eBooks covering the Space Shuttle, International Space Station, Russian & Chinese Space programs. We tweet every major Space launch and story, follow and enjoy!
Ponder this. In todays dollars Endeavour cost $3 Billion.
Program cost of the F-35 program - $1.7 Trillion. And yet for that money they are getting less than 2000 of them. $1.7 Trillion equals 566 Space Shuttles. America has an addiction for waste and war.
China’s Space agency claims they have set up Wi-Fi on Tianhe. This allows the crew to literally use their mobile phones to call their own homes! See image of crew demonstrating.
OTD - 1984 One of my all time favourite EVAs. STS-11 (41B) astronauts McCandless and Stewart's first EVA together. McCandless rides the Manned Maneuvering Unit on its first use and becomes the first human to see a Space Shuttle in orbit.
China's Shenzhou-13 to launch in just two days to the Tiangong Space Station. With Zhai Zhigang on his second flight, Wang Yaping on her second flight, to conduct China's first female EVA and Ye Guangfu on his first flight becoming the 598th person to enter Space.
Confirmed there will be two more all-female (Koch & Meir) EVAs Spacewalks on Jan. 15 & 20 to complete the replacement battery process.

OTD- 1989 the Space Shuttle Atlantis STS-34 returns to Edwards AFB following the deployment of the Galileo Jupiter Orbiter. Photos by my co-author Joel W. Powell.
OTD - 1988 the Soviets launch their version of the NASA Space Shuttle. Buran OK-1.01 landed a few hours later just a few kilometres from its launch pad.
Catalogued my Space collection. Time to insure it all. Part 1 - NASA & Soviet Space Shuttles 1:700, 1:400, 1:288, 1:200, 1:144. Also a few 'Flown in Space' flags and patches.
I want to go on record in making an apology to

in any criticisms I made over

Knowing now that there was a bigger more deliberate plan for the future has changed my mind. Jared will create a strong foothold in the history books if it all comes true.
Amazing capture by Cai Xuzhe during his ride on the 15 metre combined RMS. On the left is the Tianzhou-5 cargo craft docked to the rear port of Tianhe.
This is a pre-launch view of the inside of Tianhe. This is a cavernous module. Larger by far than US modules in the ISS and also Zvezda. Second image is the same view but loaded with cargo as the Crew arrived last night.
Pathfinders in the NASA/Soviet Space Shuttle programs. Enterprise OV-101 & Buran OK-MT (first image). Few realise that the Russians built four Burans to conduct the same testing programs that Enterprise alone was tasked with: Buran OK-MT, OK-KS, OK-ML1 (MT behind it) and OK-GLI.
Well Ive lost all "faith" in NASA Admin.
@SenBillNelson
now. Bringing God and Jesus into todays launch insults millions. Separation of Church and State is within the US Constitution. This truly sickens me. America is not a one religion nation.
I am so over
@inspiration4x
can we all move on and focus on real Space missions, not 72 hr jaunts by millionaires trying to justify their Astronaut status. It’s done, footnotes made in the history books let’s move on.
Russian multi-nodal module "Prichal" is mated to its progress delivery craft at Baikonur. Due to launch to the ISS in late November and dock with Nauka.
The one time
@SpaceX
adds an identifying logo on its crewed spacecraft and it wont be seen in Space. Sadly, we wont see this craft and its unique design in Space as there will be no way to view it.
@inspiration4x
@rookisaacman
Even the Chinese sent up an inspector craft for this.
.
@SierraSpaceCo
has been pushing their Sierra Space Station lately. I just thought I would post their pics in one tweet for clarity. Looks impressive.
A very busy month for crewed flight to Space. Three more to go. Shenzhou-13, Virgin Galactic 23 and Crew Dragon-3. Yesterday saw the Blue Origin NS-18 crew fly above the Karman line.
A teaser to how the Russian Segment of the
@Space_Station
will look next July. Addition of the 'Nauka/Science' module and removal of Pirs to accomodate it.
I first seriously followed Soviet Space with Salyut-6 in 1977. My first Russian Cosmonaut hero was Valery Ryumin. Flew the 1st attempt to dock with Salyut-6, then back to back 6 mth long duration missions and later another short visit before joining STS-91 at Mir. Happy Birthday
@WilliamShatner
Sadly for you... the man is right. Putin is a dictator and murderer. Those are unchallenged facts in the West. Spending time on RT is indeed aiding his regime. Sorry you dont see it Bill.
Having collected 1,000 images of Buran, it’s very rare when a new one appears. This is a frame showing visitors viewing the Buran OK-1.01 before its first launch. Payload bay handling hinges are missing therefor this is a prelaunch Image, not a test run.
Lets clarify "Astronaut".
Orbited the Earth - ASTRONAUT
Crossed the Karman line - International Astronaut (maybe)
Crossed US defined 50 mile line - US Astronaut (maybe)
Trained by a legit national Space agency - Astronaut
Space Camp graduate/POSSUM trained - Not an Astronaut
First clear images of one of the Chinese Tianhe sleeping birth windows, in this case belonging to Hongbo. There are three on the station. No other windows have been identified so far. Thanks
@AJ_FI
. Final image is from another of the births that straddles the main solar array.
My favourite Buran poster. Buran OK-M/ML1 taken about 1990. This craft was used for acoustic and facility/pad fit checks. Never intended to ever fly in Space. Interestingly the Soviets had 4 vehicles that did the combined work of NASA's Space Shuttle Enterprise, this was one.
New pics released of Russia's Prichal (Berth in english) multi-docking node. This will launch in November and be added to Nauka. That mission will be another great show.
@StationCDRKelly
FFS apologizing for quoting Churchill because ascribed to British morays on race? So we can no longer quote anyone born before 1950? Slippery slope people.
Looking for rare Buran images. Discovered these new pics of Buran 1.02 (flight versions sister). People who trespassed to view these not only stole tiles but broke all the flight deck windows. I hope some of these people are sitting in jail today. Prosecute all who trespassed.

