Hello, 2024! We're excited at
@trustfundvc
for the new year ahead as we continue to eagerly embrace the opportunity to support best in class founders. ⚡
To kick off the new year, I'm sharing a refresher on our focus.
Trust Fund is an early-stage venture fund focused…
Today marks the debut of Trust Fund, my $5 million venture fund. I'm raising in public with what's called a 506(c) election, which means anyone (you!) can apply to be an LP. I'm taking checks from $2,000 to $20,000.

Classes I wish were taught in high school:
- How to have difficult conversations
- Reading a P&L
- Keyboard shortcuts
- Negotiation
- Networking
- Using debt to your advantage
- How to maintain a house/car/human body
- That you're not weird, they're just boring
What did I miss?
Jezebel is shutting down.
I’ll never forget the time the then editor-in-chief hacked into my password-protected wedding registry and published it the week of my wedding, shaming me for having one at all.
I've been quiet for far too long re: the unfair slaughtering of female founders and "girlboss culture."
I did my best. I wrote a book that inspired the 500k+ readers who bought it.
Countless editors have reached out to me asking for comment.
What does it mean that I literally do not want to travel, party, hang, “catch up”, network, or “grab a coffee”? And I’m happy. The glamour of being a founder is so far behind me. I want to eat my baked sweet potato at home, kay?
Girlbossed too close to the sun. It took me 15 years to realize I'm a 0-1 founder. Seeking retroactive forgiveness to have tried anything else but fuck it was so fun.
To the founders whose companies are on fire and wiping out early investors right now: don't post your vacay pics.
Your team is watching, your investors are watching, and we want to know you understand the gravity of this event.
I made this mistake once & regret it.
Where did we go?
Many of us will hide in the shadows and play small forever for fear of further slaughter while pervert and fraudster dudes raise their next seed round from college cronies.
How in the world is it acceptable to pit and rank female founders against one another?
I appreciate and often envy those who choose to build a business with their head down — focus is important, and we don’t all need to be on the radar — but to explicitly dissuade female…
Last week
@theinformation
suggested that their readers dress up as “their favorite disgraced girlboss” for Halloween, suggesting me,
@Audreygelman
and Elizabeth Fucking Holmes as examples..
Basically, they were trying to make fun of me.
These days everyone wants to be the CEO of something. It sounds sexy. But let me tell you from the other side: it’s not. It’s a tease. If being a CEO were a company, I’d give it a Glassdoor rating of 0.
Starting to write my next book. Would love to hear what you'd want to read! Failure? Struggle? Divorce? Your 30s? Starting businesses? Confidence? What else?
We're recruiting TWO engineers to join us at Girlboss to build a digital membership network for professional women. Currently in beta, you'll join a small team of solid engineers, product designers, and a stellar VP of Product. Email jimmy

Writing the next book. Need some advice: how to write about “failure” and “resilience” w/o becoming the poster child for failure? Bc guess what I’m thriving
The universe is like a boomerang: you get back what you put out. Think positively and focus on visualizing what you want instead of getting distracted by what you don’t.
Rookie move: introducing me to someone I didn’t opt-in to be introduced to.
You’re essentially putting something on my to do list without my permission.
Introductions are only a viable currency when they’re welcome 🤗
