@ChrisMurphyCT So true. When was the last time that Republicans supported legislation that actually helped people?

Republicans see government as a vehicle to transfer wealth from the poor and middle class to the rich. So they get really, really angry when Democrats use government to do things to help regular people, like cut the cost of drugs or reduce student loans.

@ThosChamberlain @ChrisMurphyCT Ah, they introduced the veteran burn pit legislation as a stance alone bill in Feb. 2021. The Dems. Added $400B pork—most not vet-related to it and made our vets wait 14 months longer for relieved. Just ONE small example.

@ThosChamberlain @ChrisMurphyCT People mass exodus from blue states moving to red states suggests this is a bad take.

@ThosChamberlain @ChrisMurphyCT The problem is that you begin with an assumption that it’s the governments job to “help people”. In reality it was set up to provide defense and infrastructure for interstate commerce. You’re trying to eat soup with a fork and blaming the fork for being ineffective.

@ThosChamberlain @ChrisMurphyCT The PACT act that just recently passed? Or the gun legislation that recently passed? Or the CHIPS act? Or the Biden infrastructure bill? Or do those not actually help people?
