a friend that’s gay, do you know them?” but WE FUCKIN’ DO KNOW THEM! WE KNOW EVERYONE!
he literally told us all to inject bleach into our veins, and then turned around and had doctor's give him advanced drugs that almost no one can access when he was supposedly barely symptomatic. this isn't the timeline of covid. this isn't the treatment track for covid.
i just pulled a piece from the NYTimes on disability and future planning due to the Times’ response to GLAAD and trans writers and supporters. if anyone has any thoughts on a home for it hit me up. ✌️
what was the weirdest thing you were obsessed with as a kid?
mine was aerosmith videos featuring alicia silverstone. i once got in trouble for recording “cryin’” over a family video.
i regret nothing. still slaps.
the best part of
@JanelleMonae
's coming out, was the inclusion of the very real fact that our sexualities and identities can change as much as we do (if we want). that our language can evolve in whatever ways we need it to. i needed that representation and lots of others do too.
pouring one out for the images that didn't make the cut: the ones of nyc's special ordered mobile morgues overfilled w body bags, or any of the ones of people dying alone in hallways of hospitals w no vacancy, or! or! the zoom wakes for the loved ones we couldn't bury.
"One of the most disturbing images of the Covid-19 pandemic was when a teacher .. forced a mask on a crying toddler ..
In some ways, the U.S. government .. treated all of us like toddlers, compelling us to endure draconian Covid measures" -
@HRaleighspeaks
i hate when folks complain about ~slow walkers~
you know what’s more annoying than slowing down? spending every minute of your life moving at your body’s equivalent of a sprint several feet behind your pals, because no one’s considerate enough to do it for you.
fun fact about john oliver: i used to put my name in the fishbowl for tickets to his show. the week i finally scored, i’d had a medical emergency/was in the hospital and had to turn them down. his team gave me a line to call when i was able, reserving me tix for a later show. 1/2
i got the first glimpse of my book in the mail yesterday! and i feel emotional?! 🥰🥰🥰 OUT FOR PREORDER NOW! link in bio! edited by

every time a roommate, partner, or friend comes with me, a 31 year old grown ass adult, to a doctor’s appointment and the doctor enters the room looks directly past me and asks “how is she feeling?”

idk what to say about autostraddle other than it’s disappointing that you can be so loyal to a platform & team and there seems to be v little in return. it doesn’t make sense to me that staff are casually dropped after multiple successful fundraisers & so much community support.
percentage of doctors who’ve denied me medication for pain management for a pretty wicked disease bc “it could potentially become addictive, since my condition will not improve” = 100%
THAT A MOVIE LIKE ‘OPPENHEIMER’ ABOUT THE TERRIBLE THINGS WEVE DONE AND HOW WE SHOULD SHOULD NEVER DO THOSE THINGS EVER AGAIN CAN JUST BE SWEEPING THROUGH AN AWARD SHOW WHERE EVEN THE IRISHMAN WONT SAY PALESTINE OUT LOUD ONE SINGLE TIME
not only did they live up to that promise literal months later, but they made it accessible-helping us get in ahead of the crowd and assisting w seating. they even helped us exit safely. idk if this was john himself, or just a rad overall team. but i suspect both. and i stan. 2/2
know that if you rock a diaper/pad/catheter/stoma/anything ever and we vibe, i’d still 10/10 hit it/hang out/party/love you/hold you on the pedestal you belong on. the world is trash, you are not.
i hate this website.
i don’t want to imply that disabled ppl exist to validate or serve as perspective for the experiences of others, but i genuinely think acquired disability would be infinitely easier to cope with/navigate if able bodied people valued having connections with disabled people.
congrats on being vaccinated! i am also vaccinated! i feel v lucky that i can live a bit lighter in terms of my own risk rn. but continuing to wear masks//be responsible about our choices re: being in public is not about us. it’s about ppl who remain at risk, you fucking ghouls.
i know it’s just a saying or whatever but i’d love it if we could stop saying things about “beating” disease, or “losing a fight” to an illness or whatever.
my body is just gonna do as it damn well pleases. there is no reason and i am not a fucking boxer, i’m just vibing.
hi. you can be a marginalized person and have bad fucking takes about said marginalization that promote harm to your community and should therefore be called out. your platform isn’t immune to criticism or accountability based on how you identify.
if you’re interested in a
#disability
inclusive sex ed book that has “ruined comics forever” and has incels on twitter calling for spree killers, you can purchase it at your local comic shop, target, amazon, wherever! don’t forget to leave a review!

