Golfers I least enjoy playing with:
1. The Drunk
2. Rage Monsters
3. The golfer who never says good shot, but is quick to point out when you land in a bad spot or make a bad swing
4. The 5 hour round grinder
I REPEAT
Brooks Koepka won the PGA.
LIV did not win the PGA.
Brooks Koepka, the individual, won the PGA. LIV had less than nothing to do with it. Do not let them make you think otherwise. This is an individual achievement by a very talented player.
I’m done playing golf with people who are obsessed with pace of play. Yes, I want to play in as close to 4 hours as possible. I’m a dad.
BUT these dudes - and it’s always dudes - that are sprinting off the green before you’ve even struck a putt or won’t help you find a ball and
Golf in expensive golf pants is cool.
Golf in sweatpants is cool.
Golf at a Top 100 is cool.
Golf at a $9 muni is cool.
Golf with old people is cool.
Golf with kids is cool.
Golf with men is cool.
Golf with women is cool.
Golf is cool.
If we play golf together and you want to fluff your lies, go for it. If you need a breakfast ball or two, go for it. I want you to play golf the way you get the most enjoyment out of it. Let’s just have some fun. Play your game.
The same guys that tell you they play 18 in an hour are the ones that will tell us not to worry about how long pros take to hit the ball.
This is torture.
I’ve seen four different golf companies’ Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals priced 20-40% off. I’m an avid price watcher. These 20-40% off prices are higher than their full prices were a week ago. Tempted to call them out because even tho this is common, it still pisses me off.
People are mad that Scottie Scheffler is running away with this thing, but we should probably be focusing on how absolutely bonkers and incredible this run he’s on is.
We asked for a superstar. We have one.
How in the world does Scottie not get one of the bigger chunks? He’s almost done more in the last three years than Spieth and JT have done in their careers. Pays to be in the boys club once again. The Tour is so lost.
As part of its recent $3 billion fundraising round, the PGA Tour will start issuing equity payouts to its top players today, according to
@jcorrigangolf
.
Top Projected Payouts
• Tiger Woods: $100 million
• Rory McIlroy: $50 million
• Jordan Spieth: $30 million
• Justin
Some news.
Average Dad Golf is dead. This isn’t a rebrand. I’m not a brand. I’m not a creator. I’m not an influencer. I’m Zack and I like golf.
A lot of people lately have been telling me who I am and I’m tired of it, so here’s who I am.
I’m Zack. I live in Nebraska. I don’t
I’m into this tournament because the leaderboard is stacked and I’d love to see Rickie close it out - but I am not into this golf course. Outside day 1, the USGA has done a good job setting it up, but the US Open played at a club no one can even step foot on - where the members
Rickie Fowler is playing one of those rounds that results in sitting in a chair outside the clubhouse staring into the abyss with every button on your shirt unbuttoned, hat barely resting on the top of your head, and an unopened beer just kind of resting in your limp hand.
It’s sad to me that there are folks who have been golf fans for 40, 50 plus years who have never had the chance to go to The Masters simply because tickets aren’t available. I don’t have a solution, but, to me, that’s a problem. Especially when some go every year.
The secondary
Net golf is fine for league purposes, tho shooting 32 and losing to a 9 that shot 40 isn’t all that fun.
But net golf has no place in tournament play. Net golf punishes skilled players. It’s not leveling the playing field. It’s diminishing the work they put in to get good.
I constantly have dreams where I’m playing golf and I’m on a tee box but there either isn’t enough room to make a swing or I can’t get the ball teed up because of a weird surface.
Golf Twitter, what does it mean?
Player hits just ok shot.
Zinger: Oh, he’s screwed now. His family will probably stop loving him. Think I just saw his wife leave with another man.
Player: Makes par.
I am still in love with the major championships in golf, especially
@TheMasters
but I am just so disinterested in the rest. The world’s best player league hopping has me with barely a toe left in the give a fk door about professional golf. This isn’t an anti-LIV feeling. It’s an
My dad went in for a fitting today. He’s 75. Has two new hips. Only swinging 70mph. Has a lot of trouble getting the ball airborn.
He hit everything.
