history 2/5
Born in Pittsburgh and raised in the Hill District, talent in basketball was a passport to history. Cheyney State is the 1st HBCU in the nation and in 1982 the underrated and unanticipated Lady Wolves went to the first ever NCAA D1 women’s final. Faith was the backup center 3/5
To date Cheyney remains the only HBCU to make a D1 Final Four and Final & Cheyney is one of only 3 schools to have both men’s and women’s coaches in the Basketball Hall of Fame. Faith’s coach was NCAA legend C. Vivian Stringer 4/5
In this SI photo, Faith has a facemask on her head, she told me her nose was broken against Penn State the game prior 🤕
