didn’t back down from any challenge that came his way. But when his leg was shattered in the Octagon in 2021, he was tested like never before.

Chris Weidman: The Return
Thrilled to unveil this film!
(Note new time)
I had a conversation with Alex Smith today and, well, I hope you’ll read this:
Washington QB Alex Smith cleared for full football activity after broken leg
I can’t recommend this enough. The interview with Dr. Fauci is one of the best I’ve heard. Filled with facts, dispels the myths and gives practical info you can use immediately. Congrats, guys. You’ve done an excellent public service with this. 👏👏👏
PMT 3/18 feat Dr. Anthony Fauci is live
- TB12 no longer a Patriot, Bill O’Brien has no idea what he’s doing + all other NFL Free agency News
- Dr Anthony Fauci joins us to discuss the novel corona virus and what we can do to help stop its spread

I loved that Patriots-Chiefs game. But, I was glued to the sound thanks to Tony Romo. He proves it IS possible to educate and entertain at the same time...all with the enthusiasm of every fan of the game.
Let me clarify something.
An adult with power bullying and shaming children - particularly children who are behaving respectfully - is not acceptable. Shouldn’t be acceptable to anyone.
Just watch Courtland Sutton plant and break to the inside off his left leg, the one in which he tore his ACL. That is what confidence in your reconstructed knee looks like, placing dynamic stress on the graft, relying on neuromuscular coordination. 👏

I’m a HUGE Niners fan. This is not news.
Neither is the fact that I’m also a
@minakimes
devotée (forgive her Yale affiliation).
These are not mutually exclusive.
She is perhaps the most brilliant addition to NFL coverage on any network and any other take is, well, wrong.
NFL EVP Health and Safety Jeff Miller says the Emergency Action Plan (EAP) that each team rehearses annually in advance of the season worked as designed tonight.
As part of that plan, there is an airway management physician on-site, an ambulance at each stadium and…
Tom Brady talking with media just now saying his son plays fantasy football and was upset last night b/c his team is projected to lose this week. At which point Brady tells him not to worry, those projections don’t mean anything.
(Ouch,
@MikeClayNFL
😂)
I will say this. Outstanding medical staff in Kansas City...as evidenced in particular by their recent management of Tyreek Hill’s unusual but serious injury.
@proatc
and crew will have Mahomes on an excellent program to get him back to full health.
Real q. Why is the guy they keep showing on sideline, drying the footballs, standing out in the rain? Why not under a hood/tent/umbrella? Because, stay with me, the towels he’s using - for drying - ARE SOAKING WET! What am I missing?
Chargers RB Austin Ekeler announced on his IG that he tested positive again today for COVID and therefore couldn’t travel with team; he’s out for tomorrow.
I spoke w/Dr. Thomas Byrd, hip specialist in Nashville; he was independent evaluator for Tua’s medical recheck. 3 things struck me:
1) his x-rays looked “pristine”
2) CT scan of right hip joint space mirrors the left
3) “looks as good as (he’s) ever seen 5 mos out” post-injury
Definitely not ideal. But you can see the medical staff “re-locate” the patella (kneecap) here. As with anything dislocated, restoring normal position immediately decreases pain. Further Imaging to determine full extent of injury (associated soft tissue, etc). More to come.
@minakimes
Fact. I have on multiple occasions walked by my own room and circled the floor, phoned a friend or delivered the out loud comment to myself (but not really to myself),”oh damn, I forgot to stop back by the front desk” followed by getting back into elevator for an extra ride...
Waking up this morning overwhelmed by the reaction to our
@E60
piece,
#Project11
. Filled with gratitude for your kind words. 🙏
If you missed it, it re-airs today on ESPN2 at 10 am ET and 6 pm ET, also on ESPN2 Sunday at 11 pm ET, immediately following

For all those saying Tua shouldn’t play the rest of the year, what exactly would be your criteria for him returning…ever? I mean, why does an offseason make a difference? What’s the “right” timeframe? Since science doesn’t have a definitive answer, I’m genuinely curious.
Elizabeth Smith is the hero who doesn’t wear a cape. Her ability to navigate an unthinkable time with grace and calm - all while keeping her kids’ lives as normal as possible - is what we all hope we’d do...but aren’t sure we could.
Her story:
This is terrific. A true teammate who recognizes the contributions of every player and understands all the nuances of the game. Can’t wait to see
@JasonWitten
doing more of the same in the booth on Monday nights.
Happy Birthday to
@MatthewBerryTMR

I just call him my friend.

Congrats on another trip around the sun!
Today I spoke with the two surgeons who know Tua and his hip better than anyone: Dr. Chip Routt and Dr. Lyle Cain. They’re optimistic not only now but for the future.
Robinson with double digit fantasy points in the first half. Imagine that. If only there had been a season of evidence to show the Jags staff just how talented James Robinson is.
Real q.
Rule says: Don’t do X.
Player does X.
Ref calls penalty.
Complaining ensues b/c no warning was given before calling penalty.
If everyone is in agreement that the rule is the rule, why is it required to warn in advance that a penalty will be called for breaking rule?
I am so impressed with
@LauraRutledge
. Mom of a toddler (who makes great 🏈 picks btw), host of a daily NFL show and a weekend college football show, crisscrosses country during holidays going seamlessly between events. Oh, and she’s one of the nicest people you’ll ever meet.

