The A-Series is something that we like to use pre-practice to help prep the athletes to run.
Progress these drills slow to fast, eventually ending with a get off or build up. Walk, Skip, Run.

With our younger athletes we find time to ensure we still train speed in season.
Within these speed school sessions we incorporate some form of drilling, plyometrics, resisted running, and free runs.
I’m honored to be selected by the
@RamsNFL
for the Strength and Conditioning Bill Walsh Diversity Fellowship position. Thankful that
@tcufootball
has allowed me to pursue this opportunity. Excited to be able to learn and grow as a professional in this field from this experience.
As you program and train, having an understanding of how each exercise places demands and stress on the body is crucial.
Not all exercises are created equal 📊
This graph from Charlie Francis and
@DerekMHansen
is a great visual.
Some my fav speed demos in the
@Fiesta_Bowl
from
@TCUFootball
First two aren’t even scoring plays
One is a chase down that prevents a TD. The other is closing speed on a 4th down stop
Split hairs however you want, but this team is built AND trained to be fast
Sprinting KPIs:
Neutral Pelvis
Positive Shin Angle
Stiff Ankles
Split Thighs
Using
@StuartMcMillan1
’s graphic and overlaying it with our athletes has helped our staff and athletes better visualize what we are looking for.

Curved Sprinting
Adding curves to your sprint training will help ensure that your athletes can turn the corner and continue to accelerate or maintain their velocity.
⚠️ Posture, rhythm, strides, and power requirements are different than typical linear sprints.
Banded A-Runs are a decent alternative when you can’t open up and sprint.
As you feel more comfortable you can begin to increase band tension and intensity with the runs.
The Importance of Dorsiflexion
🥊 Think about the foot as you would your hand if you are punching someone.
🙅 You wouldn’t punch with an open fist; rather you squeeze tightly, and punch through
🥊 It is the same with the foot - “squeeze and punch” 🥊
Proud of this young group, growing and maturing together to become better players and better men. Love how they always saw a challenge and never shied away from it. Ready to hit the offseason running.

Keep going. Tough situations build the strongest of people. In this time of adversity we will continue to stay positive and build together! Love this team and our leader! Go Bears 🐻!

Also w/ no pad on the ankles. Getting that body tempering on the Achilles in at the same time😂😭

Being able to connect and learn from some of the best in the field, each with similar but different views and philosophies is key to growth.
FINAL, No. 9 Baker defeats (RV) William Penn, 30-7 in the season opener! With today's victory, BU records its 600th win in the history of the program! Only one of two schools in NAIA history! Congratulations Wildcats!

For the past few weeks I’ve been working on staying more relaxed when I’m in my upright position.
Putting it in my head that I need to be at 90-95% rather than an all out 100% has helped with this process.
Can’t be tense and run fast.
Took the

out for a spin today.
This machine is more than just a great tool for velocity/load profiling. But, it is smooth and seamless way to asses and train COD and decelerations with load!
