The Colinton Tunnel is a disused Victorian railway tunnel located in Edinburgh’s Spylaw Park. In 2018 locals persuaded the council to let them breathe new life into the tunnel. It now features Scotland’s largest historical mural.

10 agonisingly long days ago my beloved boy had an X-ray that showed a lump on his leg bone - the c word was mentioned. 10 anxiety and depression filled days later it’s been confirmed to be a ligament problem. Relief doesn’t even begin to describe how I’m feeling right now.
Since heather season is in full bloom, here’s the Wee White Dug surrounded by it. In winter this road in the

is often impassable due to snow. In summer it’s a riot of colour.
Have you experienced heather season in

Charles Dickens was walking in Edinburgh’s Canongate Kirkyard when fading light led him to misread the gravestone of Ebenezer Scroggie, Meal Man (grain merchant). He read is as Mean Man and thought what a horrible way to be remembered. It inspired his character Ebenezer Scrooge.
Happy birthday to this little guy who’s 7 today. After posing like a good sport in his birthday hat, he hiked up and along the top of Knockan Crag. At the summit he stopped to take in the view and enjoyed the wind blowing through his hair.

The Kelpies looking awesome earlier. The giant Clydesdales affectionately known as Duke and Baron are the largest equine sculptures in the world. They stand 100ft tall and were created by Andy Scott. You can find them at The Helix Park, Falkirk.

“Look Mum I’m a Kelpie”. I can’t believe it’s 10 years since

We started today with a walk to visit the lonely ruins of Auchindoun Castle. The 15th century fortress sits in a lovely, secluded spot near Dufftown. I love that Scotland is full of amazing hidden corners you usually get all to yourself. 😍🏴

8 years ago today I met this hairy faced Highlander - it was love at first sight. I could never have imagined the positive impact he’d have on my life. Avid hill bagger, history geek, beach lover, natty dresser and cheeky rascal. He’s the best wee pal a girl could wish for. 💕🏴
The University of Glasgow is 573 years old today. It was founded in 1451 and is the 4th oldest University in the UK after Oxford, Cambridge and St Andrews.

It’s Monday, so here’s The Wee White Dug surrounded by bonnie bluebells to cheer you up. St John’s in Ballachulish has to be one of the prettiest spots in Scotland at this time of year. 😍💕 (No bluebells were trampled to get this shot. I always respect nature).

Nothing cheers your day like a bonnie wee face keeking out of the spring flowers 🌼🌼🌼🐶🌼🌼🌼🌼🌼 - This is Alloa Tower, it dates to the 14th C and is one of Scotland’s largest surviving tower houses. It was once home to the 6th Earl of Mar, leader of the 1715 Jacobite rising.
The Wee White Dug is already on the shortbread and Irn Bru so there’s no telling how crazy this night will get from here on in. Happy New Year when it comes folks - lang may yer lum reek. 🥳🥂🏴

With witching season approaching, here’s a creepy location for you. New Slains Castle stands on a cliff by the North Sea. Bram Stoker used to holiday nearby. It’s said the castle inspired Castle Dracula. Visit on a wet and windy day and its easy to see why. 🧛♀️

today. Enjoyed a coffee and a walk on the Cammo Estate with this handsome fella. 😍 No bluebells were flattened in the taking of this photo. If you are out and about photographing them, be careful not to stomp all over them.

It was a blawy inauguration for Casper King of Dàl Riata! I didn’t have the heart to tell him his foot was too wee! This is Dunadd, one of Scotland’s most significant historic sites. It’s where the ancient Gaelic speaking kings of Dàl Riata were inaugurated.

I love snowy photos of my boy. I snapped this one at Rest and Be Thankful last year. We’d stopped to grab a coffee from the wee van that parks there and couldn’t resist a play in the snow. It’s such a pretty spot, but with snow it’s magical.

It’s not all go for The Wee White Dug - sometimes he sleeps on the job. 😴 Here he is in Aberdeenshire enjoying the spring sunshine and catching up on a some shut eye. I’m looking forward to heading back to Aberdeenshire in a few months time. 😍

The Wee White Dug celebrated his 6th birthday yesterday with a camping trip to the Isle of Skye. In true Skye fashion we spent our time there in wind, rain and mist. Here he is trying to get into the party spirit at Kinloch Campsite, Dunvegan. 😂

Here’s a photo to raise a smile on Monday. It’s nearly time to carve turnip lanterns, dook for apples and go guising here in Scotland. An American was once shocked to learn we had Halloween in Scotland. Us Celts invented Halloween as you know it, was my response. 👻

Ahhhh, Achmelvich - one of my favourite places to sit with my boy and stare out to sea. He rarely sits still, yet he’ll happily sit and gaze with me here. 😍🌊

I’ve lived in Edinburgh my whole life but I’ve never climbed the Nelson Monument before as I’m scared of heights. 🙈 Today, I braved it to the top - wowzer! I stayed up there for all of 30 seconds and snapped 4 photos, knees knocking in fear.

12 years ago this evening I met Mr G at a Christmas party in Edinburgh. It was love at first sight (for both of us luckily). 😂 We’ve been inseparable ever since. He shares my sense of humour, taste in music and love of exploring Scotland. They’ve been 12 wonderful years. 🎉💕

One of the things I love about being a Scottish travel blogger is exploring Scotland on foot with my two favourite boys. Be it mountain, beach, forest, a long hike or a short stroll we’ve discovered some amazing walks. This scenic one is in Aberdeenshire.😍

Scott’s View in the Borders was loved by Sir Walter Scott. It’s now named in his honour and popular with visitors. A stone’s throw from it, is this slightly better view of the Eildon Hills (IMO) from higher up, and the best bit - no other people.🥰

A hike to The Bone Caves was one of the highlights of my trip to Assynt last weekend. It’s one of my favourite walks in Scotland. Even in the height of summer it was quiet. When the caves were excavated bear, arctic fox, lynx and reindeer bones were discovered.

I do love an island escape with my boy. Being in Oban next week for a job seemed like a great opportunity for an island hopping holiday. We’ll be spending a few days on Tiree and hopefully lots of time on the beach. Fingers crossed for days like this one on Iona last year. 💙
It’s the winter solstice today, so from here on in the nights will be fair drawing out! I do love winter though. Give me spending a cold crisp day outdoors (preferably snowy) and a cosy night cooried indoors by the fire.

Ridiculous attitude. Imagine if we all took to TripAdvisor to vent about places we didn’t get to eat at because they were fully booked. Susan wants to try getting a table at Tiffany & Co in NYC - that’d really make her mad. You guys are awesome and so welcoming to guests.
The WWD doesn’t give a hoot about snowdrops but there’s a slight whiff of wild garlic in the air which means his favourite time of year is nearly here. I’m bracing myself for very slow walks to the sound of ‘sniff, sniff, sniff’. He’s obsessed with wild garlic.🙄