@LauraRutledge

games on Jan 8 w/ Chris Fowler and Kirk Herbstreit.
On NFL call this evening, Dr. Jim Ellis, NFL Director of Emergency Preparedness, shared a particular tweak made to the NFL EAP this year. Last year Ellis was attending the Euros at Wembley, the same tournament where Christian Eriksen suffered Sudden Cardiac Arrest.
Congrats to QB Alex Smith on his first win since suffering his devastating leg injury two years ago, proving dreams (with a lot of hard work behind them) really do come true.

The last 2 weeks have been a whirlwind and my response to the wonderful messages I’ve received is long overdue but no less heartfelt.
I’m simultaneously honored, humbled, grateful and excited. ESPN took a chance on me years ago and I’m thrilled we’re still on this ride together.
Chat with taxi driver in Green Bay:
Driver: “So many people in town. Surprised you got a room.”
Me: “Work plans ahead.”
D: “Yeah, this time every year lots of women show up here alone.”
Me: 😳
(awkward silence)
D: “You’re here for the air show, right?
Me: “There’s an air show?”
…a Level 1 trauma center in each city. All medical personnel (team and independent) and game officials also meet an hour before kickoff to coordinate and review the plan.
I’ve watched this three times. And I’ll watch it again. The raw emotion - as the words are expressed and as they are received - is palpable and genuine. Thank you,
@KirkHerbstreit
.
Appreciation tweet: Mike Tirico knows details matter. During that shot of Heinicke being evaluated on the sideline he names Washington head orthopedic surgeon and head athletic trainer and their titles, all while describing what is happening.
@SuzyKolber
Heartbreaking indeed. You should absolutely be proud, Suzy. Without you leading the way with your work ethic and your professionalism, there aren’t nearly as many women who get the chance to be a part of NFL coverage. I count myself among them.
Wishing you all the best.
Kyle Shanahan speaking to reporters today about the recovery timetable for TE George Kittle (foot fracture): “I think they told me eight weeks. Kittle says two, but that’s how he rolls.”
Kittle is the best.
After 2 weeks of multiple health screens and asking everyone to quarantine, I surprised my closest inner circle with a trip to a private island where we could pretend things were normal just for a brief moment in time.
Per source: Dak Prescott’s lat strain was completely unrelated to his ankle. He has had zero setbacks and remains on track with a progressive throwing program designed to increase volume of work. Will be full go for Week 1 contest, Sept 9th.
Chubb went to the hospital after his injury indicating there were initial concerns about the structural integrity of his knee. If he could sustain such a violent injury yet have so many structures remain intact, that’s also a testament to his prior surgical repair…and, him.
Wow. Millman defeats Federer in a stunner at the U.S. Open, then says in post-match interview (at 1 a.m) that he’d better get some sleep because he has a fantasy football draft at 7 a.m...😂
How’s that for
#fantasylife
@MatthewBerryTMR
?
@CourtneyRCronin
This answer is so sincere and so pure. I hope that gets noticed and people don’t just pile on him for the drop. We want players to be honest in answering q. He was…and he’ll learn from it. Hopefully people show some grace.
DeAndre Hopkins is a ridiculous talent.
Every year he believes he is the best WR in the league. It is a perpetual FF debate when it comes to which WR to draft first. Some say what about Mike Evans, Michael Thomas?
Availability, opportunity...plus the skills? Give me Hopkins.
I’m just sick about Nick Chubb’s injury. He’s already returned from a multi-ligament knee injury to HIGHER level of performance (NFL vs college), a rare accomplishment. And he hasn’t been average; he’s been among the best in the league. Sending him all the good recovery vibes.❤️
@AdamSchefter
What IS a “cultural fit” if it isn’t someone who is excellent at her job, widely respected and does what is in the best interest of the team and players, while still engaging positively and professionally with the media?
On this day annually we honor and celebrate all who have served our great nation. But every day I celebrate this particular veteran, my recently-turned-90-year-old dad, who is my forever hero.

Look, we’re all going to have to learn to live, function and adapt in the presence of this virus. Given that we don’t know everything about how it behaves, there will be a perpetual learning curve with constantly updated information.
Sports is no different. But at least TRY.
“There were no social distancing measures observed at the matches in either country and Djokovic and other players were seen hugging each other...”
Also from Djokovic, “Unfortunately, this virus is still present...”
You don’t say.
Recent news on positive COVID-19 tests in NHL, MLB, NWSL, MLS serves as a reminder that this virus is still very much present. The conversation for sports leagues centers on mitigating (not eliminating) risk and managing situations as they arise. League protocols remain fluid.

We will miss you. But as your work wife/health advisor, I insist that you rest up, hydrate and focus on getting better. Zero hustling.
I’ll throw out a Raheem Must-Start tomorrow in your honor. 😬
Nice article on how

grew the fantasy football business at

Confirmed, per source, Chiefs WR Tyreek Hill had a posterior SC (sternoclavicular) dislocation which was successfully reduced in the hospital. No surgery required. He will stay overnight.
Happy Birthday,
