Hi,
I am doctor. Specifically, an emergency doctor. Every teenager who goes into cardiac arrest sees myself or one of my colleagues.
There is no increase in teenagers collapsing or going into cardiac arrest.
You’re just more aware of it, and have a political motive to care.
Hi.
I’m not a doctor.
I’m just a simple man of 37 years who pays attention to trends we can see with our own eyes.
I’m here to tell you that it is NOT NORMAL for thousands of healthy teenage athletes to be collapsing - some dying - from cardiac arrest.
Now ask: Why?
🧐
Important reminder: Naomi Wolf is not a medical doctor. She’s not a medical anything. She isn’t qualified to park cars in the hospital garage. If she sits next to you on a plane and offers medical advice, roll your eyes and ignore her.
I’m sure “silence” was painful for her.
Twitter... Where one of the world’s best all around people gets piled on by humanity’s absolute garbage. It was bad before Elon, but it’s beyond the point of being a cesspool now.
@PeterHotez
is what we should all strive to be. How he gets demonized is inconceivable to me.
Elon: Maybe you weren’t aware but in 2020 we asked you to support our lab that ultimately made low-cost, patent-free Covid vaccines, 100 million doses administered. Even though you couldn’t help us then, we still need help for our low-cost XBB booster + universal CoV versions
Weird, this whole time I’ve maintained an ability to communicate with patients while wearing a mask, like a functional adult who is at least minimally resilient.
Antivaxxers: “I’m not antivax, I’m just against this one vaccine!”
Also antivaxxers: (see attached)
I am among many who have been trying to warn….this is the inevitable result. This is why COVID vaccine disinformation is so dangerous.
Look, I'm not generally a fan of taking a person's twitter persona and having them kicked out of med school for it... but saying "The only thing keeping me from being completely untethered from any moral/ethical standards was being a med student" seems to re-affirm this decision.
Because we want our kids to grow up to be healthy adults. Vaccines cause adults.
People like this cannot fathom how privileged they are to live in a time when we have so many safeguards against natural selection that they face practically zero consequences for morbid stupidity.
Last week it was “DNA in the vaccines”, this week it’s going to be “hydrogel”, also known as air bubbles on the microscope slide.
It’s just all so stupid. It’s wildly entertaining, but dangerously stupid.
Plastic surgeon could spend his day diving into a pool of gold coins like Scrooge McDuck, but instead decided to teach a toxicologist about his own specialty.
@LouMerloni
Why is it unacceptable? It’s not an unearned reputation and there’s no rule saying you have to like the city in which you partially own a business.
…otherwise known as a standard day in the ER. None of these are uncommon. I saw three chest pain patients under 30 today as well. All of them were fine.
Really goes to show how pointless it is to argue with antivaxxers (not that I can help myself).
They want to discuss studies and obscure immune concepts, you give them the time of day to explain those things, but they get confused about the etiology of congenital disorders.
Got doxxed by one of the sociopath, antivax “mouse” people. I don’t work particularly hard to stay anonymous, but it’s yet another reminder that there is no “pro-vax” equivalent to this kind of vile behavior, which Musk encourages. This is an actual attempt at silencing someone.
COVID contrarians: We require a 3 million person RCT and six decades of data tracking to even consider that vaccines may potentially be safe.
Also COVID contrarians: THIS GUY BROKE HIS TOE 9 MONTHS AFTER VACCINATION IT IS A SEVERE AE AND IT IS EVIDENCE FOR NUREMBERG 2
@Wendell25
These articles are discussing the increase in heart attacks, also called myocardial infarction, not sudden cardiac arrest. While the media uses the term “heart attack” in both scenarios, that is not correct usage. The trend above is markedly worsening, but has been for a while.
Thalidomide was not FDA approved. It was rejected by the FDA due to safety concerns.
Regulatory oversight of pharmaceuticals isn’t a joke. No serious person claims the pharmaceutical industry “does no wrong”. It’s an antivax straw man.
Does any profession get more laypeople confidently telling them (incorrectly) how to do their jobs than healthcare workers? I’m including all members of the team, not just doctors.
Do these people have any idea how frequently we all comply with government mandates without even thinking about it? A traffic light is also a test of compliance lmao
I see “the FDA says ivermectin actually does work for COVID” is the newest conspiracy theorist talking point flavor of the week, so we should address this:
No they didn’t. They said they lacked the authority to prevent docs from prescribing it, which they never claimed to have.
