- Duncan insulting Rusty despite becoming friends in Rock 'n' Roll.
- According to NWTom25, this was where the "no coal makes engine stop" thing came from even though it was used before in Escape!
- Duncan's driver being an idiot.

Rusty to the Rescue is fine. It's just the narration that is messed up. Like it should not take all day for Rusty to get to the Vicarstown Goods Depot.
@TywynWharf2002
I for one always loved “Rusty to the Rescue,” regardless if it was intended to be nothing more than a sequel to “Escape.” “Rusty and the Boulder” really brought out the suspense for me. “Rusty Saves the Day” and “Trusty Rusty” however I never liked
@TywynWharf2002
Well rusty and the boulder is not at all, the bottom two are just bad episodes and in rusty to the rescue brit not only through out logic in having a narrow gauge line to the mainland but also disregarded the gender of rusty to make him gender fluid which they only did for one ep
@TywynWharf2002
Rusty and the Boulder, Rusty to the Rescue, and Trusty Rusty were good in my opinion. But Rusty Saves the Day makes Sir Topham Hatt not caring about the bad condition that the Skarloey Railway was in. And I don't why that has unexpectedly happened.
@TywynWharf2002
The only one I dislike is "Rusty Saves the Day".
"Trusty Rusty" is a bit weird given Duncan's personality, but it's not that bad.
"Rusty and the Boulder" is very unrealistic, but if we ignore realism it's such a great episode with plenty of suspense and drama (like most of S5).
