Proud transfer student to The People’s University For Palestine. Already enjoying my field placement in The Gaza Solidarity Encampment Peer Support Tent 🍉
Among other strong emotions, many students have expressed a profound feeling of loss for the deep sense of community and collective care that is rarely experienced in most of our lives in America but was the norm in the encampment.
This video came up on my FYP and I couldn’t help but cry as I watched it.
This was the Gaza solidarity encampment at Columbia before it was brutally quashed by the NYPD at the request of Columbia uni admin. All this, just so Israel can continue its genocide.
A mostly Black and poor county in Mississippi is the most heavily audited by the IRS.
“The five counties with the highest audit rates are all predominantly African American, rural counties in the Deep South.”
Never felt “we keep us safe” as deeply as seeing NYPD itching to do a sweep of the encampment and backing off again and again over 24+ hours because there’s too many Columbia students making a human wall around it and a crowd of protestors in solidarity outside the campus gates
“Every day of our lives is practice in becoming the person you want to be... No angel is suddenly going to descend upon you, make you brave, courageous, true... And every day that you sit back silent... remember, terrible things are being done in our name.”

Israel has killed more aid workers in the last 6 months than have died in all of the countries in the rest of the world combined in any of the last 30 years
After Israel killed seven aid workers in Gaza, the US says it has not found any incidents of Israel violating international humanitarian law in the past six months.
An Al Jazeera probe concluded the World Central Kitchen vehicles were deliberately hit ⤵️
"You're students and you have a responsibility to see the truth, advocate the truth, not be afraid of it. Thats the least we can ask you to do. After all, you come to seek knowledge. Or for what purposes do you seek knowledge? So you too can learn how to better exploit the poor?"
People from/with ties all over the Global South are having deep painful memories resurfaced by the brutal images and stories coming out of Gaza. We’ve seen all these methods before. But rarely like this: so fast, so precise, so methodical, at industrial scale, all at once.
BREAKING. Some protesters have jumped the gated barrier at Lafayette Park. US Park Police push them back. The White House is behind the US Park Police l & the Secret Service.

“If we were white — if we were Irish, Jews, Poles — Nat Turner would be a hero. If a white man stands up and says, ‘Give me liberty or give me death,’ the whole world applauds. If a black man says the exact same thing, he is treated as a criminal.”

"Palestinian health officials in Gaza said Tuesday that they have lost the ability to count the dead because of the collapse of parts of the enclave’s health system and the difficulty of retrieving bodies from areas overrun by Israeli tanks and troops."
I wish we’d stop calling it fear. It’s not fear. Fear is the post-event justification that follows the script of exoneration. Cops do it all the time. They just want to kill people. They’re very open about it.

i think it's so cool that every CEO at every company suddenly decided exactly five to seven percent of their workforce needed to not work anymore. what a weird coincidence
On this day in 1904, the Herero people began a revolt against the colonizers of German South West Africa. In response, the Germans ordered the killing of every Herero person within the occupied territory, marking the first genocide of the 20th century.
Germany, with its rich history in genocide expertise, will now join as a third party at the International Court of Justice, backing Israel and arguing that "there is no basis for the accusations."
Rashida Tlaib voted today against naming a post office after Madeleine Albright, a woman of Jewish descent. Secretary Albright worked tirelessly for a two-state solution & an independent state of Palestine. So, what exactly is Tlaib's problem w/ Albright?
CCNY and Columbia student protestors reported inhumane conditions in NYC jails. Some were denied food and water for 16 hours or placed in solitary confinement.
Others were beaten by NYPD and taken to the hospital before being returned to central booking.

“Social workers”: white woman appears
“Psychologist”: white man
“Psychiatrists”: Another white man
“Nurses”: Black woman
“And others”: Latina woman in scrubs

Shirley Chisholm stood against police violence and the carceral state. Stood on picket lines and defended prison uprisings.
You just proposed reallocating $43 million earmarked for healthcare and job training to pay police overtime IN THE MIDDLE OF A PANDEMIC AND ECONOMIC CRISIS

And neither is the COVID death toll of parents and grandparent caregivers.
For every 1 white child orphaned, 1.8 Hispanic children, 2.4 Black children and 4.5 Native American children were affected.
The death toll of COVID among children is not equal.
Policies to prevent COVID transmission in schools protect ALL children, families, educators, and communities and especially those that continue to be most impacted by COVID

Abolition and abortion rights and surveillance concerns are the same fight. Anti-abortion laws can’t be enforced without police, without deputized neighbors and healthcare workers/insitutions, without our data being used against us…
Not a coincidence that Columbia University is having listening sessions across all the campuses right now
Guess how well they’re going

Worth saying: This is textbook counterinsurgency. Right out of the field manual. Maintain narrative (in this case the Israel/US pro genocide one) and set up listening sessions to "hear from" the communities your policies are harming. Literally 101 psychological warfare
“The resistance to doing anything meaningful about institutionalized racism stems from the fact that Western society enjoys its luxury from institutionalized racism, and therefore, we’re it to end institutionalized racism, it would in fact destroy itself.” -Kwame Ture
