Absolutely crushed to hear of the passing of Jerry Remy. His voice was like comfort food for all of us in Red Sox Nation, in good times and bad. He & Don Orsillo could make even the most unwatchable of games effortlessly entertaining. Godspeed, sir, and thanks for all the smiles.
Eight years ago today this happened. One of the most iconic home runs in Red Sox history and a literal tide-turner in the 2013 ALCS. Audio here is from Dave OโBrienโs classic call on EEI. Put this in the freakin Louvre, itโs beautiful.
OTHER AWESOME TRADES THE RED SOX COULD MAKE:
Xander Bogaerts for Tim Beckham and a couple nice suits
Rafael Devers for a sweet 2020 Toyota Camry
Nathan Eovaldi for some Sonic gift cards
Chris Sale for my Netflix password
JD Martinez for "all the turkey subs"
Well Iโm not the kind to live in the past (the years run too short and the days too fast)โฆ but there was a time when we all waited to watch the Red Sox outfielders dance after each win and it was rather glorious.
Where were you on this day in 2013 when David Ortiz dropped the world's most family-friendly F-bomb, put the whole goddam city of Boston on his shoulders and re-affirmed his status as the guardian of all things right and proper with the world?
Fifteen years ago tonight, the Boston Red Sox won the god damn World Series, and I'm not afraid to call it one of the greatest moments of my life. Where were you when it all went down? Who did you call? What were you drinkin? How do you recognize this holy day of obligation?
There are Red Sox fans at Fenway Park sitting in wet seats and dodging rain drops to watch an out-of-contention team play a delayed game that's in the top of the third inning at 10 o'clock on a Monday night and I am raising my beer to each and every one of them.
Loved this story from Kevin Millar on yesterdayโs Red Sox broadcast: โ[The 2004 players] had littleย ceremony this morningย to give tribute to Tim and Stacy [Wakefield]. And Mike Timlin had every player stand up and he told Brianna and Trevor โLook around. We are your uncles. Weโฆ

October 13, 2013. Ten years ago. Another insane comeback in an era that seemed to be defined by insane Red Sox comebacks. Once again, David Ortiz threw us all on his shoulders and somehow made the unbelievable seem oddly believable. Clutch defined.
It's Friday morning. It's October. The sun is rising. The air is crisp. The beer is chilling. And the Boston Red Sox are in the ALCS, which starts tonight.
These are magical days, people. May we never take them for granted.
Sad to hear of the passing of Julio Lugo, member of the 2007 World Champion Boston Red Sox. Tomorrow would've been his 46th birthday. Raise a glass for him tonight.
Crushed by the news of Tim Wakefield's passing. He was a critical (and versatile) cog in many a Red Sox team and, more importantly, a stand-up dude with a gregarious attitude who did whatever was asked of him, no matter how menial. Wake was one of the great ones. This one hurts.
I think a fitting salute to the Red Sox at tonight's Pats game would be Steve Pearce doublefisting Bud Lights while parachuting into Gillette, into the waiting arms of David Price, while Joe Kelly recites the rules for Fight Club over the PA and the rest of the team crowdsurfs.
We must never forget that on this date in 2018, the Legend of Nathan Eovaldi was born. Six innings of relief in the longest freakin World Series game ever.
As Terry Francona wraps up a brilliant managerial career, I look back on one moment from his time in Boston thatโs indelibly woven into my brain: his tearful embrace of Jon Lester after Jonโs no hitter at Fenway. I canโt watch it without tearing up myself.
A sad but magic moment when the Red Sox players stayed on field to salute the great Don Orsillo after he called his last game in the NESN booth. Highlighted by Allen Craig coming out last minute only to realize... he was too late.
On Oct. 18, 2007 the Indians thought they could get in Josh Beckettโs head by having his ex-GF sing the National Anthem before game 5 of the ALCS. They were wrong. He struck out 11 & the Red Sox rolled through this game and the next two to take the series.
6 years ago tonight, the Red Sox won the World Series at Fenway. If 2004 will always be the favorite child, 2013 is a close second. The beards, Ortiz, Lester, Koji, Hunter's legs, "everything's gonna be alright" & some gutsy Lackey outings. That was a friggin AWESOME postseason.
Ten years ago tonight, on October 30, 2013, the Red Sox won the World Series.
I will always hold the 2004 Sox in the highest regard. That team took us somewhere we never thought weโd go.
But that 2013 team is a close second for giving our city everything when we needed it most.
My Dad saw the Red Sox win it all in 2004, then passed in 2006. Tonight, at first pitch, I'll raise a glass to him, and to all those long gone, who may not be with us on the couch or in the stands, but are always there in spirit. Slรกinte.

With Dennis Eckersley announcing his NESN retirement at the end of this season, it seems only fitting to revisit perhaps his greatest-ever rant: a response to Wade Miley throwing a fit after being taken out by John Farrell.
We must honor the day Eck gave us
