I’m so old I remember when they replaced the actual shitty bricks in the 70’s with crappy cement, then reintroduced whatever that is supposed to be in the late 90’s. Weird

While the patching is awful, if done right, the colored and stamped concrete make sense. It should be more durable and lower maintenance than brick while still providing important things like visual and tactile cues for both drivers and pedestrians.

And yes, the patching sucks, but sometimes needed as a temp measure to keep the area safe for peds and keeping the rest of it from further degrading until repairs can be done in warmer weather when freeze/thaw is over and snow plows are done damaging it more.

Every time they go to replace asphalt in

and expose the real brick streets, I’m like, “Hey, leave it that way!” It looks better and would slow traffic.
