We fully support Nick’s decision to turn down the PEN/DAU Short Story Prize. We are grateful to have contributors who act upon their beliefs & conscience. Split Lip Magazine calls for an immediate ceasefire and an end to the genocide of Palestinians.
In solidarity with 1300+ protesting authors I declined the PEN/DAU Prize.
@PENamerica

Our colleagues
@GburgReview
have received some devastating news. It’s alarming for the literary community as a whole, & the SLM fam encourages everyone to voice their thoughts to the university that defunded them. All of our voices matter! See below for more info & context 🧵
We've been thinking about what we can do to better promote Black voices here at SLM. As a first step, we're going to open free submissions to Black writers for the rest of the year.
Hey everyone. We’ll be back with regular tweets soon, but we wanted to check in. Remember that you don’t have to doomscroll—it’s okay to take some time away from the news. Also, it’s more than okay if you’re not writing right now! 💗

is stepping down from the mag. On the bright side, she's still writing and publishing TONS of incredible work. We can't wait to read more & more & more. Help us thank her!
We know that many of you are upset by our memoir editor’s comments. We apologize for that. We appreciate all submissions, tip jar or otherwise, & your decision to use the tip jar doesn’t factor in our decision, ever. (1/2)
It doesn't matter whether you write 2 words, or 20 words, or 200 words, or 2000 words—you're writing, and that's a wonderful thing.
(And you know what? If you're not writing, that's okay, too. There's a lot going on right now.)
