Damn, the Twitch leaks really do confirm what I already knew: the pay is absolute dogshit. I'm apparently the 5086th best paid streamer on the platform, and I get paid way less than minimum wage. Twitch revenue doesn't become 'liveable' till your in the top 1000 or higher.

Obviously, community is far more important to me than payouts, but it's friggin grim seeing tons of streamers pour countless hours into the platform for what feels like a pittance. Obviously sponsorships, external funding, etc... tip the scales, but oof.

@Wanderbots so top heavy it's ridiculous.

@PersistentWorld While this is very true, I don't begrudge the top streamers that much. Most of them worked hard to get where they are, and earned their success to a degree. I'm just blown away by how many "large" streamers are still getting paid poverty wages for their efforts.

@Wanderbots Egads. I knew it was bad, but those numbers really do put things in stark terms.

@silly_pseudonym Yup. Hopefully most streamers have a double dip with YT, TikTok, sponsorships, merch, etc... But man I feel awful for anyone trying to survive exclusively off of twitch.