@BRosolowskiMD
Intuition and gestalt are examples of your subconscious ability to process lots of complicated, sometimes subtle information and, because you’ve seen it before, you know what to do. It’s great when medicine becomes second nature.
As
@gorskon
says, and I’ve repeated many times: Scratch an antivaxxer, find an antisemite. And she is one of the most vile antivaxxers in existence (numerous episodes of blatant hate speech toward more than Jews)
PSA: “Turbo Cancer” is not a thing. It’s not just not caused by vaccines, it doesn’t exist at all.
It’s not being seen, grifters like William Makis are inventing this concept because, at least in his case, he can’t practice legitimate medicine and is making a name for himself.
Am I on here primarily to troll? No.
Do I thoroughly enjoy refusing to tell antivaxxers when my last vaccine was because I know it bothers them? Absolutely.
@JenniferMarguli
Strep and COVID. Not the vaccine, the actual virus. You’re a journalist? They gave you the answer right in a social media post… did you even talk to them? What disgusting behavior, misrepresenting their painful experience for political points and social media clout.
Antivaxxers, 2021: “it is NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS to know whether or not I’m vaccinated, and HOW DARE you ask!”
Antivaxxers, today: “Well how do you know it isn’t a vAcCiNe InJuRy if you don’t even ask absolutely everyone their vax status?!?”
@mamadoctoo
This is from over a decade prior to COVID. The upward trend in youth cardiac arrests is essentially unchanged, but not what the Twitter herd is talking about anyway. I don’t want to be mistaken— I’m not saying it doesn’t happen, I’m saying to stop blaming COVID vaccines.
Antivaxxers: THE CDC IS HIDING DATA THE VA**X💉💉XES CAUSE STROKES AND DEATH AND AUTISM AND THERE HIDING THE DATA
*CDC announces they investigated a safety signal and it’s nbd*
Antivaxxers: SEE?!? THE CDC SAYS VACCINES CAUSE STROKES AND DEATH AND AUTISM AND EVERYTHING BAAAAD!!!
@RyanMarino
The fact that she overdosed too is just so emblematic of the misguided nature of these kinds of charges. Obviously she wasn’t trying to let her friends die. It also is important to note that most dealers are using the same drugs sell, as happened here (if she actually dealt them)
@Pravduh15
@RyanMarino
It’s their job to get a blood glucose unless they explicitly know it’s opioid overdose. That includes if there are needles on scene— Diabetics use needles for insulin, which can cause hypoglycemia and a similar presentation. Bracelets are helpful, but medics need to check glucose
Pfizer didn’t “admit” anything, antivaxxers just didn’t understand that you can’t test for transmission.
Covid vaccines were ~90% effective at preventing symptomatic infection in the clinical trials (MRNA + Pfizer). Efficacy waned as the virus changed. Not complicated.
The vaccine doesn’t reduce infection. Pfizer has admitted they never even tested for it. More people died in 2021 from Covid after the vaccine rollout by nearly 50% than in 2020….
Anti-science/Anti-vaxxers: “You scientists/doctors are big egotistical meanies!!!”
Also anti-science/anti-vaxxers: “I have taught myself every scientific concept on Wikipedia and Google, and I’m here to tell you scientists and doctors that you know nothing about science!”
And yes, I’m going to continue to swear, call people out for being liars and frauds, belittle ignoramuses who spread lies despite being shown how wrong they are, and all my usual activity, because a.) I don’t actually have much of a following, and b.) it’s part of my job.
Don’t ever let antivaxxers get away with tone policing. These people (or bots, as some are) come up with some of the most vile verbal filth on the internet.
Murder fantasy? ☑️
Antisemitism/holocaust minimizing? ☑️
Homophobic slurs? ☑️
Hitting all the abhorrent antivax points!
Eli is garbage. Why can’t people be anti-mask and anti-vax but otherwise rational? Why do they always go all-in on being the worst people they can possibly be?
Yes, thank you to all the selfish shitbirds like her, who made 2020 and 2021 that much worse for everybody by refusing to do the absolute bare minimum for the good of everyone else.
