Official campaign account of Allegheny Co. District Attorney Stephen A. Zappala, Jr. • Mary’s husband and raising 4 sons • Acc. is managed by campaign staff
My family & I are honored by the support and prayers of so many. Being your District Attorney is an honor of a lifetime and I would be humbled by your vote. I said in May this campaign was just at halftime. Tomorrow we win a victory for safety and the rule of law in our county
Today I demonstrated the breadth of support that I have from local labor organizations, businesses and individuals in and around Allegheny County.
We raised over 600k from donors with ties and interests in our community.
I am honored by the support of the brave men and women of law enforcement. They have been a consistent partner with my office. Read in their own words why they know Dugan can’t be trusted- Thread 1/5
Matt Dugan is dressing up for Halloween as someone who gives a damn about victims rights. He’s always been on the side of the accused criminal. That won’t change if he’s the District Attorney. Don’t be fooled.
We all have different signs in our offices. Matt Dugan's and mine couldn't be more different.
George Soros' PAC has spent $1.1 million against me so far in the last 2 months. Can you help me keep up and keep this ad on the air? Chip in here:
With unstable leadership in City Hall ….now is not the time for Allegheny County to take a chance on an unproven and unpredictable district attorney. To keep a steady hand at the helm in rough waters, voters should retain Stephen Zappala as top prosecutor.
We would love to bring .
@ChristianYelich
in for questioning regarding this incident. How’s 7:05 tonight sound?
I’m sure the
@Pirates
would miss you, but justice must be served…
#LetsGoBucs
Christian Yelich did a practice round for the Home Run Derby at PNC Park today with former Marlins coach Pat Shine. He broke the window of a boat parked in the Allegheny River outside right field. Cops were called, Yelich was not arrested. 😂
We all have different signs in our offices. Matt Dugan's and mine couldn't be more different.

A great night at Acrisure with friends and family. Over 150 supporters from across the political spectrum came together to support my campaign and I’m so humbled. A Steeler’s legend, business leaders & the trades unions and Democrat & Republicans- we are working together to win!
Former State and Allegheny County Democratic Chairman Jim Burn offered his analysis on the race for District Attorney and my stand for enforcing the law in the City of Pittsburgh on Stacy Smith’s Around the Table on KDKA:
Full clip here:
A group of activists are protesting my recent statements on the remedies I have at my disposal to ensure the laws of the city of Pittsburgh are being followed. Here is my statement.
Ladies and gentlemen of Allegheny County, today I have the privilege to announce that I was endorsed by The Allegheny County Democratic Committee.
We couldn’t continue to make Allegheny County one of the most livable Counties in the entire country without your support.
Thank you
Laura Ditka was a relentless advocate for child victims and the consummate example of what a public servant can do to make the world a better place. She will missed and we send our deepest condolences to her family and friends
It is with the heaviest of hearts that we honor the memory of former Deputy DA Laura Ditka who died unexpectedly. Her legacy is all the child victims and their families who are better off today because of her. She was an extraordinary public servant and person and a loving mom.
This morning we had the opportunity to discuss ways to enhance public safety in both Butler & Allegheny Counties.
Thank you to
@DbsmithjrPA12
for gathering the local leaders and police chiefs.
It’s important for us to work together to protect our children and communities
Had a chance to hang out with some of the bravest men and women in the city today. Thank you to
@PghFFLocal1
for all that you do and to Cupka’s Cafe for hosting a great afternoon
#UnionStrong
Matt Dugan's message to victims? Shut up...Why did the Allegheny Public Defender's office filed an amicus brief opposing the rights of victims of sexual assault to testify? This action is disqualifying for anyone wanting to be the chief prosecutor of Allegheny County.
Today we mark 5 years since the Tree of Life Synagogue massacre. 11 people senselessly killed while they were praying. I’ll never forget that day.
May their memories be a blessing to their families and may we honor their lives by our actions.
Proud to be one of the first district attorneys in the country to take a stand for the women of our county. It has been an honor to fight for the rights of every person living in Allegheny County and I vow to continue that fight every day
Great night last night in Aspinwall for the
#nationalnightout
. Congratulations to Mayor Noro,
@JoeHughesDC57
and the rest of the Aspinwall community for bringing our neighbors closer together
I would like to take this opportunity to extend my sincerest gratitude to all of the voters of Allegheny County!
Thank you for giving me another four years!
We wouldn’t be able to continue to make great progress without you!