Was fit into all new Ai Smoke Max irons, Ai Smoke Max Driver, Ai Smoke HL 3 wood, and Ai Smoke 4H. All super light Tensei 40g
For my 50th birthday, I want to take my boys, who will be 15 and 11 at the time, on a nationwide golf tour. Hit as many states as possible in 60 days over summer. Play Top 100s, unheralded munis, par 3s, short courses. See and play it all.
Planning starts now.
Empathizing with Brooks wasn’t something I expected in Full Swing, but here I am. It’s clear his head wasn’t in a good place, confidence is shot, and fear of not getting back to the top crept in. I get that.
I think he made a fear based decision to go to LIV and he regrets it.
If we play golf together I want you to play well. In fact, I want you to play the round of your life. I love seeing people succeed. It doesn’t make me feel any less about myself. We can both have good days and be happy for each other. We need to normalize being each other’s fans.
This will be the only Charlie Woods comment I make, but aside from having a beautiful golf swing, he seems to have zero “I’m Tiger Woods’ son” in him. Instead he has a healthy respect for his dad and what he’s achieved.
I could be totally wrong, but it sure looks that way.
Bryson hits ball in water.
All of golf Twitter: Haha what a loser. So glad he’s losing. He’s mentally weak. Douchambeau!!!
Nobody: Wow, Cantlay played great.
Here’s a tip. If you’re rooting for people to fail, you’re a loser.
Chasing this guy.
On my 30th birthday I weighed 325 lbs. I had a fun night with my friends, then woke up the next day and told myself I couldn’t live the way I have been - literally.
I decided to do something about it. Over the next 9 months I’d go on to lose 130 lbs, start
Being new at a club has me making solo tee times w/ppl adding themselves to my group. In the past I would’ve hated that, but I’m really looking forward to playing with a lot of different people. Golf is such a source of joy for me and I want to cast a wide net of that joy.
Just FYI.
Your club is not “mid”
Where you golf is where you golf. Find your people and enjoy where you play wherever it is.
No one should care what your bag looks like. If it’s old and tattered. If every inch is covered by logos of every course you’ve ever played. Iron
Today I played with a later in life adopter of the game who’s only been playing a year.
Couple holes in he says, “I’m sorry if this isn’t OK, but I can tell you know what you’re doing. Would it be OK if I ask you stuff while we play?”
1. I love that he asked.
2. Hell yes, my man
Last thing I’m going to say regarding anything to do with LIV because while it’s fun to spend a day dunking on people whose only way of communicating is name-calling and clown emojis, it’s exhausting.
I think it’s ok for LIV to exist. I wish it was used as a way to propel guys’
I enjoy playing them, but 4 person scrambles should be illegal. Go 3 person and put two groups on each hole. Exchange scorecards.
You put 4 people teams, one per hole, and you’re always going to get at least one group that does this - tho not usually this egregiously.
I love golf Twitter because, for the most part, the people here all want to see golfers get better. Once in a while a bad egg slips through, but so many are giving out free advice, encouragement, and resources here. It’s just the best.
A lot of “the field sucks” comments this week, but, umm that was a ton of fun. Yes, we want to see the “superstars” play, but the Tour is full of guys with a ton of game and great stories. The level of golf this week was not lesser. The drama was not lesser. It was awesome.
Today I’m testing my company’s flexible work schedule push from over the last 12 months by asking my boss if I can do 6-2:30 for the Spring and Summer (golf season) so I have time to play or practice every day before picking Legendary Son up from school.
Wish me luck.
Take pride in what you do on the golf course.
Are you off? Fine. Fix your ball marks. Be a good playing partner.
Are you on? Great. Be humble. Be a good playing partner.
Alone with my thoughts tweet 1:
Golf Twitter is incredible. I’m an idiot hacker from Nebraska and I’ve made a ton of friends here. I’ve traveled places to meet people I never would’ve known existed and done awesome things just because of this place. I’m going to the friggin
There’s too much money at the highest levels of professional sports.
In the last two days a guy got $600mm just to go play golf somewhere else and a baseball player got $700mm.
Obscene. Stupid.
Dozen balls in 2026 going to be $70 for we mortals if manufacturers have to develop a separate ball they’re basically only going to give away to pros.
But, you know, “protecting the future of the game” for the 99% of players who will never hit a tee shot over 250 yards.
