You know what, fuck it, let's talk about how Luffy handled those three in the best way he could

For Nami, you have someone who's had this heavy burden eating away at her for over 8 years who's been dealing with it on her own because she actively refused any and all help, especially Luffy's, and it drove her straight into a mental breakdown

Before Luffy could say anything to Nami that could actually get through to her, he needed Nami to realize that she wasn't on her own and had friends that she could rely on and ask for help, which Luffy accepted with 0 hesitation.

Next is Robin, not only did she have serious betrayal issues in the past, she also believed that the Straw Hats wouldn't be able to fight off her pursuers forever. She believed they'd abandon her like everyone else did and that it'd be better for her to die then go through that

What Luffy needed to do here wasn't to try and convince her to come back because he needed her. What he did was declare war on the WG and put the same target Robin has on her back, on the crew's.

He does all that to show Robin that she's not a burden and them being enemies of the entire world isn't something that could ever make them hate her or abandon her.

All of that culminated in him telling Robin to tell them that she wants to live, something she believed she didn't have any right to do

Lastly, Usopp. Initially, Luffy was more than willing to just forgive Usopp's outburst and put their argument behind them, but it was Usopp who insisted on leaving and insisted on fighting. Whereas Sanji fought Luffy to try and drive him away, Usopp fought for his own pride.

And later, Luffy again was more than willing to let him back on the crew without a second thought. But Zoro was right in his point. Usopp rejoining like nothing happened and essentially casting aside all responsibility for the fight regains none of the crew's trust that he lost

Anyways, the words you say to one person won't have the same impact to another. You think Nami at any point in Orange Town wanted to hear Luffy talk about needing her to be the Pirate King while her life was falling apart around her? No

And just to tie things up, you wanna know why Luffy said that he couldn't become pirate King, it's because Sanji said he didn't believe Luffy had what it takes to do it. And Luffy's response is him letting Sanji know that he's part of what it'll take, like the rest of the crew.

@Roronoa5681Z Garp was literally right there throwing cannonballs at the ship, you think they're just gonna stand still and let their entire pirate journey end because their new ship was destroyed and they got caught