’s Hayley Arceneaux will become the first person in history to fly into Space with no Space Agency affiliation, a person who did not pay to fly, and has little or no training. A true random human launching into Space. Can anyone find a comparison to her?
Julia Peresild, looking very serious in training at Star City. The plan is to launch to the ISS and make the first ever feature film in Space. Are the plans locked in stone?

Looks better right side up. This image shows a rare view of the join between Unity and Destiny, which is rarely seen so clearly. View orientation is station forward to the right and along the central truss toward the port side. The JEM on the right with Leonardo in the middle.
Incredible hi-res image taken by Zhai Zhigang commander of the Shenzhou-13 crew. Shows the entire port side of Tianhe-1 taken from his perspective on the end of the remote manipulator arm.
A few first looks inside Tianhe as the crew entered this evening. First two images are from inside the very spacious multi-docking hub/EVA airlock. Next two are from inside the Station.
Truly remarkable shot - Chang Guang Satellite Technology Co., Ltd. has captured the International Space Station

(alt ~400km) on their Jilin-1 optical satellite (alt ~640km).
Next year we will see more human rated spacecraft flying than at any other time in World history. Soyuz, Shenzhou, Crew Dragon, Starliner, Orion and Gaganyaan. Plus three or more Sub-orbital craft as well. 2021 will be the busiest year in Space history for Mankind.
Did you know that the Soviets placed four different Shuttles on the launchpad? Two were test vehicles as Enterprise, never meant to fly. Buran would fly, its sister would not get that honour. OK-ML1, OK-MT, OK-1.01 and OK-1.02. Note we are still looking for better images of ML-1.
Photo collection of all images known for Buran OK-ML1. One of several prototypes that duplicated tests that Enterprise conducted for the NASA Shuttle program. Other Burans to follow. Thanks
@b0_mby
for new contributions.
Finally some hi res images of the Chinese Tianhe core module. After years of waiting. Via

1st image is the top or Zenith side, 2nd image is the bottom or Nadir side. Note the folded RMS.

Exactly, why are any free thinking journalists second guessing that Trump isnt a liar? Are they saying he cant help himself? If thats true then he has no right being in office anyway. Fact is,
@realDonaldTrump
is a compulsive liar, simple minded and ignorant of facts.
To prep for the first launch of Buran the Soviets threw a lot of money at test vehicles. NASA concentrated on Shuttle Enterprise for early tests such as landings, pad fit checks & more. The Soviets had 4 vehicles to do the same work. Here is their Shuttle family. Part 1 of 2.
