He wrote a couple of weeks ago, wishing me a happy birthday. “I could have called mukoma but I’m not well” he said. Tests confirmed it. Colon cancer. I told him to be strong. 2 days ago I tweeted a fundraiser for him. Today, I woke up to read Patson has died. RIP warrior of light

Both are young Zimbabweans. One is in jail. The state says he incited public violence. The other is free. No arrest although there’s clear evidence of him threatening public violence & using hate speech. The difference is that one is MDC Alliance and the other is ZANU PF.

1. The first time I went to a supermarket in the U.K. I asked a staff member where the parcel counter was located. The chap responded with a befuddled look and directed me to the Post Office. “We don’t do parcels here mate,” “try the Post Office,” he said busily but politely.

I have just received confirmation that Hopewell Chin’ono who has been detained since 20 July has finally been granted bail by the High Court at the fourth time of asking. Finer details to follow #ZimbabweanLivesMatter

Members of the riot police came to the offices of Hopewell Chin’ono’s lawyers Mtetwa & Nyambirai. They parked nearby and started singing. When a staff member went to check they asked him what he was doing & he told them he was at work. They said they were also at work.

I have read that Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF) spokesperson Col. Overson Mugwisi succumbed to COVID19. He probably had a seat in in the Joint Operations Command (JOC) and one imagines JOC must have been very busy & meeting regularly in the run up to July 31.

Fuel price increases without wage increases can only mean one thing: wages and savings have been totally eroded. Prices will rise. Everything. The first sign is workers will not be able to go to work. You solve one problem but open up another. It’s a calamity. Solve the politics!