& all of our friends with the Allegheny-Fayette Central Labor Council for their unwavering support.
I would not be in the position that I am today without your continued friendship

One of the best events of the year is Bloomfield’s Little Italy Days. Enjoyed seeing old friends and eating the delicious food. Can’t wait until next summer’s festivities
This campaign is special. We proved that belief in true justice for all transcends party. Democrats, Republicans, and Independents all knocked, called, donated, and delivered signs and literature from one end of the county to the other. I'm humbled by what we built together.
On the gridiron or in the courthouse, Pittsburghers know the key to winning is to work hard, stay humble, and grind.
Great to run into the Steeler's own Devlin Hodges tonight at Cupka's Cafe 2. Good luck in LA on Sunday, Duck!
FACT: Matt Dugan doesn't have a single day of experience as a prosecutor. He chose to represent the people you elect the District Attorney to prosecute.
It was a honor speaking to the Mt. Lebanon Democratic Committee tonight
Some of the many topics that we had a chance to discuss include school safety, bail reform & the future of marijuana laws
Incredible crowd last night in Homestead at the Homestead Slavs Social Club. A lot of energy to stop our county being overrun by an extremist like Matt Dugan as District Attorney.
Today, we honor the men and women who served our country with strength, dignity, and courage. Their sacrifices affect each and every one of us.
Let's repay our debt of gratitude to these brave Americans by working harder than ever to support our region's veterans.
This is what I’ve been talking about. The lack of enforcement from this administration is hurting the city. These encampments are a terrible welcome to the city of Pittsburgh.
Matt Dugan allowed a pervasive anti-police attitude to fester. Dugan demonstrated his disrespectful leadership with a sign that hung in the Public Defender’s Office that said: F*** the Police. We can’t allow that attitude to infect the District Attorney’s office. 5/5
Last night I had the honor of meeting some of the most talented high school kids in Western PA.
These students created viral videos for a contest held by the FBI and the Penguins Foundation to help combat the stigma of opioid addiction.
Us too Ms. Logan. Us too…
She was also struck by a sign that one of Mr. Dugan’s aides in the public defender’s office had on their desk, which read, “F— the Police.”
“It left me with my mouth open,” she said.
Thank you very much to the Wilkinsburg and 13th ward committees for being such wonderful hosts this morning.
I received fantastic input on how to further strengthen and secure these areas from the people that know their communities best.
I'm proud to have helped build a justice system that prioritizes the protection of our most vulnerable residents - and that commitment extends to our four-legged friends.
RETWEET if you agree our justice system should give voice to the voiceless among us.
It was an honor to return to Edgewood and Swissvale earlier today for their committee meetings. I had the great fortune of growing up in this area.
An added bonus was running into Mindy, who played a big role in raising me to become the man that I am today.
I would like to thank Councilman Anthony Coghill - the chair of the 19th ward, for being a wonderful host. I was ecstatic to have the opportunity to see many of my friends from Wards 16-20, as well as Wards 28-32.
Theses areas have been very supportive.
Thank you very much
Matt Dugan allowed a "F the Police" sign hang in the public defender's office. That's the kind of environment he fostered in that office. It's appalling.
DA Zappala briefs the media and the public on an expansion of cameras in central Oakland to increase safety for Pitt students living in off campus housing.
I had the honor of presenting an award at the Amen Corner Senator John Heinz Law Enforcement Awards. It was humbling to be in the presence of these servants and protectors of our community.
Matt Dugan repeats vague assurances and lame platitudes to hide his radical agenda. I won’t let him hide his agenda. I won’t let him destroy our region.
Mayor Bob O’Connor’s first objective as mayor was to make Pittsburgh one of the most livable cities in the country and he accomplished just that.
I’d personally like to say thank you to Judy and Corey O'Connor for all that they do to carry on Bob’s legacy
God bless you, Bob!
I was so honored to receive the endorsement of the Allegheny-Fayette Central Labor Council on Friday. Our nation’s working families built the foundation of this country and have been working to make it better ever since.
Thank you to the ACLC and all of the working families!
I’m proud of my record as your District Attorney. Every year for the last 10 years, my team has removed 2 tons of drugs from our streets and destroyed 3 tons of illegal guns and weapons. That’s real results!
