, discovered Pluto 90 years ago today! NASA’s New Horizons spacecraft, led by SwRI, returned the first images of Pluto and its moons, Charon, Nix, Hydra, Styx, and Kerboros, as the spacecraft flew past on July 14, 2015.
NASA recently selected SwRI’s Alan Stern to fly aboard a commercial spaceflight. Read his views about why “human-tended” flights are important to the future of research.
Ride aboard the Juno spacecraft as it flies past Jupiter and its giant moon Ganymede. The spacecraft came to within 645 miles of Ganymede’s surface, making it the first study of the solar system’s largest moon in a generation. Watch the animation here!
