I just want to take a moment to thank Baltimore Orioles @Orioles coach Einar Diaz for the kind gesture earlier this week toward my son. That baseball you gave him sparked something incredibly positive in him. You never know when one kind gesture can impact a kid in a huge way. =)

Marian Central doing something really classy. It's their senior night, but not only are they honoring their own players. The Hurricane players are greeting Crystal Lake South's seniors as well, with flowers, and honoring them. Never seen that done. Great display of sportsmanship.

I would like to personally thank the doctors and nurses from Advocate Condell, and the paramedics, for saving my father's life last night. He's been in rough shape for a while, but they have him stable and alert in the hospital currently. Thanks for all the support. 🙏❤

Richmond-Burton assistant coach/defensive coordinator Steve Wood was the first coach I ever interviewed for a high school football story. Today, he and his two sons, Dalton and Brock, who both play for R-B, too, are all state champions. Congrats to the Wood family.

And his constant attempts to make even the most routine plays sound like Game 7 of the World Series was a habit he's never grown out of. Great guy, bad PR move, but not the world's best broadcaster.

Fans who attended today's Class 3A Grayslake Central Sectional baseball championship game should be proud. Two great teams, sure. But numerous people told me it was the biggest crowd they'd ever seen at a high school game. It sends a strong message to our kids. It was awesome.

Just had to transport my 73-year-old dad to the hospital in Libertyville. He was alert and speaking to paramedics when they took him. He's had issues for a while, so hoping they can stabilize him and get him back home eventually. Thanks everyone. 🙏❤

I've actually stayed here many times. It's not nearly as bad as he makes it sound. Has a nice restaurant attached. Has an outdoor pool. And last I looked was under $80 a night in February. Some nefarious things at times, but nothing too bad usually. I fish in Fort Pierce a lot.

Seeing confirmed reports that Cary-Grove pitcher Quinn Priester touched 95 MPH several times in his debut. Wow. He throws a really nice change-up too, which is the most underrated pitch in baseball these days, in my opinion.

I was a little kid. I had just come out of surgery at the Naval hospital to have skin cancer removed from my right arm. I was terrified. Dad had two Sox-Yankees tickets waiting in-hand when I woke up. An all-time epic parenting moment. Why am I a Sox fan? That's why. ❤

Even though Marengo softball lost its supersectional today, that program is a dynasty in our area. Make no mistake about it. And every player that's been a part of that team for the past decade-plus is part of that dynasty. That program hangs banners and wins trophies.