Legendary Son spent the last year at home after getting really sick, battling back to back to back viruses, losing 25% of his body weight, ER visits, specialty clinics, and a procedure under general anesthesia.
Today, he went back to school.
Dad is thrilled, but also not OK.
@Top100Rick
Nope. Ruins a golf course. Ruins all of golf for everyone. Absolutely destroys the history of the game. Golf will never recover. This is the end.
I’m glad people find it fun. Nothing against anyone who likes it, but I hate the WM so much. Not a single thing interests me about adults stumbling around, puking, and jumping in bunkers.
Yes I’m boring. You’re not going to tell me anything I don’t already know.
Spectacular Son is here!
A little Nantz
@TheMasters
love here for his first outfit.
My guy and Very Elite Mom are doing great. We are beyond blessed and grateful for the care we’re receiving and for a happy, healthy boy.
Is 39 (on Friday) too late in life to completely shift gears and start a second career in golf course design essentially starting from zero knowledge? Asking for me.
The reason guys have a problem with
@AlanShipnuck
is because he’s doing what journalists are SUPPOSED to do. Haven’t we all been clamoring for truth from journos for the last 8 years? So why are we mad when one actually gives it to us?
Is it because golfers, forever, have been
Not at all surprised to see
@McIlroyRory
speaking clearly, confidently, and intelligently on this Saudi league nonsense. He is truly the best voice golf has.
I have a confession. I don’t play golf for betting purposes. Never have.
So if we play together and you name a game and say press and Nassau, etc., just know that after I agree I am 1000% Googling what I just agreed to.
A while ago I wrote about depression, anxiety, and how my weight has been a battle for the last couple years. So many of you were really great in response. I’m happy to say at exactly 30 days into my lifestyle change, I’m down 30 lbs and I feel great. Mood, body, everything.
Something I would never do as a + hdcp (or any level) is tell another golfer they’re bad at golf. I see it happen all the time on Twitter and it’s gross. Golf is hard and people are at different stages of learning and ability. We need to build them up. Not tear them down.
I don’t care what happens over the last couple holes - tho I hope she makes the cut - but we all owe
@Lexi
a massive debt of gratitude for absolutely burying the 3 handicaps that think they could play on the
@LPGA
Golf is not a cure for depression, but boy does it help.
What a beautiful January day for a little 18 hole stroll. 6 birdies, two bogeys, and one big smile to get the year off to a hot start.
Why is it all “AK shoots 76 and is DFL” from everybody instead of “AK, who last played a golf tournament before Nick Jonas took off his purity ring, shoots respectable 76.”
7 years ago I weighed 325 pounds. I could hardly move, breathe, or get through 9 holes of golf. On my 30th birthday I made a change. I lost 130 lbs in less than a year. I got in great shape thru CrossFit and the paleo diet. Physically I felt incredible, but the
We’ve reached the part of winter in Nebraska where I start to feel not awesome. Happens every year. For so many of us, golf is our escape, our happy place, and a huge part of what makes us whole. In the northern states we lose it for 3-4 months a year and it gets hard. I’m there.
Here’s the truth of the rollback situation. It is 1000% to protect golf courses that are being torched and left in the dust by modern professionals. It isn’t to protect houses. It isn’t to protect players on opposite holes. It’s to protect elite golf courses who cherish their
Very Elite Mom, who has played exactly zero holes of golf since I met her 7 years ago, just asked if she should get fit for clubs.
Obviously, I said yes.
Golf needs a reality check.
Greed has taken over the professional game. It’s created a split in tours. It’s created less-interested fans. It’s created nausea-inducing in-fighting by already millionaires hate they don’t have more millions. It sucks. Fewer and fewer people are
A year ago I had 3 followers (bots). I spent most of my time on Twitter getting mad about politics.
I decided I wanted to make this a golf space. A happy place.
Somehow 3000 of you weirdos have tagged along. I appreciate you all.
Even the ones with which I disagree often.
I overheard a group of three junior golfers on the practice green yesterday making fun of another kid’s ability on the course. It really bummed me out and it’s probably not my place, but I feel like I should have said something.
I will play golf with almost anyone.
But, if you're even remotely close to looking for this kind of confrontation on a golf course, I'll pass and wish you best of luck in life.
