Ishant Sharma's brilliant Knuckle Ball usage. Started with a slightly lose traditional grip in the load up and changed it to knuckle ball grip as the arm went down for rotation. The change up was so subtle & late, it deceived an inform batter. Knuckle ball is not new for Ishant.
Naveen-ul-Haq variations. His action and release points are unusual, on top of that he has the ability to turn the ball both ways with his off cutter and leg cutter. Rare & rewarding skill to possess. His range on display today, with SKY (Leg Cutter) & Green (Off Cutter) wickets.
Pathirana has a lower release point than Malinga (& Thushara from LPL)
During release, Pathirana collapses his back a lot while Malinga was more upright. This resulted in a higher release point for Malinga, gave him a greater chance to get the slower ball to dip more. TradeMark.
Sanju Samson has a history of struggling vs Wrist Spin. He's always very tentative while picking the balls that turns in. So what he's done so far today is whatever bowled in line, he's defended it and attacked the ones that are outside the stumps line. Good Signs.
Here are Sikandar Raza’s 4 variations. Batters are struggling to pick him. Very commendable effort to develop control over these unique variations for someone who used to be a part-time spinner.
Virat Kohli hit a perfect balance between playing on the Front foot(58%) and Back foot(37%) in this innings. He had the lowest differential of 21% among all batters in this Test who faced more than 40 balls.

Ashes 2019. 7 Dismissals. 3 LBWs, 3 Outside Edges and 1 Bowled.
1)All incoming deliveries are having seam towards 2nd or 3rd slip with fingers close together.
2)All away going or straight deliveries have straight/slanted seam with fingers apart.
Yashashvi Jaiswal rise in T20s is gradual and consistent, he is truly learning the attack game from the best.
Year- Attack%, Boundary%, SR, Ave.
2020- 41, 10, 90.90, 13.33
2021- 63, 25, 148.21, 24.90

2023- 75, 30, 164.47, 41.66
Noticed an intresting detail
@RRRMovie
in Dosti Song.
1. Bheem is very seamless in Water but is concerned about the fire behind him.
2. Raju is not afraid of the fire behind him but he's very messy in the Water.
@ssrajamouli
's brilliant way of showing two extremes crossing paths.
Varun Chakravarthy's new Seam-up Leg Spinner.
-He used to bowl leg spin with a cross seam, last year he mentioned he is working on a new variation, a seam-up leg spinner. This away turning variation is bowled with seam-up, back of hand, imparts top spin, ball dips & bounces more.
He can hit speeds upto 135+kph and can go as low as 100kph. Can deceive the batter in the air or off the pitch.
The picture below is from a game vs Sri Lanka, Asia Cup 2022. This is a knuckle ball grip, but the actual ball isn't one- 138kph. Never seen him bowl one either.
Ian Bishop is like all of us, very Curious. Likes to pick the Cricketing brains in a good way. He's active in Social Media, he follows the trends and knows what questions to ask and always tries to get the answers we all are wondering about. He is A Cultured Man.
Jeeezzz.....Bishop and his questions to the captains at the toss...Man really asked about Hangargekar and the way MS explained about him and the reasoning... nothing but class, as always....
Shaheen Afridi sets up KL Rahul.
1)On Off Stump & moved Away.
2)Outside Off & moved Away.
3)On Legstump line & moved Away(here onto off stump).
4)On Middle and Off Stump & moved In sharply(KL didn't expect it & lined up to play the away line).

