I met with representatives of #Weldon Parish Council to discuss various highways issues, including traffic calming and the required safe A43 crossing. I strongly back these efforts and am continuing to help convene meetings with relevant parties and pressing for solutions.

It is totally unacceptable that police officers were assaulted by violent protesters who attempted to disrupt Immigration teams. They have my full backing in taking the most robust action possible & I want to thank them for their swift response to the incidents today.

Following my recent visit to @whitworths in #Irthlingborough , I was pleased to stop by their ‘Rethink Small’ event in London to support them as they highlighted the benefits of introducing just a small handful of dried fruit, nuts & seeds into our diets. Insightful stuff!

Good to take part in Home Office Questions, including answering on our progress in closing hotels used to accommodate asylum seekers, having closed 100+ by the end of March, with more to come. While others with no plan criticise, we'll keep on delivering.

In January we stopped most overseas students from bringing dependents to the UK. New data shows 26,200 fewer applications for student dependent visas in the first three months of 2024 compared to 2023. We promise action. We are delivering. We have a plan. It is working.

Useful to meet with Warrens Close residents, #Irthlingborough , to understand concerns about applications for flats there. If approved, it would cause significant parking difficulties & impact on emergency access. A clear case of overdevelopment & supporting residents accordingly.

Interesting to visit @Primark distribution centre at #Islip to hear more about the work that takes places there. As a large local employer, a very high percentage of their global product base is processed here - fascinating to hear about the operation & focus on sustainability.

Thanks to our economic approach, we can cut taxes for working people by an average of £900 per year. From 1st April, we’ve also raised the National Living Wage to £11.44/hour – an average £1,800 boost for a fulltime worker. Great news, which’ll make a big difference in #CorbyEN !

I met with residents of the Diamond Heights estate in #Irthlingborough to discuss concerns about the developer, Davidsons Homes, not completing the estate to the standard promised. I'll be asking for a meeting with them & residents to see how the issues can be rectified urgently.