To be clear,
@stkirsch
already tarnished his own reputation by spreading obvious lies. He guaranteed that Damar Hamlin was braindead, for example. He now plans to abuse the legal system to harass and bully anyone who confronts him on his for-profit antivaccine business venture.
Fellas, is it weak to protect yourself from moderate to severe COVID-19?
(Btw, the answer is no, Clay Travis is about as intelligent as a soggy piece of bread)
As much as they complain about being “silenced”, the only actual way to silence a COVID antivaxxer is to ask them which step of the clinical trial process was skipped.
The self-fulfilling prophecy of the anti-public health movement:
Misrepresent what PH does -> mock and undercut them -> “We can’t trust public health!” -> Openly wonder why public health can’t be trusted anymore -> repeat at next outrage cycle interval
@DoctorNatasha
So many people just don’t get this. Parents, kids, the elderly. They specifically don’t take COVID seriously, then they come in and say “well I shouldn’t feel this lousy!” and act all offended when we are like “actually, you don’t meet admission criteria”. It’s mindblowing.
Since the “YOU MURDERED THEM WITH VENTILATORS” nonsense is making its way through the contrarian outrage cycle again, here’s a great summary from
@19joho
as to why that’s bullshit:
@ImprovNutrition
It’s extremely unlikely that anyone who had a confirmed stroke was discharged from the hospital, let alone back to work. People having strokes also don’t typically look “pale” and unwell. It’s a neurological problem.
I wasn't an antivaxxer before Covid so I would very much like to thank all of the medical tyrants for pushing me over the edge and helping me learn just how corrupt Big Pharma is and how poisonous these toxins are. Firmly in the antivax camp now. Trust forever broken
Consider, people acting in good faith don’t hype up a release date for what they think is live-saving information. They might promote it, but they don’t build up for a release and delay until they’ve sufficiently gathered their desired attention. Another reason
@stkirsch
is trash
There is no “they”. The question is, while the rest of the world is moving on from COVID, when will crackpots like
@goddeketal
get bored of the antivax garbage and lazy anger-mongering, and do something useful?
Sadly, probably never. It’s profitable AND they crave attention.
Kevin has zero interest in “civil discourse”. He cries about the need for people to be nice, then goes on a tirade about how physicians, which he is not, kill people/cause harms via policies, while utterly failing to back a single claim. Then he gets mad when this is pointed out.
Ironically, Steve and Travis Kelce are equally qualified to give medical advice. Difference is
@tkelce
is correct and Steve has the intellect of an al dente noodle.
@thereal_truther
for SS credit, as Steve has bravely blocked me for calling him out.
I always joke that COVID contrarian grifters are selling people magic beans, but weirdos like this literally talk about ivermectin like it’s magic beans lol
Remember, Naomi is not actually a doctor. She isn’t qualified to operate the gate at the hospital parking lot. But she does spew lots of violent, anti-science rhetoric that, with a following as large and delusional as hers, really could become violent someday.
@RyanMarino
One time I (3rd year resident) had a pt who claimed he must have had weed laced with fentanyl, attending didn't believe me when I said it was impossible. Blew her mind when I was like "I'm not judging you man, you can tell me you used both" and the guy actually went "yeah, I did"
They always focus on appearance because they lack the intellect to actually discuss anything worthwhile. The likes of
@DC_Draino
also have not really matured past middle school. If an antivaxxer goes to teeth or body weight, you know you won. Laugh at them, they can’t do better.
Is anyone more insufferably stupid than Naomi Wolf? Sorry, “Dr” Naomi Wolf.
It wasn’t that surprising that menstrual bleeding (and changes in sperm count, we heard that too) could occur after COVID vaccination. What people denied, correctly, is that it causes harm.
Don’t be fooled. There is no reasonable concern for “lockdowns”, etc coming back. The only people talking about that stuff are those who profit and benefit most from outrage farming. Jay and others depend on this schtick, and jump on any apparent opportunity.
@Wendell25
COVID itself can have considerable impact on cardiovascular health. Nobody is denying that. Doesn’t mean COVID vaccines or COVID are definitively leading to appreciable increases in teenage OOH cardiac arrest.
Burgeoning Twitter grifter couldn’t handle people pointing out that he’s everything he claims to despise. Real shame.
It’s also generally not a good idea to bill yourself as any kind of authority while still a medical student.
