For those who need baked lighting in #UnrealEngine5 (for VR, or other) , you need to do a few things. 1. Enable GPU Lightmass plugin 2. Turn on Virtual Texture Support in project settings. 3. Disable Lumen as GI in project settings. 4. Ensure lights aren't movable.

Takes like these in my video comments are honestly so... blegh. I have no qualms about using AI as a tool, but what's the fun in prompt-based images? Even if AI makes perfect shots eventually, you can be sure I'll still be making art because I adore the process, we always have.

A pet peeve of mine is when the term VFX in games refers to simply real-time FX. VFX implies compositing CGI elements into a live-action plate. Why are things more complicated than they need to? A lot of VFX has FX, but not all FX are VFX. Thank you.

I get a lot of folks asking why bother with Pathtracing in #UE5 ? Totally defeats the purpose of using Unreal right? Nah man, Megascans is free. That alone makes UE worth gold as a content creation tool. #pathtracer4life

EasyFog has been updated for #UnrealEngine 5.2! A quick update, no more need to use the pathtracer toggle anymore, the material will automatically switch/update if you turn pathtracer on, or off. Enjoi!

Regarding #unrealengine 5.0, if you're experiencing bugs or crashes, ask yourself if you simply updated from Preview 1-2, directly to the full build. If you did, consider removing that, and installing UE5.0 again from scratch. It's helped me and a few others. Good luck!

Since the topic of education in Games/VFX is coming up. I’m largely self-taught. In 14 years I have never been asked about my education. I even managed to work abroad, without a degree, because I was able to make up for it with enough years of work experience to get a visa.

A request for the #unrealengine devs: Would it be possible to increase the density cap of foliage? Having it capped at 10'000 just is not enough sometimes when working specific scenes. I am forced to use the "single" mode and click like a maniac to override this. Thank you <3

Any blueprints experts out there? I'm using a sphere mask through a blueprint to mask out a material here as you can see, but it only works on one blueprint at a time. In the screenshot there are two blueprints, wondering if there's a way to combine the effect of the two?

"Lookdev" is a term we use in VFX a lot, mainly by texture artists and lighters. Gamedev folks, do you use that term at all? I seem to remember not knowing what it was until I made my way into film from the games industry.

In UE5’s Quixel Bridge, can we independently change the mesh resolution and texture resolution? If you choose nanite, it has to be an 8k texture. I rarely want 8k textures blowing up my storage or vram. I use 2k-4k textures for most assets unless I need to get close.

Does anyone have solid documentation on the color science that goes on under the hood in #UE5 ? I'm trying to get to the bottom of the sRGB vs ACES working space, and what happens to textures on import. If I import an albedo map that was conformed to ACES, will it stay that way?

More and more AI tools are coming out by the day. I'm noticing that many of them are browser-based, you need upload your files to their servers for processing. While likely necessary, I'm not excited about giving strangers the source files of my work? Client work is a no-go.

Things I'd love to see in #UE5 's Pathtracer: - Better sampling control of SSS, Albedo, Spec, Light, etc. -More AOVs - A/B comparison/snapshot - Crop region, to render a small part of the viewport for testing/lookdev - Colorspace/LUT control (not PPV) What would you like to see?

You #unrealengine users, do you also notice that viewport fps TANKS the moment you have another window open? (Material Editor, blueprint, static mesh editor, etc) If I close it, I get a good 10-30fps back. I noticed this during an update back in UE4. Wasn't always like this

So , #UE5 .1 Preview 2 has completely broken subsampling when it comes to rendering with MRQ :( Tons of ghosting and artifacting on the renders. 5.0.3 worked fine. Turning off temporal or spatial subsampling works fine. In case anyone using #unrealengine was wondering!

@mac_shirk I promise I don’mean to sound like a dick, but when Lumen behaves this way, it means there is something incorrectly done on the users end. Use the lumenscene to narrow down the actors causing it. You should be using nanite, the two have a symbiotic relationship.