Jitesh Sharma is doing a lot of things right. He's not complicating the finisher role with some funky stance or backlifts. He's pretty traditional, staying right behind the crease & reacting to the ball. He's got good range overall. And that pull shot six is technical brilliance.
Shaheen Shah Afridi: Stock grip vs Off Cutter grip.
Another one of those 'delayed switch to slower ball' tactic on display (here it's an off cutter). He uses the bowling wrist exceptionally well- Back to front snap for stock balls and almost side to side roll for off cutters.
Just before the first free-hit ball you can see Kohli asking the square leg ump whether the 'two bouncers per over' is up or not. Once he knew it was not going to be a bouncer, he waited for non-bouncer lengths, stayed still and hit them through the line. Just brilliantly done.
Rehan Ahmed, 18 Year Old Leg Spinner. Picked two wickets on Day 1 of 3rd Test vs Pak. Has nice quick arm action. Bit hard to pick. Unusually his Googly turns more than his leg breaks.
Rehan Ahmed's Spin Direction- Average Deviation off the Pitch.
Googly= 3.383°
Leg Break= 1.498°
Fazal Farooqi, the 21 Year Old Afghanistan Left Arm Seamer can move the ball both ways, in the Air and off the Pitch. He's been very impressive with the new ball.
Noticed a couple of small points in his bowling. Here's his Bowling Breakdown.

Jadeja To Hameed. DISMISSAL.
1) Missed the rough but hit the bank of it. (The part where it's neither as hard as the normal pitch nor as worn out as the rough)
2) The ball then disturbs it (weak part) and turns big. The puff of dust indicates so.
Wanindu Hasaranga tyring Low - Horizontal Releases since Sri Lanka's Tour of Australia earlier this year. Now in the T20WC he's pushed the limit even more.
Saika Ishaque, before each delivery, is seen spinning the ball rapidly, showing batters her traditional SLA and when they are ready for it she fires an accurate Arm ball that goes straight on to stumps, beating them. So far, 9 of the 12 wickets she got in
#WPL
are with Arm balls.
Rishabh Pant is using his hands & wrists like always does but now he's also holding his body shape alot better than before, staying so still after the shot. Previously he used to lose his shape and end up in some weird positions. He looks set from the 1st ball itself. Solid.
Fav moment in that innings is
@AaronFinch5
calling this from Comm box.
"We can see Cam Green staying very leg side of the ball. Batting on leg stump guard, looking to access the off side & protect his stumps. We know if there's anything in the wicket Shami will get it out of it-"
Rishabh Pant has been playing like this forever. What he did differently today is he's been calculative & more mature than ever. Hence his score didn't stop in the 90's & went to the next step. He won India Test Matches when he was 20, now he's 24, his thinking can only go up.
India's Alrounder Trio in Indian Tests -since 2020
Player: Batting Ave/Bowling Ave
Ravi Jadeja: 57.83/15.84
Axar Patel: 39.44/13.82
Ravi Ashwin: 29.46/13.73
Crazy numbers when you consider that they all generally bat below 5. The depth they bring is ridiculous.

Dear

, lot's of love for bringing these heart touching and inspiring stories into light again and again. You never cease to surprise us. Respect Big Man. 🙌 🙌 🙌
It's been 1 year since I started all this. Initial idea was to collect Cricket Pictures & write articles. Found out I'm not very good at writing. One day

This is what Sunil Gavaskar was talking about.
Shuffling:
When KL Rahul last visited SA in 2018, he had a Back and across movement ending outside Off. Now it's pretty compact and stops on Off stump a major factor in judging the line of the ball knowing where his off stump is.

Chris Woakes is bowling both his stock ball and slower ball with very minimal changes or giveaways. It's been somewhat difficult to spot the difference until the ball lands. If the batters can look a bit closer they might tell which is the slower one depending on seam position.
This comparison was manually made by hand so the alignments and proportions might not be perfect. This is just for references and is the closest thing I can manage. Please excuse me for any errors or negligence.
If not for anything else, MS can be in the team just for his keeping, especially in Chepauk. A sharp catch, a quick stumping, a direct hit run out and those cute deflections on to the stumps using angles. And he's 41 years old. Elite wicket keeper.
Rather than deviation off the pitch it's the deception in the air from Mystery Spinner Abrar Ahmed that's troubled the England batters. 7-fer on Debut. For his Googly both the Ring and Pinky fingers pop out where as the Leg-Break is pretty traditional. Clever mix and use of both.
The average turn in the first innings in Multan was 3.5°. That's the fifth most turn for spinners against England in the 12 innings we've seen since McCullum and Stokes took over. Nothing extravagant off the surface for the Pakistan spinners.

