@yoofilos This Struthiomimus shows the death pose beautifully. However, it does take time for the neck muscles/ligaments to contract creating the death pose so it's fine to show them in a limp pose right after dying.

"Dinosaurs were more diverse than mammals during the Mesozoic." This is often repeated with the implication that this is no longer the case in the Cenozoic. Except dinosaurs are *still* more diverse than mammals. ~6.5K extant mammal species ~11K extant avian dinosaur species

An important dinosaur specimen, a second specimen of a species only known from the holotype, is most likely lost to science. I spoke with the person in possession of the fossil today, and he apparently has no interest in having it published. I'm very disappointed.

@TomHoltzPaleo @bonz_us @JGN_Paleo @SkyeMcDavid @FossilLocator I don’t remember who first pointed this out to me, but the 2nd claw of Dakotaraptor also has some obvious similarities to published T. rex hand claws. I agree there’s definitely a big dromaeosaur somewhere in Hell Creek based on other work, but I don’t think Dakotaraptor is it.

SMF R 4970, the specimen that allowed for the description of Psittacosaurus' cloaca and today's paper on the umbilical scar (not the true belly button of therians) was smuggled out of China illegally and is currently in Germany. Reminds me of another famous feathered dinosaur....

Directly opposite is a 10ft tall, 3D printed modern magpie skeleton, x20 scaled This fantastically showcases the skeletal similarities between modern and extinct theropods, and in my opinion is the scarier of the two! (2/6)

I don't buy the Tyrannosaurus split. I still think the genus Tyrannosaurus should be monotypic. Also, the name "Tyrannosaurus regina" doesn't comply with the rules because -us is masculine and -ina is feminine.

a beautifully preserved paddlefish from Tanis When I saw this in 2021 I was surprised by its quality of preservation, and since it was labeled as indet, I assumed it was undescribed. Today this specimen was made the holotype of Parapsephurus willybemisi.