Zappala has quietly proven himself to be a successful, & balanced, reformer. The AGH County diversionary courts — Drug Court, Mental Health Court & Veterans Court — which offer treatment & social services…, have become models for other jurisdictions
Come down to the Democratic Committee Endorsement today at the IBEW Local 5!
Grab a Button, some food, and spend some time with friends.
Thank you to all the Democratic Committee members who have already come out to vote!
A huge thank you to Michael Bartley and the 15th Ward Dems for taking the time to have a discussion about criminal justice and the upcoming elections
#BlueWave
Had a great afternoon at the
@seaddemocrats
picnic. Great to see all of our friends and family working to support Democratic candidates. Thank you to all the volunteers and organizers that made the picnic a success
It's always nice when you get to campaign in your own backyard!
Thank you to the Fox Chapel Democratic Committee for hosting a wonderful discussion about our criminal justice system
Had a great time this morning with Mary McGinley & friends for her 42nd Senatorial district breakfast.
Mary is one of the best people we know and will make a fantastic
Court of Common Pleas judge.
Thank you to all those who attended her event this morning!
The way to properly effect change on this issue, is to lobby the state and get overwhelming support for Rep. Dan Frankel's effort to undue the state law, eliminate this big government effort to control local municipalities and give them the freedom to self govern.
Former Democratic Chairman and Attorney Jim Burn had the following to say about my options regarding the city Pittsburgh to Stacy Smith of KDKA on Around the Table.
Dugan turned an office that provides an important function for the judicial system into an activist workplace that has attacked police & attempted to silence the victims of crimes. 2/5
Being convicted of a crime is a life-changing situation, and for low-level charges, an individual’s interaction with our justice system shouldn’t consign them to a life of social stigma, limited job prospects, and potential poverty.
When you work in the criminal justice system, you have to walk the walk - not just talk the talk. Protecting the victims of crime is a responsibility I've always embraced.
Today, I'm honored to receive the Guardian of Victim's Rights award from the
@Center4Victims
.
I’ve worked hard to build a justice system that protects AND empowers us - and it’s time to take that message to every corner of our county.
Help us spread the word at .
Yesterday the Tube City Center opened at the historic Daily News Building in downtown McKeesport
I would like to say thank you to Mayor Cherepko and Sen. Brewster for all of their hard work in making this project a success
Today, as we mourn the anniversary of the Tree of Life massacre, let us recommit to protecting our neighbors, reaffirm our common dignity, and, above all, remember the 11 lives torn from us by forces we must work harder than ever to defeat.
.
@RepDanFrankel
bill is absolutely the right way to do what Pittsburgh City Council wants to accomplish. PA state law prohibits local municipalities from enacting their own gun legislation.
Dugan symbolized his contempt for law enforcement through that sign in his public office that said: F*** the Police. Any doubts about how Matt Dugan would run the District Attorney’s Office were put to rest with that sign. 4/5
“I think that the district attorney race in Allegheny County is clearly on the side of incumbent Democrat Stephen Zappala on the GOP ticket”
“voters in Allegheny county see public safety and law enforcement as a non partisan issue.
-Jim Burn, fmr PA Democratic Chairman
I’m pleased to share that the Allegheny-County Central Labor Council has just overwhelmingly endorsed our campaign!
It’s an honor to receive the continued support of so many of our region’s working families who share our goal of building a more just, fair, and equitable county.
Tonight's the last night before county campaign finance reports are due. This is our last shot to show we've got the momentum in this race.

But it is Stephen Zappala who is most likely to deliver that balance. The Post-Gazette endorses him for Allegheny County District Attorney.

I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to the McCandless Democratic Committee for hosting such a wonderful event last night at Sieb's Pub & Restaurant.
This was a great opportunity to get input from the voters on the issues that matter to everyone.
We're making Protection from Abuse Orders (PFAs) quicker and easier to obtain for survivors like Wendy by introducing rapid video-conferencing into our system - saving valuable time and easing the burden on those recovering from abuse.
Allegheny County has always been a statewide leader in supporting victims and safeguarding their rights. Now, it's time to take our success statewide. Stand with me and add your voice to our call for passage of Marsy's Law at .