Rishabh Pant's childhood coach Devendra Sharma confirms some key Points on 'One hand Shots' in Times of India article yesterday. Watch the Video below.
SKY does alot of funky stuff, primarily targeting behind the squares, his strong Zone vs Pace.
Key Skills: Good Hand-Eye Co-ordination, reads the bowlers well, Premeditates & gets into Wierd positions(works for him) & BOOM.
Two positions from last game:
*But Not Limited To*
Excellent presence of mind from Kusal Mendis with the run out at the non-striker end. Knew he can't properly throw with the glove on. Turned the other way, took a second to take off the glove and fired in the throw with precision. Top stuff.
Earlier, bowlers used to preload the ball in the knuckles and run with the same grip like a cannon loaded in the barrel. Now we are seeing more bowlers change from normal grip to knuckle ball grip just before the jump, delaying it and adding a bit more surprise to the delivery.
No matter how far this team goes. Even if they mess up at the most crucial time. What these SRH bowlers are doing is just a Dream for a T20 Franchise. One bowler after other, just not letting them breathe.
All Bowlers in form at once, Nightmare for The Opposition.
Don't take what Rohit did lightly. We know about batting in partnerships. But here the way Rohit attacked early on and scored quick runs, allows Kohli to take his time and settle. So even if Rohit & Kohli haven't faced a ball together, that's complimentary batting in spirit.
One of the best t20 games. Ever. Still speechless. His temperament & never give up attitude throughout. Energy & running btw wickets. Entire innings & the emotional 'pointing at the heavens' celebration in the end. Everything about this is giving me goosebumps. Virat Kohli, Mass.
David Warner's intent has not been an issue this IPL- he’s just struggled to find power & timing. Warner's Attack Rating is 171 (3rd highest) while his Timing & Power Ratings are 121 & 48, both lowest among batters who’ve faced >80 balls. This has resulted in low boundary% & SR.
Last year, Warner faced 287 balls & hit 15 sixes. This year he’s already faced 182 balls & is yet to hit a six.
He’s struggled for timing & not connected cleanly when trying to power the ball. Slow surfaces & wickets falling around him have accentuated his struggles.
#IPL2023
Ravi Ashwin playing with two backlifts.
Vs Pacers- Bat Pointing towards Fine Leg. He's swivelling his hands before the shot for momentum(like baseball batters do) and to get the bat come down straight.
Vs Spinners- Bat Pointing towards 1st slip with minimal backlift, staying low.
This is great spot
@irbishi
. He even talked about it in WI V Eng T20I series. Now we have the visual representation too.
So the thing is generally Pollard has an open face grip, when looking to hit big shots his Bottom hand(Right) tightens up closing the bat face.

Wanindu Hasaranga was just moved into that position and almost took a stunner. Brilliant is such an under statement to that effort. He's been electrifying in the field all night.
Tanzim Hasan Shakib has been the fastest bowler tonight, touching 140kph and he's troubling the Indian batters, got Rohit and Tilak wickets. Here's a look at his bowling arm in rotation, before delivery. His Elbow hyperextension might be one of the reasons behind his pace.
Since the last two games everytime Harshal Patel bowls, he goes back to the dugout to wrap his webbing injury & takes it off before every over he bowls, repeat. He even said as he held the ball the injury swells back as the webbing stretches. Absolute Dedication towards the Game.
On the longer side, the deep fielder on the off side has been more square. On the shorter side, the fielder is positioned more towards covers - you will have less ground to cover and cut the angle off compared to longer side. Brilliant from Australia.
