I've said this many times but I love my WSA network on twitter. Most of the time now when doing my scans, I find that you guys are already on top of these crooks before I can get to them. Making whiskey twitter unwelcome to scammers is the whole intent of this account. Thank you!
I know this account is very single-minded and not for everyone but it's always a little odd when I find an industry or enthusiast account that has me blocked.
guys. Guys. GUYS! We finally did it!
@homewhiskey
is gone! I've been after that account for 18 months. Huge success. The scammers running it will now switch over to the backup account
@onlinewhiskey
but this is still a huge win. Thanks for all the help with this.
Got another new one today. Meet
@stive_will94220
. This is a new account but a scammer I've been tracking for a long time. If they're in your mentions or DMs, watch your money!
Thanks to my network for the heads up!

Ok this is interesting. Both
@onlinewhiskey_
and
@Kellynel11
have disappeared overnight but I'm not sure if the accounts were suspended by twitter or if they deleted themselves. Either way, they're gone! Been fighting them for months this is a big win.
700 followers today. Amazing how this acct has grown. A year & a half ago I saw
@whiskey_home__
(was
@bourboncenter
then) scamming people on here & it pissed me off, so this idea began. At the time I had no idea the scale of the problem. Thanks all for helping me slow them down!
guys. Guys. GUYS! Big news! Long time worthless scammer
@kushmapm
recently known as
@busawinespirits
is now gone! Same scammer was also behind
@jhadisson
[suspended] and many other accounts. He'll be back but will need to rebuild.
Most people who've contacted me after being scammed tell me that they knew better. Trust your gut. If it's too good to be true, walk.

I repeat myself a lot. I'm even repeating this message! I appreciate the patience of my long time followers. I need to keep the messaging fresh in the timeline because it's still not getting received by everyone.
Here
@stive_will94220
is stealing photos from Prairie Liquors in Kansas - from a 3 year old raffle.
None of these scam accounts have the bottles they advertise. Watch your money!

Many scam sites are very professional looking but they usually have mistakes. Look for bad grammar, design problems, dead links, listed addresses that are unrelated or in the middle of nowhere, artifacts from the web template (lorem ipsum text) etc.
The details always matter.
I know I repeat myself a lot so I appreciate the patience of my long time followers. The message still isn't getting to everyone so I restate it often. There are new victims every week.
So
@William_Dari_
is trotting this photo out again. He expects you to believe he has 3 gold wax Pappy 23s. Bottle 267 is from 2003 and A319 & A624 from 2005. Very rare bottles and definitely not available. This photo gets used a lot.

So, to recap:
Homewhiskey - gone ✔️
Onlinewhiskey - gone ✔️
Kellynel11 - gone ✔️
Tastethebourbon - gone ✔️
All large, successful accounts that I was fighting for over a year. Some big wins over the past couple of weeks!
Another legit vs scam example. Whiskey scammers don't actually have any bottles, so they lift legit photos from other user accounts to use in their fraud.
@bourbonretail
is a scam account.

Most of the scams I see on twitter are related to bourbon. At times, a few Japanese and some scotch. Scammers are very opportunitstic and right now the large majority are targeting the hot American whiskey market.
Christmas provides us an opportunity to pause and reflect on the important things around us, so thank you everyone for the support this year. It really made a huge difference.
I wish all of you the joy of this season.
Merry Christmas!

135 scam accounts axed after 3000+ reports to twitter since this account was created. Never thought that the problem was this large when I started!
How these scams operate and how avoid them ->
.
@BuffaloTrace
You should pressure
@TwitterSupport
to suspend
@tastethebourbon
. It's a clear violation of their terms by impersonating your brand to scam people. I've been badgering them to do something about it for weeks now but they seem unwilling or incapable of doing anything
Frustrating to see another person being scammed on here today.
@TwitterSupport
and
@TwitterSafety
are absolutely useless.
Make no mistake,
@Twitter
does not care about you. Not one bit.
Drifting out of my lane here for sec, but folks - 99% of those philanthropy "giveaway" twitter accounts are scams. No there isn't a bunch of millionaires on here giving away their fortunes. Don't fill out forms. Don't send any info. Don't send money.
Now
@Pluckyman5
is trying to scam using a photo of very rare bottle. Both are gold wax pappy 23s, but the bottle on the right is a straightbourbon dot com single barrel release from around 2007. Likely one of the rarest bottles of Pappy ever. And no, plucky here doesn't have it.
I love that you guys are already all over these accounts, often before I even get a chance to jump on them. It really is a team effort and I appreciate all the help.
#WhiskeyScamArmy
I've been tracking this scammer for a long time over many months and accounts. We keep knocking him down and making him rebuild.
@KevinAiden2
has no whiskey. There are no satisfied clients. No deliveries. All a scam.

I know I'm asking people to trust me, an anonymous account on twitter, & that's a lot for some folks. But, as the kids would say, I do have the receipts. I encourage you to do your own research. You'll come to similar conclusions. I've just been tracking these scams longer.
