was killed in a car crash while responding to a call. We ask that you please keep Trooper Gatti, his family and friends in your hearts and prayers during this time.
This exactly why we stress move over! Earlier today one of our troopers was struck by a driver who violated the move over law! Thankfully he will be okay. If you cannot tell what the vehicle is, it is a Ford Explorer.

WE HAVE STEVEN WIGGINS IN CUSTODY! Wiggins was wanted for the murder of Dickson County Sheriff’s Ofc. Sgt. Daniel Baker. Trooper Kevin Burch of the THP Lawranceburg District was the arresting officer. Trooper Burch joined THP in 2017. Wiggins was taken into custody in Hickman CO.
This is Trooper Kevin Burch. He is the trooper who found murder suspect Steven Wiggins. Trooper Burch is 34 years old and is assigned to the THP Lawrenceburg District. He joined the THP January 29, 2017.

We are sad to inform you of the passing of THP K-9 Rico. He was a beautiful nine year old Belgian Malinois. Surgery was performed after a tumor was detected in his abdomen. Unfortunately due to complications he passed. Rico was a tremendous friend & partner. He is deeply missed.

It is with deep sorrow that we inform you we lost one of our own. Trooper Aaron Rumford was tragically killed in an off-duty motor vehicle crash yesterday evening. Aaron exemplified the core values of the THP in all aspects of his life. Please keep Aaron’s family in your prayers.

Today after 33 years, Colonel Dereck R. Stewart, has retired. On his last day in the office he met with his team. In his final official statement he said, “always take care of one another, believe in yourselves but most of all take care of our troopers.” We thank you sir.
It is with a heavy heart we share the following news on the passing of Tennessee Highway Patrol Trooper Roderick Sharp. While in Mississippi Trooper Sharp was struck by a driver who fled the scene and was later located by law enforcement. Please pray for Roderick’s family.

Today was a very proud moment for the current trooper cadets as they received their hat (Campaign Cover) badge. Trooper Cadet Class 618 will be graduating this Friday.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating a double fatality crash involving a school bus and utility service vehicle at 7751 State Highway 58 in Meigs County, Tennessee. More info to come as updates become available. Our thoughts are with all parties involved.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol, Kentucky State Police along with numerous other TN & KY law enforcement agencies escorted the remains of Korean War Veteran PVC Joe Elmore home to Albany, KY. This was an honor for us and we pray that he is now resting peacefully.

Earlier this week Trooper Jeff Fuller had to lay his K-9 partner Max, and family member to rest. It was a hard decision, but trooper Fuller knew that Max would no longer be in pain. Max was diagnosed with throat cancer about 6 months ago and it finally took its toll. RIP Max.
A line of severe storms passed through Tennessee causing major damage to buildings, roads, bridges, utilities & businesses in several counties. Tornado damage reported across Tennessee including Nashville. Do not attempt to cross flooded roadways or downed power lines.

Sgt. Randall Massengill of our CIRT Team died on 1/20/22 after a brief hospital stay due to an off duty medical episode. Sgt. Massengill was a great Trooper and was respected by all, he served his state with dignity.

On June 21st, 2022 Trooper Tudors found this little puppy in a very desperate situation. He rescued her, took her to the vet and then later adopted her on June 29th. We are happy to share that Princess is doing great and loves her forever home with Trooper Tudors.