If u see me retweeting a bunch of stuff about A Quick & Easy Guide To Sex & Disability today it’s Bc this fucker & a bunch bigoted of MAGAbros have decided to talk shit
i often think about how frida kahlo was queer and disabled and it annoys me a lot that though media uses her image constantly, it doesn’t ever represent her this way.
me: every single comic panel in this whole entire book has to be unique to every other and exist as its own interesting piece of art if i ever want to be successful.
allison bechdel:
rbg was an incredible woman before anything else. but honestly fuck all of us for putting all of our hope and all of OUR collective responsibility for ending all of this in the hands of a dying woman who had already worked harder than any of us for more than a lifetime.
i just think the true silencing in publishing is the silencing of BIPOC, trans, disabled, and otherwise marginalized or multiply marginalized creators that don’t have the opportunity to have public meltdowns about things we find unjust and still have access to careers. 🤷
friendly reminder that jeff bezos could give every single person in the US a million dollars and still have approximately 11,167,000,000 dollars left over for himself.
admittedly it is the hardest reality for me to grasp (in an authentic way, at least) that being good to people does not mean they are or will be good to you.
you ever have a day where you think about the queer movies/tv that you’re into and how they’re not actually good, you’re just horny for any and all queer content?
tired: discoursing nonstop about the abusive behaviors of a celebrity you’ve heard of but never interacted with or otherwise cared about at all.
wired: actually holding your fuckin’ friends/faves accountable when you are fully aware they’re abusive as shit.
feels worth saying for the 500 millionth time: gender neutral clothing is literally anything you feel like wearing, not tiny button ups for tiny afab masc folks that cost 90 dollars.
the problem with this in my opinion is only really in shitty use of horror and wasted opportunities for depth in both its characters and narratives using disability and egregious forms of ableism without any clear purpose offering absolutely nothing of value in return.
kim k tweeting about passing the bar “w no help” while receiving private tutoring from some of the world’s best lawyers instead of attending school, having zero debt related expenses in doing so, and having an infinite amount of time and accommodation to do so is… something.
i know we are all dealing with our depression in different ways but if my partner doesn’t stop blasting fast car in this house then i’m gonna need to leave tonight or live and die this way.
i don’t know if anything matters as much as the men, women, and children being kidnapped and detained in literal prison encampments. they are dying there. our leaders are orchestrating it, witnessing it, and performing anger while ultimately remaining complacent.
a thing that really annoys me (that no one cares about) is when singers aggressively heterosexualize a song they are covering. you don’t have to specify that you are singing to a member of the opposite sex just sing the words? why are you like this?
anyway, ty for your time.
hey hi, the reality of working for
@autostraddle
is that we all are working together bc we love our community. while we deserve to be paid for our work, sometimes money isn’t there and we decide for ourselves that it isn’t the goal. capitalism is bullshit but community is not.
i read that rewatching movies and tv shows you’ve seen before is a thing that people with severe anxiety tend to do. can anxious pals plz weigh in? do you do this?
just did a talk about access and comics, and during q&a a 9 year old girl hopped on to tell me about her idea for a science comic about the periodic table. when the mod asked what her question was she said “…my question is what do you think about my comic?”
kids rule. forreal.
bro the fact that netflix invited this person’s literally abusive ex to come on this reunion show and talk their shit in person is reason

to never support netflix anything.
hi babes! a quick + friendly reminder that
@autostraddle
is working harder than ever to put together the 🔥🔥🔥 queer content that you need//love. consider joining A+ today to support a hard working bunch of queers in better supporting you!
gr8 talk! your hair looks great today.
hi. if a person wants* to disclose their disability to you for their own comfort or accommodation, that is absolutely their right but it isn’t fucking “deception” to not tell a stranger you’re meeting from a dating app for the first time about your medical history / body.
i personally don’t believe, and will never believe, that a person needs to be innocent for it to be wrong to execute them. and i find all the focus on innocence versus guilt on specific cases counter to that very important point.
a weird thing about growing up in a family that keeps lots of secrets is that you will spend your whole life having to remind yourself constantly that the interactions and things that go on in your general life are not fucking secrets and it’s fine to talk about them.
can’t stop thinking about how there is a trauma therapist IN MY CITY living with the (mostly) SAME RARE ASS DISEASE as me who can not accept my insurance. but i “can go see THEIR suggested provider: TODD if [i] want.”
folks lemme tell you, i do not want.
Autostraddle is ready to stop just surviving; we’re ready to start thriving! Today we’re kicking off a fundraiser to do just that! You can donate now, snag some amazing perks, and help us continue to build our community and challenge the culture!
last night in a cozy theater in minneapolis,
@JanelleMonae
shouted out disabled folks and it was honestly the first time i’ve ever felt so seen and considered by an able-bodied person with that kind of platform. i am deeply grateful for her existence. thank you 🙏🌈🙏
