Dallas Wings draftee Carla Leite and her team win their first playoff game, 87-69.
Leite with 21 PTS, 3 REB, 6 AST, 4 STL (5-11 shooting, 1-4 from three, 10-11 FT). awesome game from her with high stakes. will post some clips below ⬇️
one of my favorite Richard Lewis clips from Curb. Richard’s girlfriend tells him she’s decided to get breast reduction surgery after seeing a doctor about a mole that Larry pointed out. “this isn’t algebra, this is my life” is so funny
incredible media training here. told everyone “yeah can’t believe that bozo didn’t call a timeout” while pretending to take ownership himself. this clip should be studied by public relations schools across the globe
Kyrie Irving yelled, “There you go!” Maxi Kleber gave a look of pleasant surprise. Tim Hardaway Jr. belted, “We got a fucking squad now.” And before Luka Doncic hit the locker room door, ex-NBA star Dirk Nowitzki hugged him & said, “Y’all look so different.”
The NBA on TNT broadcast said that Luka Doncic said that he hangs out with Kyrie Irving "all the time" and said they go out on "long dinners" together.
Their chemistry continues to grow on and off the floor.
scientists have crunched the numbers and determined this is the coolest anyone has ever looked. “we didn’t think this was fucking possible, he destroyed our model,” said one source.
Kemba Walker joins the exclusive “former All-Stars the Mavs tried to sign years ago and ended up getting after they’re cooked” club alongside the likes of Deron Williams and DeAndre Jordan
most of this game was pure torture. Eovaldi getting out of jam after jam. the Rangers getting no-hit as they went quickly in order. it was the most stressful experience. i hated every second of it. and then, they broke through. and it’s impossible to describe that joy and ecstasy
Maxi Kleber takes a lot of shit from this fanbase, myself included. he can be a maddening player to watch on offense. but he showed tonight why he's so valuable to what the Mavs do. his versatility and tenacity on defense won them the game. he played so, so hard. deserves respect
Dorian Finney-Smith is that dude. in the most important games, he shows the fuck up and delivers. we don’t have a prayer of winning that game without him. he’s one of my favorite players of all time and i hope we see his jersey in the rafters one day.
Luka Doncic shot 7-25. Dallas shot 9-34 from three. and the Mavericks led by double digits the entire second half. in a playoff game.
imagine someone telling you that would happen just 4 months ago. we’ve come so, so far
we survived Shai. their
#1
option in Ant isn’t as scary, especially with our rim defense. gonna force him to take the shots SGA was hitting. they play 2 non-shooters almost all the time. we can guard these guys. it’s gonna be a war but Mavs in 6 and i’m fairly confident in that
i’m really proud of of Luka Doncic. didn’t make any excuses for his subpar play. took on the challenge and delivered a masterpiece when his team needed it the most. gutty performance
also: stop trying to rationalize letting Jalen Brunson go. pay that man his money. he’s an integral part of what this team does and we cannot replace him!
when the Rangers finally win a World Series i’m gonna break down and sob for hours. all of the pain they’ve put me through will be worth it. there hasn’t been a more tortured fan base in sports
it’s so funny that Hardy had his best 3-game strength of the year and immediately got banished from the rotation while Tim has been the most harmful player in the league for 2 weeks
don’t even care about Luka getting a tech the man was tackled on back-to-back plays with no call and Jason Kidd is standing around thinking about what he’s gonna eat after the game
7-game win streak
tiebreaker over the Suns
back in the top 6
PJAIL continuing to collect inmates
Kyrie writing basketball poetry
Luka 41-point masterclass
the Dallas Mavericks have never been more back
50-6-14-4-3 on 14-25 shooting, 8-16 from three, 12-12 from the line. got the W on the road on national TV without his co-star. if anyone else is your MVP you aren’t watching.
this team is so poorly coached. no discipline, no attention to detail, no discernible scheme. the players aren’t blameless but man at a certain point the guy in charge of this stuff has to be held responsible
the plan? spread the Omicron variant around the NBA so that the Dallas Mavericks are forced to upgrade their roster by signing a bunch of replacement players to 10-day contracts
Kyle Kuzma: “i want to be either an empty stats merchant collecting fake All Stars or on an established championship team where there’s no pressure on me”
Grant Williams: “the Mavs had faith in my talent and i shit all over myself every chance i got and now i’m mad”
ESPN:
it’s so bizarre to me that, despite the compete lack of defense in today’s NBA, someone has scored 73 points against the Atlanta Hawks only once this season
Christian Wood has to be “unselfish” to clear the way for the JaVale McGees of the world but Tim and Reggie are allowed to chuck bricks into oblivion playing 25+ minutes a night
Tim bricks a 30-footer instead of swinging it to the guy with a million points in the quarter and Indiana gets a wide open three on the other end SEND HIM TO MARS
the game getting away from them this much has to be on Kidd. they needed their coach to calm things down, stick up for the guys, and reset. instead, Kidd is just standing around. he doesn’t manage these kinds of situations well and he’s not a good enough tactician to compensate
Luka gets the W with a 40-point triple double on great shooting with his entire supporting cast in the hospital but i’m supposed to be moved by what the foul merchant in Philly is doing against the Pistons and Hornets
thinking back on Chandler Parsons’s Maverick career and how weird people were about him. it didn’t work out here cuz of injuries but when he was healthy he was really, really good. and by all accounts a great teammate and wanted to be here. legend in my eyes
Luka Doncic on the importance of being vocal about roster moves: "You can see how important it is. You can see the impact [Daniel Gafford and P.J. Washington] have, so I think it's really important."
same issues as all year:
-Luka doesn’t take opponent serious, let’s refs throw him off
-nothing from the Bang Bros
-don’t know how to utilize Wood
-no secondary creation
-lack of rim protection
they need Luka masterclass and great three-point shooting to beat literally anyone
one thing i won’t condone is a Rajon Rondo apologist. y’all must have forgot he quit on Dirk in the middle of a playoff game. don’t care how much of an asshole Rick was, that shit is inexcusable
it’s so painful to watch your favorite team squander a generational talent in real time. a slow march toward death. there’s nothing they can do to save themselves
Luka only took 16 shots tonight. third time in last five games he’s had less than 20 shot attempts. before that, his last game with <20 FGA was on November 19th
i’ll never forgive Minnesota, Utah, and Washington for just giving the Lakers an entire roster of good players for nothing to save their season. shit needs to be investigated
