2020 Massachusetts High School Principal of the Year, DESE Innovation Pathway leader, proud father and husband, sports fan, educator. All views are my own.
Such an honor to receive the
@MSAA_33
HS Principal of the Year Award today, and even more privileged to share this moment with the amazing UHS staff/community and my family. Thank you to
@CTENewtonPS
, and especially to
@apdimeg
and
@DrFrankTiano
for the kind words.
Proud to share that I’ve completed my Doctor of Education! I successfully defended my dissertation this morning. After 215 pages, nearly 55000 words, 6 charts, 98 tables of data, and 106 unique sources, the journey is complete!
If this is not what high school sports is all about, I don't know what is! Fans and team storming their court as one our Unified Spartans scores 10 in tonight's JV game!

How I wish students could wait for the announcement from the radio like we did. Reading a no school tweet just does not seem to have the same anticipation.
That said, no school today (12/3).

Thanks to
@DSPics
for the amazing shot, and
@steve5927
, my dad, for pointing out my resemblance to the Quaker Oat mascot, particularly after 5 months without a haircut. (I can get one, maybe, now that 2020 has officially graduated)!

Administrators are people with families, health risks, fears, lives, and very real worries about safety. I do not know a single
@MSAA_33
colleague who has not lost sleep about the untenable situation we are in or who would willingly put people at risk. We are

District superintendents & principals across the state agree with teachers unions about wanting to ensure the safest schools possible, said Tom Scott, president of the M.A.S.S.
@massupt
But he disagreed with the unions’ approach.
There are 300+ schools in the Commonwealth. Some are single gender. In the last two years, exactly two have won multiple state titles in the same season, across 2 genders. The
@UHS_Spartans
are 1.

There is an old Yiddish saying: "When the heart is full, the eyes overflow." Sums up the sentiment of these past few days. Hug your loved ones. Be kind. And thank those who support you along the way.
Going on a social media cleanse for a few days. The comments and messages from too many people that are incendiary and disrespectful are giving me pause to reflect and reconsider a great many things. (1/3)
Tomorrow will be my final day working with
@DrFrankTiano
in Uxbridge. Our entire team owes him a debt of gratitude for his unwavering leadership and commitment, his constant presence, and his remarkable patience and compassion, all blended with high standards. (1/2)
Congratulations to English Teacher, Department Leader, and Student Council Advisor Sheila Bernard, on being named the 2023 UHS Educator of the Year!

Fare thee well,
@UHS_Class_2020
. Grateful to have had an opportunity for an in-person ceremony. A few more candids will be coming. Until then, congrats and be well!

When there are positives popping everywhere, and your nurse needs some extra hands, that makes it time for me to glove up! If we didn't laugh every once in a while we would cry!

Our
@UHS_Spartans
football players asked staff members to don their jerseys today in the spirit of team and community. This makes me proud; I'm grateful for the captains and
@UxbFootball
Coach Blood for the idea.

First SWCL Fishing Derby in the books after a great day today on Webster Lake! Thanks to all who participated or helped out!

This message will resonate for a few of you who will watch the scrolling towns on TV. Or, you can read the rest of this Tweet, which is informing everyone that school in Uxbridge will be canceled tomorrow. Stay warm and be safe, everyone!

I am so incredibly blessed to work with an amazing team, to be supported by an awesome staff and faculty, and to share a school with tremendous students.

Thank you
@RepSoter
for making a special effort to share

proclamations recognizing Mass. High School Principal of the Year
@UxbHSPrincipal
We appreciate your continued support of our schools and our community.
I love everything about today.
I love that our community celebrates the seniors.
I love how our students connect with kids & the relationships that interns get with their supervisors.
I love that this comes in a moment when our community needed its heart made full.

Happy holidays from our family. May the season and new year bring us all joy and good health. As Leonard Cohen once said, "Act the way you’d like to be, and soon you’ll be the way you act."
People used to ask me why I went into education, and now I can't seem to go a week without being asked why I stay in education. Watch this, and you'll know why. Being part of a journey like this is a gift.

Humbled beyond words by
@RepSoter
at tonight's SC meeting, recognizing
@apdimeg
and I with a citation from the House of Reps for our collective work. We have a great team at UHS, and we keep striving to push forward for our staff, students, and community!

Not unusual for my vehicle to be the last one leaving on the last day of school on a picture perfect day. The journey, however, to this point was unlike any other.
This lot will be full again. I hope soon.

I don't know where we are as a nation. I don't know how this gets solved. I don't know the words to express the sadness for it all. In a world where nobody agrees on anything anymore, can't we all agree that mass murders in elementary schools is beyond horrific...
The College is saddened at the passing of Grace Rett '22 after an accident involving our women's rowing team. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family, friends and teammates. As we are able, we will provide updates and more information here:

, the Holocaust Day of Remembrance, I remember my grandparents, who both survived. Much of their families were not so fortunate. We will never forget, nor will we be indifferent to hatred in any form it takes.

Thank you to our community for supporting this budget. We have made some challenging decisions, and we have work to do, but tonight validates so much of it.
Just going to leave this here, for a number of reasons:

About to make a few people happy. Not with a mention about a water pipe or tonight's basketball games...but informing that there is no school tomorrow in Uxbridge.

To my admin friends, after 12 straight days of trying to keep it all together, token reminder to try for some self-care. We cannot be there for our staffs, students, and communities if we don't take care of ourselves too.

Three months of stress, considerations, planning, and empathy to get tomorrow's graduation ready. Appreciative of our facilities, tech, and

Honored to be recommended for the

Today completely stretched my emotional capacity as a school leader. As so many on the periphery focus on results, politics, and budgets, the inside of a school is organic and personal when it is done right. When one hurts, we all hurt.

I love being a principal.
I love handing diplomas to young men and women at graduation.
I love being a fan at dominant baseball and softball games.
Add it up, multiply by 100... doesn't come close to the love I get being a girl dad.
From a parent this morning: "You guys really did an amazing job adjusting to COVID. I wasn't sure what it would look like, but my kid learned a ton and everyone really was super supportive. Just a great job all around." So proud of the staff for sticking through!
