Regarding the Flatpak issue in Ubuntu flavors, we want to reassure you that these are only the official flavors and that we have no intention of adopting Snap as a replacement for Flatpak or remove Flatpak at all. Nothing will change. ref:

The structure of Orchid is very different from 22.10. It's built using images instead of a old fashioned approach. Pico is a minimal Debian image built using debootstrap and the Vanilla OS repositories. It can be used to obtain a dev environment or build a Core image.
