‼️ @EU_Commission intends to close Art. 7 concerning #Poland . I welcome the trend of positive changes. While work needs to continue, the risk of a serious breach of #RuleOfLaw is no longer here.   👉

‼️ #MediaFreedomAct enters into force For the first time ever, the 🇪🇺 has a law to protect media freedom. We recognise that journalists play an essential role for #democracy & should be protected. I call on Member States to implement the new rules as soon as possible.

W/ 🇬🇪 MFA @iliadarch we also discussed the foreign agents law in #Georgia . On foreign funding, the right approach is to focus on #transparency . 🇬🇪 should take inspiration from 🇪🇺 Focusing on sanctioning/labelling /restricting actors' operation is in contradiction w/ EU approach.

I came to #Slovakia to listen, exchange & help. I met with 🇸🇰 PM Fico, Defence Minister Kaliňák and Deputy PM Kmec to discuss the #RuleOfLaw and what needs to be done to secure #RRF money. We discussed NGO law and #media as well.
