@TerraOrBust
Before you get too excited you should remember that the border is open both ways. That means that the Irish government doesnโt need anyoneโs permission to send anyone to NI. They can just put everyone whoโs refused asylum on a bus or train bound for Belfast๐คฃ
@TerraOrBust
โHow checks can be carried out at the border between the Republic and Northern Ireland remains unclear.โ
What border? The Irish insisted there couldnโt be one so there isnโt one. Hoist by their own petard. Fantastic.
@TerraOrBust
Here's a problem: if it goes to ECtHR, and Ireland isn't allowed to deport asylum seekers to the UK because it's unsafe because Rwanda is unsafe, then it will be impossible for the UK to deport to Rwanda too
@TerraOrBust
So they enter at Dover by dingy, get inside a lorry to Bangor, Liverpool or Stranraer and get the ferry to Belfast and then back in a lorry to their destination in Ireland?
@TerraOrBust
No one cared when they were being dumped on us, but suddenly, it's a massive issue when poor old little Ireland gets a taste of that sweet migrant medicine. ๐
@TerraOrBust
The legal gymnastics on this are going to be fascinating.
What will the EU come up with to police a border that cannot be policed? And why couldn't they have come up with it before?
@TerraOrBust
And just like that, Ireland discovered what it's like to be British in 2024.
Turns out, not nice at all and they didn't like it one bit.
Oh, how the Brits laughed.
@TerraOrBust
@willy_spurs1977
Ireland has the most despicable political and media elite in the western world
Beneath contempt
Of course they try and blame "da Brits"for their own failures
@TerraOrBust
But surely illegal male migrants are of a net benefit to a nation ๐ค I'm sure I've heard that before, why wouldn't Ireland be glad of them ๐ค I would suggest the EU secure it's borders and stop sending them from France.
@TerraOrBust
You insisted on an open border, then seem surprised when people that you don't want simply walk in (but expect others to take illegals from EU countries) Ironic, the Irish that have emigrated all over the world for centuries, object when it works the other way.
@TerraOrBust
Hopefully
@RishiSunak
holds his nerve with Ireland and its master the EU and refuses to accept a single Irish asylum seeker. The EU will close the border again like it did with vaccines ๐๐
@TerraOrBust
How can they police a border that doesn't exist and remember Ireland and the EU made it clear there can be no border checks of any kind as it is against the Belfast agreement or is it once again the rules only apply when used as a stick to hit the UK with
