With deep sadness, we announce the passing of K9 Ace. Ace was a partner to Sgt Joe Francese since 2018. He was certified in patrol & narcotics detection. Ace retired this yr after being diagnosed with kidney disease.

One year ago today Officer Manny Familia drowned in the pond at Green Hill Park while attempting to rescue a teenager.

Numerous police officers along with the help of Mass State Police and MSP Air Wing spent last 3+ hours looking for 71 yr old male with dementia that wondered away from a Frank St. apt. The male was found safe at Kelley Square in good condition.

Earlier today, Massachusetts State Police K-9 Frankie was shot in the line of duty during a mission with the STOP Team in Fitchburg. He was rushed to Wachusett Animal Hospital where he tragically died as a result of his injuries.

The Worcester Police Department is searching for twenty-seven-year-old Dejan Belnavis. He is wanted for charges connected to the murder of Chasity Nunez and eleven-year-old Zella Nunez. He should be considered armed and dangerous.
Today during a private ceremony, a memorial bench dedicated to Officer Enmanuel Familia was unveiled in Green Hill Park. Two trees were also planted by the water’s edge. One stands in memory of Officer Familia; the other in memory of Troy Love.
Local artist Ferdinand Nazario painted a mural in 2021 paying tribute to fallen Worcester Police officer Manny Familia. Last week, the mural was vandalized. Mr. Nazario fixed it today. Mr. Nazario, please know how much we appreciate your talent and kindness! Thank you!
This morning, there was an active shooter incident in the area of Lovell and Becket St. A WPD Sergeant disarmed the suspect and took him into custody. There were no injuries and the threat to the public is over. We will release more information when it is available.

buckets to local veterans. The buckets include coats, masks, hand sanitizer and snacks for veterans in need. It’s all part of the Coats4Vets initiative by the Massachusetts Military Foundations.
The Worcester Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in locating missing fourteen-year-old Jorge Rivera. Jorge went to stay with a friend on Harlow St a week ago, and was supposed to return home to his Birch St residence yesterday but did not. (1/2)
The Squad Room is full of gifts for 570 local children. Officer Mailea (top left )reached out to local organizations to create a list of children in need. Each child will get a bag of presents from their wish list that were bought & wrapped by our officers.

WPD Officers are shipping more than a dozen care packages to service men and women this week. Officer Nicholas Riggieri organized the project. Officer Riggieri is a combat veteran. This project was very personal to him since some of the packages will be going to his former unit.
